This review is Only for the booking process as I have not been able to obtain an appointment for service. I have called Atasia Spa 5 times over the past 9 months. I have called trying to book an appointment for massage at times and nails at others. I have requested same day service. Other times I requested same day or next day service. I have even attempted to book an appointment as far as 4 days out. I only get my nails done for special occasions and as they tend to chip easily I don't book more than 4 days out. At no point in the past 9 months that I've attempted to book an appointment have I been successful. They are always fully booked or have nobody available to provide any service. I don't recommend this spa if you are looking for book an appointment for service. They do not take walk ins. read more

This spa is a good place to relax and get rid of unwanted stress. The location was clean and organized. The front desk attendant Justin was very informative ensuring me that any questions could be taken care of. I received a much needed massage from Pam. I have to give this place 5 stars for their professionalism alone. We had a party of seven that Becky worked diligently to get all scheduled for 2 services each within a 4 hour window. She was a great communicator and an absolute professional. When we had a "difficult" (trying to be nice) member of our party who acted absolutely ridiculous toward the spa's staff, they took it in stride as to not escalate the issue. I cannot apologize enough or thank them enough for their response. As for the spa itself, its the cutest, and deceivingly larger than expected. I loved all the serenity rooms to relax in between treatments. I personally did the eucalyptus steam room, 45 min therapeutic massage, and pedissage. I believe I would have loved the steam room had we had a smaller party, but with 7 of us, I felt claustrophobic and had to get out. The massage was lovely and the pedissage was nice, but didn't feel any different than a normal pedicure so I would avoid the extra expense next time. I agree with other reviewers that the lighting in the nail area felt industrial and didn't quite mesh with the rest of the spa. Overall great experience. Do yourself a favor and don't go with a large group. Just yourself or one friend!! read more

I was visiting my aunt and decided to treat myself to a much needed massage. I had Michelle, because the owner Frank who is suppose to be amazing was booked. Unfortunately she made me feel uncomfortable from the beginning. Her bedside manners need to greatly improve. She isn't at all pleasant professional or friendly, mentioned how I was her last massage and her eagerness to get home. I tried to connect with her as I can connect easily with most people, but with her it was impossible. She looked at me blankly as if I was an alien. I should of left the room right then and there but had already paid a whooping $130 for an hour deep tissue. As for the massage, it was the worse of my life, not deep at all, she removed her hands off my body several times for awhile and did lazy moves in general and never checked in with me. It wasn't even relaxing with her energy, so a waste of time and lots of hard earned money, I still gave her a $15 tip bc I have a heart. Worse massage therapist experience for the same price of a deep tissue in NYC that would of been great. Completely let down and disappointed. As for the towel girl, she was helpful and friendly. I left her a tip too. The space is nice. read more

Had a girls spa day last week. I started with a Reiki treatment the day before. Pam is a phenomenal energy worker and it was a powerful, positive experience. On our spa day we started with a whirlpool bath, followed by an hour massage, facial and pedicure. The atmosphere is calming and one immediately relaxes coming in the front door. Loved the ability to shower when we finished. Everyone was friendly, kind and excellent at their professions. Loved the facilities. I plan on returning again for a facial with Gretchen. It was my first facial and I was pleasantly surprised at how relaxing a facial can be. I highly recommend starting your body treatments by having a Reiki session the day before if one wishes to address spirit and body in the same visit. Atasia is truly a full service spa! read more

I live in the Washington DC area and have been going to Berkeley Springs for a girlfriend spa weekend for 7 years. We have considered other towns, but Atasia Spa is the main reason we return to Berkeley Springs year after year. The outside looks like an older home, but inside is comfortable, clean and eclectic. After Becky, the friendly receptionist, checks you in, the bath attendant takes you to one of their changing areas and gives you a locker, key, flip flops and robe. The robes are fantastic, soft and fluffy. I like that the house has been renovated into a spa, but you can still tell it was a house. It is just more fun and cozy that way. I've found that the other clients at the spa are quiet and respectful of the fact that other people are having services (unlike some spas I've been to in DC where people are on phones and disturbing the peace). The rooms where you rest have papasan chairs, couches, local spring water, quiet music and dim light. Resting in those rooms might be my favorite part. Usually, I start with the steam room and then have a massage and facial. (There is a discount if you get 3 services, but prices are reasonable even without the discount.) This year I started with the steam room, then had an herbal wrap. Jeannie did the wrap. It was a nice way to quiet my mind before having other services. Theresa did my massage, and I have had other masseuses in the past. All are good and you should speak up to tell them what you want. I prefer a 90 minute massage, because it is 10 times more relaxing than a shorter massage. The stone massage is particularly good. This year Sydney gave me a Rejuvenating Facial. It includes massage for the hands, feet and shoulders. She did a great job and gave me a list of products she used, but did not do any hard sell (again, some DC facials involve a long sales pitch). My friends agreed my skin was glowing and fresh after. One friend bought some products because she liked them, and it was nice that it was a choice made without any pushing. All the people providing services at the salon are nice, local, and follow the same process for each service... greeting, pointing out where to hang your robe, telling you which way to face on the table, leaving the room for you to dress, and knocking before entering. Then after your treatment they leave the room and wait outside with Berkeley Springs spring water. I like that everyone has the same system, it makes it more comfortable and predictable. You don't have to carry money around for tips, there are envelopes at reception you can use on the way out. Another note is even though I was there with just girlfriends, there are always men there so it would be comfortable for couples too. We stayed at Atasia Spa all day, from 10:00-4:00, and I spent under $250. It was an amazing spa experience for such a low price. Really worth the 2 hour drive from DC for a getaway weekend. read more

"OMG, I will be back." That's all I kept thinking during my day at Atasia. Momma always said to never judge a book by it's cover- remember that! From the outside, Atasia is just another house on the block. Inside tells a different story. WOW. They honestly had me wondering how they fit so much into the space, and how on earth they transformed a regular ol' house into a luxurious spa setting! My friends and I were in town for a girl's weekend, and we had been told Berkeley Springs was the perfect spot. After some quick research, we settled on Atasia. I mean, a full 6-hour spa day for $310? Say what?! I was a little nervous because that seemed *really* cheap and there aren't a lot of photos online. I soon came to figure out that's because everyone's so busy relaxing that you really do forget about your phone and Yelp reviewing! ;) Side note: I had actually badly cut open my toe the night before our spa day, and they were able to swap my pedicure out for a second massage for a small upcharge. Super accommodating and nice about my clumsiness! From start to finish, our experience was awesome. The atmosphere was relaxing, there were plenty of dimly lit rooms to rest/wait in while spa music played throughout the building. I honestly almost fell asleep after my facial, I was in that good of a place! They even provided lunch with the day package. The staff was amazingly friendly, with quite a few of them having been at Atasia for a number of years. My roommate and I first visited Atasia Spa last year as a graduation gift to ourselves. This place made us feel luxurious and comfortable even on our grad student budgets. When we arrived, the woman working the reception area was very friendly. There was no wait at all. We just headed right into the changing room, which was clean and had a separate bathroom that you could change in for privacy. It also has a shower for those who may want to rinse off before or after services. After we stored our things in the lockers, we headed into the dimly lit whirlpool room. They have 2-3 going in separate rooms. Roomie and I shared a whirlpool session ($25 for two people), and then we headed upstairs (the place is actually much bigger than it appears from the outside. Upstairs, ground level, and lower level) to the quiet waiting room complete with mints, music, and magazines. It wasn't long before I headed off to my Pampered Hand & Feet Treatment, which was AMAZING. Scrubs, hot stones, oil, the whole thing. Note that this treatment is not done in one of the separate massage rooms, but in the nail salon area, so while it is still extremely relaxing and the chair massages your back, it's not a private area. When we met back up in the locker room, we'd both had a great experience (roomie had the hot stone massage). The woman at the front was also nice enough to split our whirlpool right down the middle without any fuss. Tips can be put in envelopes at the front rather than having to get them out during the treatments. My hands and feet thank you, Atasia Spa. read more

Overall had a good experience here. My family visited the area for 3 massages and 1 facial in all. The spa is very clean and the bathrobes they provide are incredibly comfortable. The interior could use some updating (furniture and some features are fairly dated) but overall is acceptable. I can't remember my massage therapist's name, but she was okay. She didn't ask about any of my preferences (which I'm accustomed to) and just started immediately on my neck. I would have liked more pressure overall, just what I like personally in a massage, but it was decent. I was surprised they didn't require a waiver to be signed. Maybe it's a DC/VA thing, but I've always signed one for a massage. read more

This spa is located in an old news building, which was a big draw for my journalist boyfriend. The interior is decorated serenely with quotations ostensibly from the Buddha and other spiritual teachers hanging on the wall. The front desk person was very welcoming, and the attendants were very helpful, though it occasionally felt like we'd been abandoned in between treatments and had to ask where to go next. The eucalyptus steam room was refreshing, but intense. It definitely took a few minutes to get used to it, but after that it was delightful. The massage by Michelle was relaxing, but about average as far as massages go. The best part was the whirlpool tub which is in a private room with candles and relaxing music. I highly recommend including that in whatever treatments you get. Overall, a good experience. I will definitely go back when I visit Berkeley Springs again! read more

Overall, it was a good experience for me, but it wasn't the same for everyone I was with. We started with a soak in the whirlpool which was very relaxing. My massage was very nice,but the other two were just very gently rubbing (even after asking for more pressure). The facial didn't involve any extractions and they didn't offer any tips on how to make my skin better. Also after the massage, they offered me a Dixie cup of water which o thought was strange. Manicure and pedicure were okay. There's not a big selection of polishes. They do not trim your cuticles either. Overall it was worth the money. It felt like an oasis in the middle of quaint like Berkley Springs. :) Must do the whirlpool before a massage they even have scented packs for you to add to your hot tub experience. Frankie Tan does the most amazing Thai Massage! I've had several of them from him and my most recent one was even better. He's thorough, detail oriented, and succeeds at eliminating the many layers of stress I've accumulated from living my life. Covid 19 and the concurrent politics - totally forgotten during the 90 minute session and the rest of the day. This is the type of massage that's best when paying complete attention to what Frankie is doing, and breathing deeply to release tension. As a connoisseur of bodywork, Frankie is at the top. This is my second time here and both experiences were wonderful. There were several other couples and even a group of women in at the same time we were but somehow we still felt like it was just the two of us--very serene and calming atmosphere. I had a really nice, relaxing experience at Atasia. I always get a little nervous for spa days, because it's an intimate setting with a stranger. However, the 20 minute whirlpool to start off my Cacapon Relaxant was enough to put me at ease. It's a super hot mineral bath with powerful jets in a dimly lit, private room. They also gave me a cushy robe and a locker to store my things in as I relaxed. After the 20 minutes was up, I went to the second floor for my massage. I had arrived a bit early, so I had to wait for about 20 more minutes until I was seen. Don't come early! My massage was very nice, and had the perfect amount of pressure. The last massage I had was light rubbing which is weird, not rejuvenating. My facial was after my massage, and it too was excellent. The only gripe I have is that the esthetician didn't squeeze any blackheads/pimples out. I had postponed treating a gnarly blackhead on my chin because I knew I was going to have a facial, but she didn't do any treatment for that. I had a typical facial with all the bells and whistles they put on your face, as well as a hand, foot, and neck/shoulder massage. Plus warming covers for my hands and feet. I had high expectations and chose Atasia over other spas in town based on reviews, but it was just sort of meh and not really worth the money. My husband and I went together and started with the whirlpool soak, which was nice and I do definitely recommend to prime you for whatever service or services you have done. We then went our separate ways for a foot massage for him and a sugar scrub for me. Granted, we got the short version of both, but neither of us felt pampered by either service. My sugar scrub had a lot of potential and I assume would have been much more thorough if I'd gone with the longer version of the service, but it was definitely not worth the $55 that I spent on it. They put you on a metal table with several shower heads that make it look like you're going to get a nice drenching, but instead the person doing the scrub wetted me down with a hand shower. There was a heat lamp on me, and I was laying on a rubber mat, but it was still quite chilly laying there all wet after she hosed me down. Plus I left like a corpse in a morgue laying there on a metal table. The scrub itself was quick and effortless, and then she hosed me down again and that was it. No lotion to prevent post scrub dryness or anything. Meanwhile, my husband got an unenthusiastic foot massage in the area where they do pedicures and based on his description, I've have better, cheaper massages during routine pedicures. He wasn't impressed. We followed up these two short services with a couples facial, which we thought might be redeeming. And they were fine, but there was nothing couples about it except we were in rooms that were divided by french doors that they left open, and had the service at the same time. Mine was quite nice - lots of facial massaging and a good hand and foot massage while waiting for masks to cure and whatnot. My husband's was completely different than mine though and he didn't particularly enjoy it, unfortunately. Apparently the woman doing his facial used very quick, not relaxing hand movements on his face, and while she rubbed a hot stone down his arms and feet, and gave him the stone to hold, there was no hand and foot massage. Since it was a couple's massage, I wasn't expecting much of a skin analysis, and I didn't get one. The tables were both very comfortable, though. Again, it was all fine, but given the "spa culture" of Berkeley Springs, I thought it would be better than it was. It's always disappointing to splurge on something that you can't afford and leave the day feeling like it wasn't worth the expense. read more

We started with a relaxing 20 minute eucalyptus steam, were lead upstairs to "cool down" in a quiet and comfortable waiting area, and then began our facials. Our facials were performed by Gretchen and Michelle and they were both AMAZING. The whole experience was rejuvenating and relaxing. Don't let the front fool you - this place is huge. I had the atasia vacation package. Very well priced for what you get and they were able to book me for the next day. The whirlpool was a nice way to start. I would have liked hotter but I understand the temp is standard. The massage was pretty good, not the best ever. Odd draping (left my feet out for half the time - cold!) and had to adjust the pillows under my knees myself. I'd suggest blankets in the relaxation room. The robes don't cover legs and it was chilly. The facial was fantastic and included a hand and foot massage with warm mittens/booties. Perhaps that's why the massage didn't spend much time on hands and feet. I'd definitely recommend Sydni for a facial. One negative - an ancient ceiling light globe w dead bugs in it. If I'm going to be staring at the ceiling, give me something nice to look at. It was odd, considering all of the nice touches in the rest of the place. Also, The timing was odd... Everyone leaves for lunch 1-2 so they scheduled the mani-pedi for after lunch. I had to dress and leave to get my own food (they told me this would happen but it did chop up the relaxation.). The mani was standard. Then they sat me in the pedi chair with the (very limited) chair massage going (but not the foot spa) while she did another mani. So, again, I sat with cold feet. The pedi included a good massage and I liked that they used the same seasonal scent throughout the different services (pumpkin spice) but I would probably skip the mani pedi next time. If go to Atasia expecting it to look like Elizabeth Arden Red Door then you will be disappointed but if you go to relax and enjoy you will leave there with all your needs met. Prior to arriving at Atasia Spa i had a massive headache back ache and toothache that i actually had a dentist appointment schedule when i returned from the spa. During my visit at Atasia i received a massage, i don't know what Lori did but my toothache left the minute she touch the pressure points in my head, my carpal tunnel was relieved, my sciatica pain on both sides is now gone and the pinched nerve I've been dealing with for more than 2 years is now gone as well. It is true there is healing in massage. Lori did for me in 90 minutes what doctors couldn't do in over 3 years and lots of pain meds. She also gave me some stretching techniques that i started using upon returning home and i have to say i feel better today than i have in a very long time.
