I felt that when a newscast promotes a point of view, it should be labeled as an EDITORIAL. So I began watching PBS News Hour which provides an in depth newscast. My latest issue with WSYX/Sinclair is THEIR censoring the Jimmy Kimmel show. If I want to censor a show, I simply use the off button. If enough of us do that, then the show gets canceled. I miss the days when our local channels were truly local channels. Now they are big conglomerates trying to become bigger. One Sinclair station is like every other. We don't have reporters anymore. We have news readers.

I think what finally brought it to rest in its spot of number two is the fake Times Square studio Channel Four opened up this year. Here's some real news for you... downtown is boring. Especially on the corner of the government buildings and banks. Do you think state workers are going to get down in front of the open window? When was the last time your teller did anything inter sting? Seriously? I like the concept of a Today style format in Columbus, but not downtown. City Center is dead for a reason. Plus who is really going to take time out of their afternoon to hold signs up downtown? And who but your DVR is going to watch it? The channel four noon broadcast is fun to watch only when the bums of High street put on a show. I once saw one stand in a window and make faces. Entertaining, until the channel four muscle moved him out of the picture. Even free Chipolte day didn't offer any crazy antics. Just film of people in suits eating burritos. Yawn. The studio did create a snazzy new face to an otherwise boring corner downtown. But its still boring.

So if that's how wsaz is don't bother calling them. Not that much goes on to have so many hours devoted to local news. It runs from like 4:30 am until 7am then the Today show comes on. It's on for hours. What really gets me is local news comes on again at 4pm and is on until 6:30 pm. WSAZ 3 used to be our favorite channel but they had programming on besides local news. From 4-6pm they did not have local news. The local news came on at 6 and lasted until 6:30pm.

Some of the CWs other shows are cheesy but embarrassingly addicting like Beauty and the Geek and America's Next Top Model. You know you've wasted entire days watching model marathons! I really like the CW though. They are committed to the green movement, which is a great example since they're driving the media in Columbus. They give young talent an opportunity to gain experience by offering one position as the CW star each year. They're at almost every good-cause event in the city. They offer perks to viewers through a slurry of contests. And their brand is recognizable - how can you think of anything other than the CW when you see chartreuse? The CW audience is probably pre-teen to teen age, but even my mom watches some of their shows.

Don't be jealous but I won advanced screening tickets to see The Duchess starring Keira Knightly. ;) They have some great prizes up for auction like the Jim Tressel signed things, Blue Jackets tickets, Columbus Fashion Week tickets (who knew there was one!!), gift cards, and so on. These aren't dinky prizes either! I am so excited and wish I would have signed up for this sooner! Granted, I'm the only one on the planet who doesn't watch Gossip Girl- - or so it seems- but this station is really cool and makes me want to take a second look.
