I had a new roof put on my house by Atex Builders. Ben explained the reroofing process, looked in the attic and walked the roof. His estimate was very through listing the brand of roofing material, number of squares and cost of additional plywood, if any was needed. Communication is exceptional with this company. I was informed in advance of shingles being delivered to the house and dumpster delivery. Landcaping was protected with tarps. Job was done in a day and a half. Clean up was spectacular. They started off great. We're responsive to my questions and came out quickly to give quote. It was all downhill from there. Once they got my down-payment it got slow and I would have to repeatedly call and leave messages. They completed the work in a decent amount of time. However, the work was amateur at best. They did drywall repair work from a water leak. They also fixed the roof leak and painted. I could see every piece of drywall work they did. I could have done a better job. There are lumps everywhere. Terrible sanding. There was dust and paint splatter all over the place. I was able to clean most of it up. Not a big deal, but still, not what you would expect from a professional. I paint all the time and don't make a mess. Found paint on wood floors, don't handles, dryer, thermostat, fireplace marble, etc. They were supposed to put all the pictures, art, etc. back on the wall, but I wound up doing it myself. They were supposed to have the floors cleaned. They pulled the cable connection out of my TV, when moving it to paint a wall. They punched a screw hole in a wall that went thru to the next room. It took forever to get Ben to come out and look at the issues. Once he did we settled on a reduced amount rather than redo all the drywall work and painting. I didn't want to go through all that again. I figured I could live with it. Then with in a few months all of their mud and tape lines started to crack. They were cracked before too. I am not sure why they were cracked, but Ben assured me they would fix it. I asked him if the house was flexing from wind or something so that could be fixed before they did the repair. Maybe add more structure in the attic, etc. He wasn't concerned and assured me that the original drywall work was shotty, and that his guys would do a good job. Wrong. So I called Ben back out. This took months to get him back out. He already got all of his money, so was in no hurry to come back. He then said he would have someone else come look too. That probably took another month. And after all this, they said it wasn't their fault. In the mean time I'm about back to where I was before. Spent thousands and got nothing but a paint job and hopefully the roof won't leak anymore. Oh and after we settled on a reduced amount, he then goes back after the insurance company for more money to make up for their poor work and having to give me a break on the price. I'm sure there's more, but that's what I remember for now. Gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because at least Ben worked with me on the price. read more

Atex Builders has been absolutely awesome! I had ice-damming that caused flooding on three levels of my home. Nobody was returning my calls because of the ice storm. Ben German from Atex came out THAT NIGHT, diagnosed the issue, and even did a temporary fix that worked great. Nobody knows more about roofing than Ben. Grant's knowledge on the insurance side was extremely helpful as well. I was so impressed that I've used Atex to get a brand new roof, copper bay, new siding and skylights, window repairs and trim painting, new interior paint, and other jobs. My 1925-era house now looks better than new. Their attention to detail is impeccable - when Ben says he treats your house as if it were his home, he means it! They pick solid contractors and follow up with quality inspections all the time. If Ben doesn't like the quality of the work, they do it all over again - no questions asked. I called Atex in a panic after an inspector found several issues in the attic of my house I was selling. Grant called me back immediately. The very next day, which never happens, Ben showed up to assess the situation, went and got all the materials, then personally worked on my house, staying VERY LATE, until the whole job was done. I was kind of nervous about what it would cost because they knew I was desperate and could easily have over-charged me. The price was very fair, and everything passed inspection. Gave them a large sum of money for a deposit along with our signed contract by both parties. This was over 5 months ago. Since that time, not a single thing has been started on this job. The only thing they were quick do to was cash the deposit check, which was done within 24 hours. I've dealt with numerous individuals within the company trying to get this job started with absolutely no success.
