Had two of their drivers in two different trucks yell gross ( FU and FU you POS ) obsenities at me when THEY were blocking a turn with trucks heading out to Creston or somewhere , actually sticking out in traffic , had I had children in the car what would have thought of these two yahoos . This is my go to place! I moved here from the Chino/Montclair/Walnut/Claremont area (LA suburbs). I've been to many feed stores since I'm always looking for the best deals. Not only do they have great feed, this is one of the few places that carries live fowl! Keets, chicks, quail, ducklings, turkeys! This place seems family owned. Boss lady and her daughter are always there to help me. They answer all my beginner noob questions. A lot of professional and personal experience from them. If the workers don't have an answer, the boss ladies do. ----------------------------------------- I've read some reviews that people "feel" ignored. The chick looked like it was dying after one hour after purchase so I called the store and they said no refunds once a chick leaves the store. The chick was housed under a heat lamp with food and water in a quiet place within 20 minutes and all the other chicks are doing just fine. my mom went there paid for #1 Bermuda hay and they gave her the wrong hay. She opened it up and it was cow hay. Took it back and they charged her the difference between the #1 and the cow hay. Then bitched about her opening a bale . She had to have someone else take it back to exchange it so they paid the difference for her and my mom isn't the kind to throw a fit and argue you bet your ass I'd be arguing about pay another 3$ a bale after I already paid for it in the first place. The lady helping return it was hella rude about her opening the bale of hay when they gave it to her wrong in the first place. It's one thing to make a mistake , but then to be totally rude about it afterwards. I love to support small companies but Our family won't support a company with workers with smart mouths read more

I had a wonderful experience with the fat man. He even loaded my hay. It took a little longer than expected but he figured it out. I think his name was Waud The other employee who was blond and had an amazing work effort for his condition. First, I want to say that this is the first Yelp review I have written. I didn't even have the app installed on my phone. But I am so concerned by this establishment's lack of concern for public safety that I am writing this now. We stopped in there Saturday morning for the first and last time. Sadly, there was no Mask Required signage posted. NONE of the staff were wearing masks. I was the ONLY patron wearing mine. Extremely rude and weird staff. I basically got the feeling of.. "Are you going to buy this or not? If not, just leave." We were buying baby chicks and it was my first time. I posted to social media about buying the chicks, and I had a lot of people ask me where I bought them.. I told everyone to not go here and spend their money. I told them to go to Farm Supply in SLO, where you'll actually talk to some friendly faces. I don't know if the owner was there when we were, but the lady at the front was very unhelpful and rude. I will never spend my money here again and will not recommend to my friends and family. As a small business owner, you should be so thankful customers are spending their hard-earned money with you. I don't live close by, but I drive up to Atascadero feed about once a quarter. Why, when there are several other feed stores in South SLO County? Because they carry some hard-to-find quality horse feeds that no one else does. In particular, they stock the Triple Crown line of feeds, which are exceptional. I get the Triple Crown Senior and Light Starch for my retired 28-year-old cherished horse. They always have it in stock, the prices are reasonable, and I always find a couple other must-haves to make my trip even more worthwhile. 1. This company sold me a sick chick, and told me her health was fine when they knew it wasn't. Shame on them. 2. Whenever I (a female) go into the store alone, I am treated like I know nothing, I'm unimportant, and with no courtesy at all. However, I visited the store again, on the same day/same shift/same staff, with my boyfriend. As soon as I have a man with me, we're treated with respect. I'm very happy that I tried this place. I typically had gone to the "Big Box" farm store in Paso for livestock handling equipment but my wife told me that they were "super nice" here so I figured that it was closer and if the prices were anywhere close, I'd give them the business. When I walked in I was greeted with a friendly "good morning" and asked if they could help me find anything. I told them what I was after and much to my surprise, the exact same items were several dollars less than they were advertised for at the "Big Box" farm supply store. I went to look around for some other parts that were germane to my project and the lady behind the counter told me that those items were included with the original items that I was purchasing. That's very cool in that she took enough of an interest and had the knowledge of her products to save me an unnecessary purchase that either would sit in my barn forever or involve another run to town to return them! The icing on the cake was that after I had paid and went to my truck to load up, the loading was already done. I had been a bit concerned about that aspect as I had recently had a rather extensive surgery done on my arm and wasn't quite sure how I was going to load the items into my truck with one arm! I went in there with my husband. None of the employees were wearing masks. There was no sign on the door stating masks are required. Customers were going in and out without masks! We had purchased Orchard hay from Atascadero Hay and Feed. It was great looking hay but had alfalfa in it. My goats can't eat alfalfa...so I called the store and spoke to Theresa, explaining the situation. "No problem!" She arranged for Robert to deliver the right Orchard hay and took back the orchard/alfalfa mix. The Orchard hay looks amazing! She Repeatedly accused me of lying and I finally just hung up. Cannot believe how unprofessional and rude she was on the phone and will never step foot inside or encourage others to go. My wife and I having going here for years to buy are pet supplies. We're always treated with friendly, courteous help. The staff is very knowledgable about the products they sell, as is the owner Kevin who is also very pleasant, and quick with a joke. They always have what we need, and load it for us. I don't know what the problems are with other people, maybe they need to drop the attitude before they go there. The mask issue is just a lot of B.S. Worst customer service ever! It took me months of going in there once a month for them to even say hello when I walked in. It's usually only the two ladies in the front that are especially rude. The guys are great and very helpful. One woman is usually eating off to the side while the other is on the computer or helping clients. Who wants to walk into a place of business and not only watch, but smell other people eating their lunch ? But it tends to be at all hours of the day. I felt their customer service was so bad that I quit buying hay and anything eles from there for years, but then decided to try their hay again and get the rest of what I needed. unfortunately they were the same so I started getting my hay eleswear again but unfortunately they were the only ones that sold the other item I needed and had to return. They have gotten my order wrong twice now, and I get it to a degree but I live all the way across town and my animals won't eat it. But I do understand mistakes will be made. But when you walk In and say that this is the second time my order has been wrong and they don't acknowledge you whatsoever, except some snickering between the two (mind you one is eating, per usual) about how one herd me and the other didn't, but still getting no acknowledge as to what my complaint is about or how can they help me to correct it, is pretty foul. Then the one who was eating with the dark hair argued with me about how I didn't order what said I did. That I ordered an adult and not a youth when in the entire time I have been ordering it from them it has been youth, even bringing my feed back before because of it being the adult. I wasn't looking for anything more then just an acknowledgment and that they were wrong and sorry and going to get me what I had originally ordered and we could have kept it pushin, But their behavior and being so argumentative and stedfast in defending their behavior while never missing a bite of food really rubbed me wrong way. I really like the large line of show supplements and coat conditioners for all types of livestock, and they carry products that most other feed stores in our area do not. However, I needed to purchase a product that I had previously purchased at this facility, and they were out. I put in a special order, and was told it would arrive within a week and they would call me. A week went by, I called, and was told the order had been placed but it takes between one and two weeks to come in. One week later, I called again, and was told that the order had just been placed a couple of days prior, and it takes at least a week to come in. Now , two weeks later,I have show lambs that need this product and I do not have it. No other feed store in this area carries this product. I am not very happy about this. read more

I do not know who I talked to about ordering some chicks and a few ducks a several months back but they stated they would order for me, took my name and number and stated that they would call me as soon as they came in. Weeks went by and no call. I finally called them and they told me that my order was not in and to check back. That made me upset. They were going to be a gift to my nephew and I was told that Atascadero Hay and Feed was only place I could get chicks and ducks from. Plus why do I have to call them to check on my order? Customer service is everything. If they can not return calls and get it together then why should or would I go back? I was told by a few friends how great this place was. I will say that the woman who greeted me and was walking around helping customers was friendly, seemed knowledgeable but I have not seen her last two times I went back. I never got the chicks or the duck for my nephew. I will be getting him them in Spring. I feel Atascadero Hay and Feed could earn 5 stars if staff was more friendlier and got with the program- meaning strive for a GREAT customer service attitude. read more

Their website says they are open at 10 am- 3pm on Sunday, but they are not. Waited outside that place till nearly 11a.m. and they still weren't open. No answering machine to update customers of a change in operating hours. Too bad they are the only place in town to get farm supplies and a bale of hay from... or I would have gone elsewhere. read more
