The first two times I came in, the service was great -- helpful, friendly, and attentive. But this last visit was a completely different story. No one greeted us when we walked in. We stood there clearly waiting, but the staff completely ignored us. They were too busy having personal conversations with other people -- not even helping them, just chatting as if it were a hangout spot. One worker spent the entire time stacking shoe boxes and never once looked up or acknowledged us. Not even a "Hey, we'll be with you in a minute." Nothing. We waited patiently, but after about 20 minutes of being completely overlooked, we just walked out. It's one thing to be busy, but this felt like they didn't care at all that we were there. It was rude, unprofessional, and disappointing -- especially considering how good the service used to be. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be coming back. Other running stores actually treat their customers with respect.

The proprietor, Marc Chapman is as knowledgeable about all levels of running (from beginner to competitive athlete), and is very generous about sharing the knowledge with all who enter the world of Kilometers. He will watch you run for a bit, evaluate your mechanics and suggest just the right shoe for you, and work with you over the months and years to continue to guide your shoe selection and educate you on the sport. If there were more retailers with the passion that Chapman has for his trade, the likes of Niketown and Champs never would have existed, because they simply would not be able to compete.

Keep in mind, there were at least 3 employees in the store and ZERO customers, just myself. I only wear SAS shoes because I have wide feet. So, I decided to try out the SAS shoe store at 2500…read moreCentral Park Avenue in Yonkers, NY. I saw a really nice pair of dress shoes size 8 wide. However, when I tried them on, they were a little tight, so they said they could order them in a double wide and call me when they came in. I agreed, and a week later, I went back to try the double wides on. The double wide was even tighter than the wide one. They said they could stretch them, so I went to Starbucks and they stretched the shoes. When I returned, the shoes felt a little better, so I paid for them and took them home thinking that if I walked around with them on at my carpeted house, I'll either stretch them a little more or get used to them. Neither of these things happened. So, I brought them back. They took them back with no hassle, but when they reimbursed my credit card, they reimbursed someone else's name. Now, my name and address was on my receipt, but the person they reimbursed only had a name on that receipt - no address. I noticed this and when I brought it to their attention, they immediately went back into the receipt file and reimbursed my card. This is what I think: this SAS store sells the "poorly crafted" SAS shoes to unsuspecting customers whom they believe won't return the shoes, and if they are returned, they reimburse an employee's card thinking you won't check. But, if you do check, then they reimburse your card. In other words, "Buyer beware!" I've never had a problem with any other store that sells SAS shoes, and SAS is a very good and reputable brand of shoes. It's this store that you have to watch at every turn because they seem to pull all the tricks at every turn! Like I said, be careful of This SAS Store at 2500 Central Park West in Yonkers, NY! Other stores that sell SAS shoes, don't have these problems . . . hmm!
