Came here for a small scratch and dent on my car. Girl sitting at front desk did not say a word when I walked in and said hi. She stood up silently and when she got to the door said " Well you have to show me which one's your car". One of the worst service experiences I've ever had. Took my car somewhere else for this sole reason. She was so rude and unprofessional. I did not feel comfortable giving money to a company that treats customers this way. read more

A few months ago my rear bumper was hit so I came to Athens P&B and got an estimate, but I decided to leave it as is because it was mostly cosmetic. I got hit again on the same bumper and came back knowing I needed to fix it. The bumper replacement estimate was consistent with the previous time and the gentleman was incredibly patient explaining costs and the process just like he was the first time. Unlike other shops I went by he didn't talk over my questions and didn't try to push repairs for damage on another part of the car. They'd had a cancellation when I called Monday so I dropped off the car Tuesday morning at open and had it back by 3 on Thursday. The bumper looks perfect and they were cheaper than other options. I came here on the recommendation of a friend but quickly regretted it. The staff talks with a tone that suggests they can't be bothered and gives very little information during the process. In addition they aren't very cooperative with the process insurance sets in place for filing supplemental claims. I told them before our vehicle was even dropped off that we had a small bit of damage to our bumper but that our main concern was an engine issue and told them the autozone diagnostic showed it was with the camshaft. I told them again when we dropped it off. I repeated all this again via fb messenger a couple days later and also asked them to verify that they would diagnose the engine. After that message Mike called me and let me know tht hat they aren't knowledgeable or equipped to work deep within the engine and that further engine diagnostic and repair would have to be completed by a mechanic. Based on that discussion, I called insurance as well as the kia dealership the next morning to make sure they could get the car in (that was on the 23rd). I called to speak with Mike shortly after on the same morning and let the person who answered the phone know that Kia could get the car in if they thought that we should worry about he engine before we worried about the bummer. The lady said that that would probably be the recommendation and that she would have Mike call when he got in.. I didn't hear back from him. I sent them a message on the morning of the 24th asking again for a call back and restating that Kia could get our car in and that if the standard recommendation was to get the motor looked at before worrying about the bumper we would like our car taken to Kia. She apologized for us not getting a call back. Mike called later that day and seemed very offended that I wanted to take the car to Kia even though two days before he stated that the engine issue wasn't something they handle. He said "you don't need a second opinion" and stated that I needed a new motor and that even though they can't do the actual work they could write up the estimate. The next day Maggie emails me the supplemental estimate and I remind her that there are instructions for submitting the supplemental claim on the papers from insurance that they were given the day we dropped the car off. We had a back and forth because they don't use the methods mentioned on the insurance paperwork and they wanted me to email it instead. Yesterday (1st) we got the "your supplemental claim has been denied" call from insurance and asked them what we need to do now because there was such an obvious issue leaving the scene of the accident and we still needed to see if we could get the engine fixed (rather than getting a new one as the body shop had insisted) and insurance told us we needed to get it to a mechanic for diagnostic. This is exactly what I wanted to do on the 23rd and 24th between the time Mike said "we can't diagnose and fix engine issues here" and "you don't need a second opinion" after I told him I wanted it taken to the dealership. So we went yesterday and paid the $565 to get our car out of storage. I emailed them afterwards asking for an itemized receipt and asking if it had been moved the day I wanted it to if it would have been much less. This was the snarky, unprofessional reply I got from Maggie "Attached is a copy of the charges, which cover storage and our administration fee. Had we disassembled it, as we usually do when a vehicle is dropped off and authorization is signed, it would have been more along with inside storage which would have made it dramatically increase. Luckily we inspected it without disassembly. You could have moved the vehicle at any point in time as long as the charges were paid. However, you did not and you asked for Mike's opinion and he gave it to you. Mike along with our highly experienced staff all concluded the car would need an engine." So they tell me it's not within their knowledge and equipment capabilities to diagnose or fix and that I would need diagnostic then when I set up to have it taken somewhere to get diagnostic they make me feel like I'm doing something wrong and that suddenly I "don't need a second opinion" then I get "you could have moved the vehicle at any point in time". I should have listened to the reviews rather than my friend who apparently had the rare decent experience. read more

Athens Paint & Body repainted the hood on my 2006 Honda Accord. They did a great job and even managed to salvage some other things for me to get my car looking great. I wanted my pin stripes gone which they tried to oblige, but there was an issue with the clear-coat (issue from Honda and age, not from Athens P&B) and they placed a new set on for me. When I picked up I noticed a minor issue with my key, and they went above and beyond to fix it for me with no charge. I highly recommend their product and service! Be very careful!! I drove my car to Athens Paint and Body and left it for minor repairs. They disassembled it and then totally refused to work with my insurance company and offered no remorse or compromise. They actually held my vehicle hostage and forced my insurance company to pay them approx $560 and then told me I must have my car towed to another shop!! I was devastated as a customer and will NOT use or recommend them to anyone! read more

Terrible experience, never go back. Overcharged for parts that cost more than insurance would pay. I was never given an option on the parts they used the more expensive OEM parts instead of the certified after market parts. I ended up paying $480 extra and they refused to even negotiate. I have 12 vehicles in a fleet plus six personnel vehicles. They will never touch another one. They started work on my vehicle before the insurance adjuster could get there to take pictures of the damage. Nothing was explained to me they just did the repairs with the more expensive non covered parts and said here is your bill pay it. They didnt want to wait for the check from the insurance company. They threatened me with storage fees if I didnt pick up my vehicle and when I did pick it up after they left it sitting out where anyone could break into it or steal it they accused me of stealing my own vehicle. They accused me of trying to get out of paying even after it was turned over to the insurance company. Very unprofessional and bush league operation. I have been in business over 30 years deal with insurance companies everyday and never would I lose a customer or tarnish my reputation over $400. I have also worked in public safety with a major fire department in the Atlanta area for 27 years I am a chief there and have never stolen anything in my life. Athens Paint and Body has a lot to learn about treating customers with respect and also they should try explaining what they are going to do before they do it so people are not shocked when they have to pay more than their deductible. read more

They have gone above and beyond in dealing with insurance companies that are uncooperative, they are available and responsive to any questions I have, they keep the lines of communication open, and they do absolutely the highest quality of work. I truly can't say enough good things about not only their work, but the process of working with them. When one's car has been in accident, it's a stressful time. I believe Michael really would do anything he could to make that process a little easier, and I appreciate them more than they will ever know.
