Took my car out to the Ford dealership and was given an estimate of $450 (took 6 days and intd then the problem when I dropped it off) I knew this was way to high so I asked for some recommendations of places to go and I was referred to Randy at Hawthorne Automotive. I told him what the issue was and told me to bring it by. When I dropped it off he said it would be a day or two and I explained I needed the care for travel for work as soon as he could get it back... 2 and 1/2 hour later Randy called me and my car was ready! Randy is aware of the issue we had with his service, and I'm highly disappointed with the way he handled our complaint. Not only did I feel lied to about the dye test he claimed to do and there was no evidence of ... but he missed obvious signs of our compressor not working that I literally told him about when I brought the car in. First of all they are Not cheaper than any other shop. They do piecemeal work so they dont seem to charge a lot but since they dont fix the problem the bill starts to get bigger and bigger with these little jobs that arent helping. Ive heard they are good Christians' but when I told him my issue with another mechanic who directly contradicted him he did not want to help, he did not want to go down on the price of a bigger job even though he wasted my money doing nothing for the car. Im tired of mechanics charging whatever they want. They can jack up the price of a part if they feel like it. They probably give huge discount to select people and therefore have to charge other people premiums to make up for doing that. I dont know what they do but i do know what something is supposed to cost and mechanics charge two to three times that amount and the more people accept it the more they will continue to charge you 600.00 for a simple alternator job. read more

I received a call this morning saying that the vehicle was having major issues. I live an hour and a half away. So I called a good friend and he mentioned Hawthorne Automotive. He mentioned he has used this place in the past since his child goes to UGA. He also mentioned the owner is as honest as the day is long. So I called Hawthorne automotive and spoke to Randy Butler the owner. I explained everything that was going on and he assured me he would take care of us. Within 1 hour of dropping it off he called me and explain what was going on with the vehicle. I wish I could take all my cars there but the bad news is I live 1 1/2 hour away.
