We were told nothing was available until after 4pm and were asked to pay on the phone to book but were not given any other details on what else would be required for booking. Since we were staying at the Walnut Beach Resort, we decided to just go book in person. We rented a boat and a sea doo for an hour and a half starting from 4:30. We filled in all our waiver forms online earlier and arrived at 4pm, as asked to by the crew, to be briefed and seated. They had others they were attending to and didn't even start our briefing until 4:15. We were a large group with kids as young as a year old and they were getting very hot and irritated with the life jackets on so obviously they began to cry. There were a couple other customers whi they wanted to brief along with us and it was extremely uncomfortable for everyone to wait for the crew to get their things done and start briefing. They tried to rush through, not going much into operating details, and get us on board. We finally departed at 4:50pm. Logically, we assumed our return time would be 6:20pm (1.5hr) but we were not even told what time to return. Because we were quite a few people, and everyone obviously wanted to experience both the boat and sea doo, we had CONFIRMED IN ADVANCE that it would be ok for us to come back to the marina and swap people then do a round and return for a swap again, as many times as needed, and we had been told that would be ok. Because we weren't briefed properly about the boat operation, when we left, the operator at the time pushed the throttle up completely, not knowing that was full power, and the boat took off very fast. She did not expect that and was shocked but quickly put it down again to slow it and brought it under control. When that happened though, the crew girl at the dock shouted rudely and cursed in front of everyone. This was definitely not professional behavior and especially when it was an unintentional mistake due to their own lack of explanation. The entire time, that crew girl had the worst attitude towards us, and they scowled when we came back for our first swap, telling us that we couldn't do swaps there anymore. We were quite upset and requested for one more time at least and they grudgingly said that would be the last and gave us a lot of attitude. When we came back for the third time, it was 5:50pm, the guy was guiding the boat in, it was very slow and the engine off. The boat slid against the moving poles and he said that's ok and to keep steering towards them. Then the girl runs down and says we hit the pole and chipped the boat. The guy even said it wasn't that fast and those poles wouldn't damage it but she insisted we hit the last pole that has metal on the bottom. She said she would take pictures and send to the manager and we would have to pay damages. We told her that we didn't chip it, there were so many chips and scratches from before but she wouldn't listen and they made us get off and said that our time was up. How was that possible when we should've had it until 6:20? They said that the time taken foe the briefing was all part of it and our time had started at 4:30 and because we were a large group, they had taken more time. That's the most ridiculous and unprofessional explanation I've heard! They had others there too for the briefing so now they're using everyone's paid time? We were extremely frustrated at this point and we asked to have the picture emailed to us and also to have the manager call us directly but we were neither sent the picture nor contacted by the manager. This is the worst experience we've ever had with boat rentals, and we've rented many times previously. I even have my boat license and am well aware of boat rules and operations. We will never recommend them to anyone and will make sure everyone is aware of their terrible service and unprofessional behavior. Update: They contacted us to apologize for the experience and did not charge for the alleged damage because they found that we were not liable

My kid and I wanted to go kayaking on our last day in Penticton, and this company opened at 9am…read more(all the others opened at 10am). We wanted to start early, as it gets hot out later in the morning, and very people-y, too. The earlier, the better. So by default, this is where we went. And we're so glad we did! Reserving the kayak online the night before was super easy. We paid a 50% deposit for an hour rental of a double kayak (it was in total $40 for the hour). We drove to the site and there was a paid parking lot there but, right beside it, there was free 2-hour parking right on the street after 9am. So duh, we parked on the street! The place opened at 9am sharp. The guy and gal who work here COULD NOT BE NICER. They were super organized. They asked if they should charge the remaining $20 to my credit card (sure!), gave us well-fitting life jackets, and brought us to our double kayak. I loved the kayak! My kid and I have kayaked before in Kelowna, and this kayak here was our favorite. It felt very stable in the water. It had backrests, and grooves for our feet inside. It was a very well-made kayak, for sure. And we had the BEST time! We paddled out far in the lake, which is crystal clear and stunning, and marveled at the surrounding mountains and gorgeous scenery. It was already getting hot out, so we were really pleased we came when we did and not later in the day. And the waters hardly had any other boaters at that time of morning, so it was perfect for us. Getting back to shore, the girl who works there came to assist us (well, me, specifically! As the "old lady", apparently I need assistance getting out of the boat on the rocky shore. lol. And I GLADLY took the help!). She was SO nice, and the whole experience was so fun, I highly recommend it! (Side note: I saw that this place also rents out single kayaks, pedal boats, sea-doos, and other boats. I would definitely come back to this company!).

The actual experience of parasailing was amazing. But the staff there (excluding a couple of nice…read moreladies at the stand) were very disorganized and acted like you were being a pain in the ass for asking questions. We had a ride planned at 3 o clock but we didn't get on the boat until probably around 3:45. I was okay with waiting, as long as I have nice staff members answering my questions and understanding my confusion.

I wholeheartedly wish that there was a North 40 outfitters store in my native Southern California…read more But as my younger brother says whenever we visit, this place could not exist like this in SoCal. It's sort of like if Lowe's, Home Depot, Bass Pro, Tractor Supply, your favorite fly fishing shop we're all rolled into one store, with only the best parts manifested in the aisles. And that's to say nothing of the saddlery, garden center, farm supply, and livestock sections, to name a few. The service here from every member of the staff borders on annoying, but in the most positive way... Everyone on the floor, asks you if you need assistance, but they don't pester you. One of them I've ever connected with is knowledgeable, and willing to go the extra mile to not only make the sale, but make you happy about it. On a recent trip, my son popped a hole in his waders-- not a great thing when you're standing waste deep in 30° alkaline water. The gentleman and the fly shop went out of his way to help us find a pair that fit him, and honored the clearance sale price to get him a $400 pair of waiters for under 70 bucks. More recently, the same kid a year older needed a pair of gloves to endure an unseasonable cold spell that had hit the area. One of the nice gals on the floor, explained that they were switching over to spring, but went out of her way to help him find an inexpensive pair of gloves to keep on fishing. Incredible selection, nothing locked up behind security glass like we have in Los Angeles County, and did I mention the cute little baby chicks of every variety? They don't travel on the airplane very well, but if I had a piece of land up there, I'd have chickens all over it because of this place. Hands-down, this is the best outfitter store I've ever visited, and that's saying something. We visit Mac once a year for Fishing, and no trip is complete without at least a few stops at North 40. We may not be frequent visitors, but we're customers for life.
