I love Athleta's clothes, particularly the Relay capri legging/tight, they are the most comfortable and functional pair of gym pants that I've ever owned! I'm a dog walker and a gym rat so for me, comfortable, functional gym wear is really important! I have 2 pairs and I'm debating getting a third pair, the deep cellphone pocket is really what I love, so few pairs of gym pants have pockets, and Athleta's deep pocket has me sold. I can fit my iPhone 6S Plus in my pocket! The material that the Relay's are made of seems to wick away the sweat so I can wear them in warmish weather and also on cooler days. They're stylish and ohh so comfortable with the drawstring too. I suggest hand drying them though. I've bought a few tops at Athleta too which I like and was very comfortable but wasn't of the same quality as the pants. I like that I can use my Gap charge card and Rewards here and that they offer classes, I think it would be fun to check them out! They were giving away free KIND bars and that was a nice touch. I also really like the complimentary tote bags that they give you when you shop with them! My only "2 cents" of advice: they have a great return policy but I would appreciate a bit more clarification on it. I exchanged two or three pairs of pants because I thought that was part of the return policy but then I was made to feel guilty for doing so... I think it's a great return policy but it would be nice if it was a bit more clear as to whether exchanging clothes is part of it or not because that left me feeling confused and unclear. I do really appreciate Brooke exchanging the pants though! That was really nice and I really appreciate it! Also, the prices here are less than Lulu Lemon but - they still are a bit expensive... if they had more reasonably priced merchandise or sales more often I would shop here more often! I think $70 for a pair of gym pants is a little pricey, in my book, but they are great quality. Let me start by saying, I never really wanted to spend my money here. Most of Gap's brands do not fit or flatter me (except Intermix - love Intermix). I forgot to bring my leggings with me to work, and I never skip the gym, so I found myself a coupon and headed here to buy some leggings. Not an overly welcoming store. Mostly, I was extremely surprised by how THIN the fabric on the leggings were. Downright appalling for the price. I'm used to Alo leggings, and if I'm feeling cheap, Under Armour Outlet leggings. I tried on two pairs, and went with a high-waist velvet pair that I could wear once to the gym (not ideal) and then casually with a tunic sweater and boots - I'd been wanting a pair anyway. I bought an XS, could have probably gone XXS if I'd been working out in these regularly. Tight legs, loose waist, just like every other Banana, Gap, Old Navy thing I've ever tried on! I like more of a sleek look for my gym clothes, and a lot of the stuff here looked boring and like they tried to copy Alo or Carbon38 unsuccessfully. Thankfully, I was able to use my coupon, because these thin leggings are not worth the price, not even the price after the coupon! read more

I will admit I use to be a Lululemon junkie. But now it's more like move over lulu, hello Athleta. I how have a closet full of Athleta gear and could not be happier. The quality and fit of their apparel is top notch. I decided to stop into this location while in town for work and see what I could pickup to add to my collection. Everybody in the store was very friendly. I liked how they asked if you needed help but didn't cling to your every move, that is something that definitely discourages me from shopping. This store clearly deserves 4, maybe even 4.5 stars, and here's why. While most girls like to compare this to the other store a couple of blocks away that begins with an "L" (okay, it's lululemon), it's a slightly different store catering to a different group of people. I like lululemon and their selection of wild, crazy colors that scream "I'm young and hot!" and the bubbly sales staff are always courteous and super helpful there, but the sales staff here are pretty good, too. I was met with the same courtesy and helpfulness as the lululemon staff and I will go out on a limb by saying that I'm not the typical customer that walks into a yoga/fitness clothing store, so for the staff at both of these stores to be courteous and helpful to me makes me wonder about all the reviewers who gave these places low ratings. (Is it a perception thing? Did you all just go on a bad day?) Anyways, when I was in the dressing room and needed a different size and other styles, there was a staff member who instantly retrieved the new size and other items for me to try. This same staff member helped others in the dressing room equally well, too. Super, super job. And it was on Black Friday, too, the busiest day of the year! Kudos. I wanted to order an item in a size they didn't have and Brittany took the extra step to help me order it first with their online system and then by calling their customer service line since their online system was down. I ordered a bikini from the online website for $59 back in March. Waited for it's arrival and a bathing top came from UPS. I was shocked. There are no return labels, nor any kind of fine print on the site to tell you they are separates. It definitely sends the impression you will be getting a full bikini for that price. I purposely ordered early since I would beat the summer crowd. When I called to inquire they did not even bother to apologize. Rather, they said I can return to the USPS, with me printing out a label or call (on my dime, since they are paperless) UPS and pay to have it shipped back. They really need to specify better what exactly they are selling and/or shipping to their clients. Definitely will never shop here again. read more

I stopped at Athleta Rittenhouse a few years ago. I asked to try on some leggings. The saleslady told me I have "large thighs." I don't know if the woman who insulted me still works there, but I haven't bothered to visit again to find out. Whenever people ask me why I don't shop there, I tell them this story. The salespeople need to read up on body positivity. Lululemon (which is literally next door) gets a lot of bad press, but no one there has ever insulted my body. I ordered online through the Athleta Instagram page and didn't think to check if I could return items ordered through Instagram in person, totally my fault. I went to this specific store to do a return and the individuals working this morning were incredible!! They spent an hour fighting with their online customer service to get me an in store return and help me find a solution. When their online customer service said I could only mail the item back the manager there had me forward her the shipping label customer service had emailed me and shipped the item back for me herself! The entire time all the staff were incredibly helpful, never once seemed impatient or upset and tried earnestly to help me out. They had the best attitudes even though their AC was broken and it's ridiculously hot out! What could have easily been an awful experience ended up being pleasant and I can't thank them enough. As for their clothes, I've loved all the pieces I've ordered. My return was for pants I misjudged the sizing on and it's the only item from them I've ever returned. I try to go to the gym daily, and I'm an artist that frequently works with materials hard on clothes. The staff's attitude was wonderful. They helped me to choose the best fit clothes and swimwear when I kept trying on and on and on them. They brought different size of clothes and different types of bikinis that were my ideal style at the dressing room. The good experience is that they suggested to try smaller sizes. This time I wanted some pants for exercise and hiking, and thought it was the best to wear those that were not tight. They told me what I wore looked big, and it would be good to try one smaller size. I totally thought the size I chose was the best to avoid tightness and just believed a smaller size was worse to run or work out. But the result is that the smaller one was the best. It was not tight at all. Their advice totally made sense and I understood they knew much about each outfit (loose fit, tight fit, bikini top that has a little or maximum support etc...) It is clean and pretty large inside. They have many fitting rooms! read more

Normally, I don't enjoy paying so much $$ for apparel that I'm just going to soak in my sweat and BO, but Athleta has some pretty good products. They're actually pretty comparable to Lululemon Athletica, maybe slightly less expensive for certain products. I work out A LOT, so for certain articles of clothing I'll splurge a bit because the higher quality can withstand my crosstraining exercises - like running leggings - and won't rip, tear, begin to wear out quickly. And more than anything else, I really appreciate the headbands with the non-slip grip that are at least $6 less than Lululemon's - and actually kinda cuter, too. The staff here is SUPER friendly and helpful, and immediately greet me whenever I enter the store, offering to help if I'm looking for something specific. Great addition to Walnut Street. read more

Love Athleta - I can afford it when on sale and has good quality items. Major plus for the brand is the fact that you can try a piece of clothing and based on the experience you have with it, you can keep it or return it (washed). They have here and there sales on top of their sales and you can find really great quality items that you would probably pay triple elsewhere. Every mid - end of summer they have an annual sale. There are many good finds when it comes to swimwear which can be useful since it's still summer. The store is always very organized and items are easy to find. In case you may not be very familiar with the store - the girls are always willing to help. They can give you great advice as well. Myself I'm petite and just paid attention to a little sign that they had up there where they do free hemming. It's great to know as they do not carry petite in the store. Definitely recommend this store and brand to look at your best when it comes to decent quality workout, swimwear or casual clothing. read more

As an avid runner/yogi/lover of all things comfortable, I walked into Athleta and was greeted by the Athleta sea of colors of purple, teal, and pink. And immediately, I was happy. The staff was friendly and helped me pick out the things I needed. Before when I was ordering gear online I felt like the clothes were pretty nicely priced... but walking into the store was a wake-up a call. Lots of of the yoga pants were between $60-$100 and even the yoga tops were in the $60s! But I guess these prices are close to a lot of the other sporting goods stores on Walnut. But in general, I've always been happy with their gear after grumbling to myself about how much I just spent. Honestly, I think what would give this company the edge is if they did lower their prices-- like, be The Old Navy of Sporting Goods. There are plenty of specialty running stores, yoga stops, etc that if they wanted to stand out and get more peeps wearing their gear they should take it down a notch! And also like the other sporting good stores on the block they offer a running group and other workout classes which is cool. You could probably hit up all the stores on Walnut and get a week's worth of working out for free. *Good to know if you don't: the clothes in here are all for women. So if you're a dude who's not currently interested in wearing women's workout clothes, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Store is clean and well spaced out. My issue is not with the store, it's with the sales girl. I had 4 rewards coupons that I wanted to use. The sales girl told me I could only use 3. When I said that I would order the items online, where I could use a total of 5, she started to pressure me to buy from the store. I'm mad at myself for succumbing to her tactics. I wound up buying from the store, not using one of my coupons and spending more than I wanted. That will never happen again. From here on out I'm buying off the website. Sure the items are pricey for sweating in but I can tell the difference between this stuff and things I get from discount stores. Just went to the store today and had an amazing experience. I was looking for black running capris and the sales associate went above and beyond. She recommended a few different styles and told me about sizing. Once I was in the fitting room she came back to check on me and helped me decide on a pair. I usually have a hard time finding good fitting running pants that don't fall down but every pair fit great. I used to go get cheaper pants but the quality and fit here are unlike any other. this is not a review of this specific store so much as the brand in general. every time i go into athleta i've had a fine staff experience. i've never been to a class but i'm giving them 2 stars bc they have classes and they are dog friendly which i like. but i feel that nothing here looks high quality. it all looks tacky and cheap but costs a lot of money which is a huge disconnect. maybe its just my personal style but i've never found one thing here i'd ever want to buy. and when i'm in my running group or at the gym if i see someone wearing something horrendous with an off color tone or a fashion backwards style i ask them where its from and they proudly say athleta. maybe if i wanted weird hiking sandals or some sort of oddly shaped coat i'd think of this place. otherwise i'll head across the street to lululemon and buy something i actually want to wear. read more

After a few online purchases, this was my first trip to a *real* Athleta store. I felt like a kid in the big city coming up from little old Delaware for some high end athletic apparel. The ladies in the Central Philly store did not disappoint! I had a hectic transaction and they were extremely helpful. I returned a pair of La Viva's, and was given a Fitness Professionals Discount Card (a whopper of a discount, 30% off if you teach classes/train at a gym) and a price adjustment for my online purchases. I ended up walking out with a different pair of pants (the Aspires) and a blousey tank top for the same price I paid for the Vivas alone. I can't remember the associate's name (she had a ponytail and glasses) who assisted me in the dressing room but she was a huge help in picking out a different pait of city pants that fit me better. Turns out Athleta is like the Nordstrom of workout apparel, probably to compete with Lululemon. I personally find Athleta's yoga pants to be higher quality and not as sheer as LLL. They also have a wonderful return policy with the "wear it to your workout guarantee" Thanks again for the Philly Store for putting up with me and being the highlight of my Sunday. i have to admit my guilty pleasure is for sure Athleta! honestly since a couple of days ago in new york city i didn't even know that they have stores, i always order online and get catalogues regularly. so when i saw now the second store i discovered i could help it but go in. it was not too busy as , even tough it was a day before christmas. the staff seemed to be very nice and knowledgable , they also left you alone when you told them that you are not looking for anything specific. i picked a few things and tried them on , there was no line at the dressing rooms and service was fast. the yoga pants i tried were great i just needed a different pattern and was lucky enough of find one that was on sale! nice! i asked them for male yoga pants to inform my boyfriend of the different kinds they had , and told them right away that i would not buy them as he has to try them first, they didn't care and even got me one out of the back to make sure i know all models. of course its not the catalogue and there are for sure less items, but its great and they are friendly. not a cheap place surly but i love the quality and colors ! read more

Had great experiences in this store the multiple times I've visited. The staff has always been extremely helpful. I needed to find an outfit for broad street run that met all my criteria (not sure if i can run 10 miles, but i do know what i want to wear while i attempt it). My first time around a sales associate and i walked around the whole store looking for I wanted and needed and she helped me find everything and then some without a problem. If i needed a different size, one would immediately be brought while I was in the fitting room. During another visit, a pair of pants that I wanted had been sold out in store and online, but the sales associate made sure to call a few stores for me and find them. They came in 2 days later! The selection of clothes is a little more on the plain side, which I like. The Chi collection is super soft and durable. I have been running in the Chi tops and washing them like a mad woman and they still stay soft and look brand new! read more

I love this store! Yes they are expensive, but no more than Lululemon. The employees in the store are very helpful. There products are designed to last, and if they don't you can get a full refund. I have been very pleased with the quality and comfort of their swimwear. Bikinis that are designed to actually swim and do water sports in, that's what I'm talking about! Unfortunately they do not carry any sale items in the store, but you can use the in store kiosk to order sale items without the shipping fee. Lack of sale items and the prices is why I did not give this place five stars. read more
