This well located store has lots of supplies for all kinds of animal pets from rabbits to birds to good old dogs and cats. They have a big yard area out back with larger goods like pedal boats and kayaks, and all at reasonable prices. We stopped by for a dog fence and examined all the outside goods first, then made our way inside to the dog area. We did find just what we were looking for, but had to search for a staff person who then reluctantly scanned the two that we were interested in. We asked for help loading, but he just said that the wagons were by the door. We hefted the dog fence to the register where they rang it up promptly. There were no more carts available, and one of the issues with this store is that there is little to no parking, especially around noon to two on weekdays and most weekends as the parking lot also serves the SLO Public Market. read more

I swear to God I could spend hours in the store and probably several hundred thousand dollars if at least with the right wallet I have while peafowl all over my property and frequently come here for medication snacks and food. The stores are always immaculate, well laid out and have such interesting stock that I can always count on spending way more time wandering the aisles and checking out all the cool goodies then I need for picking up mealworms. I'm headed back over there shortly for some trough to use as raised garden beds, they have the best quality in the area and for you sure can't beat their prices compared to Meyer brothers or Ace Hardware. read more

I was recently in this store to purchase some feed as well as a few other livestock needs, as I was perusing the western wear aisle, I remarked to my daughter that I didn't think this pair of jeans would fit. Suddenly a store employee remarked that my *bootie* would be very "sexy" and that he recommended I try the jeans on. To which I quickly said no thank you and started to walk away. As I did, he put his hand on the small of my back and said chocolately ladies are cowgirls too" I felt very uncomfortable and left without making a purchase. The man was tall. Red vest. Beard maybe Edward? Elvin! Something like that. It was very inappropriate and extremely uncomfortable. I will go out of my way to go to Lompoc next time. read more

I wish there was a zero star option. You'd certainly be getting it. I am disabled, and on a fixed income, disability. My 2 dogs are a month Overdue for their Bordatella shots, and I wanted to bring them in for the VIP LOW COST SHOT CLINIC that you were hosting today, from 1:00-2:30. I called your shop to see if someone there or someone through VIP would be available to help me, as, did I mention-IM DISABLED!! The woman who answers your phone, I believe her name is Stacy? Needs a lesson in manners or Etiquette or how about just some good ole fashioned customer service? I won't be back Tractor Supply, I'll stick with Mike @ Lemos Ranch. Shout Out Buddy!!! I stopped in with my husband to look for things for my quail. They're a little hard to find supplies for because of their size (some chicken stuff works, and some caged bird stuff is more appropriate). It was our first time in, and I was really pleased to find products here that will work for them. This store seems like it has a good selection of yard/garden/farm items in general. I won't be coming back, though. The tall blond guy who works here was overbearing in loudly and repeatedly offering "help". It wasn't until he literally followed me to the door on my way out that I realized he saw us as shoplifters. This store must have a problem with shoplifters, because he made a point of making me feel watched. It was weird. read more

Very disappointed with Tractor Supply in San luis obispo. I spoke to them two weeks before I would need a trailer for two days to pick up an Atv. So two days before I pick up the trailer I call and they tell me that the trailer is broken. This left me scrambling to find a trailer ON LABOR DAY WEEKEND!!! I even drove to the store and spoke to the manager who said "sorry" not my fault corporate needs to send me a new trailer. Why do you send free trailer rental coupons to me for being a valued credit card member but don't even have a trailer available? This cost me almost $75. I contacted Tractor Supply but they would not reimburse me. Shame on Tractor Supply for bad customer service. read more

It's great to have a Tractor Supply so close. However, when they are nearly always out of what you need, it's pointless. Today I needed 3 of their packaged straw bales to get ready for rain, and they have NONE. Plus the website said they had it in stock, but I have learned to always call first, and sure enough, none. I used to drive all the way to the Tractor Supply store in Paso Robles, so I was thrilled when they a store in San Luis Obispo. To make it even better, it's just a few doors down from the Farm Supply Store on Tank Farm Road, so I can swing into both stores quickly and easily. (Why visit both? They carry different brands and different things, in case you're wondering.) The staff is super helpful and friendly, both in answering questions knowledgeably and in loading purchases into my truck with a smile. They have a little of everything, from jeans and clothing and boots, to horse tack and feed, all manner of animal feed and care supplies, plus a big selection of tools, vehicle repair items, and hardware. And power equipment like lawnmowers and tillers, and gas grills and heaters, and even some patio furniture. In the spring, they have plants and gardening supplies. See? It's about as one-stop-shop as you can get for this sort of thing. Their prices are wee bit lower than Farm Supply for some things, but it's really a pretty minor difference. And, like I mentioned, both stores carry different things. Tip: if you have a need for VetWrap, keep an eye open for their multi-packs on sale. You can't choose the color (might be pink or camo) but you cannot beat the price, even in a catalog. They're also open on Sunday, for those emergencies that always seem to come at the most inconvenient time. read more

I wish all stores were as accommodating as this one!... We arrived at the store last night within minutes of closing and had large items to load on our truck... Whereas most stores would tell us to come back tomorrow, Tonia and Juan allowed us plenty of time to buy and load even though the store was closed... We live approximately an hour from the store and they saved us having to drive back this morning...
