I had my first appointment today and not sure it won't be my last. My husband gave me a gift…read morecertificate and I was so excited after reading the reviews. I was let down. Let me say my masseuse was not one of the ones mentioned. She was not very friendly. Didn't ask what brought me in or if I had any areas of focus. Just looked at the paper I filled out said ok and that was that. She was so rough even after I told her it was hurting very badly. She said it was my fault I have knots so it's going to hurt but didn't let up on the pressure or get out of that area. I have RA and Lupus and severe joint and muscle pain which I did advise of. I was writhing when she touched certain spots and it seemed she pressed harder. I asked for my lower back to get some attention but that didn't happen either she stayed up top. I usually get a good nap and feel great after a good massage but that did not happen this time. I couldn't relax. I went home and have been so sore (not in a good way either). I can't move my shoulders, arms or bend down. My neck is stiff and I've had a migraine since I left. I may try again with someone else but I'm on the fence. Just an update: it's a week after my terrible experience. No one from the spa has reached out. No one has acknowledged my experience. I am still in terrible pain that was caused by the masseuse. I'm now having pain, shocks running down my mid back and legs from the excessive pressure the masseuse used after I told her it was too much, after I told her it was hurting, after she told me it was my fault because of my knots.

John is wonderful. I rarely find someone who can actually work the knots out of my back in a way…read morethat it lasts. Very perceptive on the amount of pressure to use, super friendly, and overall a superb massage therapist. The facility is also exceptionally clean, calm, and relaxing. Definitely a new part of my routine!

The massage therapist I used, Vincent, he was great! I agree with other reviews- avoid the…read moremembership. I asked to cancel and was talked into putting a freeze instead. I have one month left on my freeze and I called to cancel again. This time, I was told that they would cancel it and I would still be charged a final draft of the membership fee- the rep told me to read my contract. The website terms and conditions conveniently leave out the terms of cancellation. I asked about the contract I signed, which I never received a copy of, digital or otherwise, and was told it could not be emailed to me and that I would have to come in to get it. It is convenient for the business to make it inconvenient for the member to be able to read the full terms and conditions and their "policy". I am canceling and will not be returning to any Hand & Stone location.

After an excellent massage at their Cary location, I was excited to check out the Garner location…read more This Hand & Stone Spa is smaller than the Cary building, but just as welcoming and relaxing. It is located in a plaza, next to a Coldstone, with ample parking. I scheduled a facial for a weekend afternoon. I was greeted upon arrival by a welcoming, friendly front desk associate. She answered my questions, confirmed my appointment, and asked me to sign some forms. The forms were surprising since I had completed the required forms online in advance. These forms were regarding new treatments they offered. Even though I was not receiving these treatments, I still had to sign the forms. My facial was with Claire. I informed her this was my first facial and asked her to describe the steps as she performed them. For instance, what she was applying to my face, etc. She did this occasionally throughout the facial, but I still do not know what all was done. The website and Claire were clear on pricing. Prices are higher for non-members and they have a variety of add-ons to choose from. Unfortunately, I did not find the facial at all relaxing. It was rough, especially the scalp massage (which I do not recommend adding on). The hand massage add-on was nice but very short. At the end she did show me two of the products she recommended purchasing (Clarity brand). Overall it was not relaxing, however, the employees are nice, the environment is comfortable, and the services are reasonably priced. I would return here for a massage, but will pass on the facials.
