All of them are very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. They work with you and will try hard to accommodate any schedule. I have been going here since August of 2012 for a torn rotator cuff and again after surgery for same rotator cuff. Twice a week every week and I look forward to it every time. Why? Because of the service. The people that work there are not only great therapists, but great people in general. From the moment you walk in and are greeted in a very friendly manner to the time you are with the therapist, you couldn't feel more at home and welcome. Everyone who comes in, does so with a smile and they all leave with a smile. Easy to get to, easy to schedule to your needs and friendly and professional, go here for all your rehab needs. They helped my grandma immensely after her light stroke and subsequent partial paralysis of her left leg. Can they make some improvements? As with any product, company, service, or people in general, of course, there's room for improvement. Communication by the nurse's desk was about average. They often seemed too stressed and that hindered the value of the communication. One side of me feels I get they're stressed, the job has to be very stressful at times, and I appreciate what they do! Then again, I'm freaking stressed!!! This is my loved one who's just been hurt and who knows when it'll all be over for them. There are horror stories about old people in care facilities that was a fear of mine, too. I personally spent hours and hours of my time taking care of my grandma, visiting her, advocating, talking to nurses, doctors, facility workers, tons of phone calls. So, being unstressed with the family during the very limited amount of times that you're communicating with us will only help the situation. We all choose our jobs, after all! I would get the calls from nurses and aids (that I made100% clear that I wanted) concerning my grandma's health. Falls, for example. I'll never know if they called every time, but they did call several times to let me know, so I appreciate that. And I feel it's warranted to believe that they did call each time. As far as medications, not as much cooperation/clarity. I adamantly expressed keeping me involved in her meds, including talking to the nurse's supervisor. And for all of you family members reading this if there's one thing I highly express to you it is: keep on top of your loved one's medications!!! Yea, I don't know all about drugs or meds, either. But, there's no excuse anymore with the advent of the internet! Look that stuff up! Ask friends! Post on social! You'll be surprised how many people you know in your network that same some job or affiliation in the medical world and can help shed light. Some meds are necessary, I have no problem with that. But, factually, especially in this country it seems, many are too strong or not necessary at all. If she seems sad, like I get sometimes, too, I didn't want her drugged up and shut up. Sine all this, my grandma is now gone, and I cried several times since that, too! I don't think I need to run and get an anti-psychotic depressant. Just use common sense and your gut when it comes to this stuff. The answers to life aren't in some pill sold by big pharma. Up to you if you want to advocate for your family member. I did and I am so very glad that I made that choice. I also really liked the younger male therapist. He really tried hard and went longer than his colleagues wanted to -- so appreciate that. This was some time back now since my granny was there, so I don't even know if he's still there. The grounds are nice, but I wish there was sidewalk and more access area so you could go further pushing in a wheelchair. Maybe they did that purposefully, don't know! All I could do was go in small circles. Which, honestly probably seemed bigger to my grams than to me. Overall I think she did get good care here. But, I can't say enough... call, check in on them, ask questions, ask about the drugs they are getting whether here or anywhere else!

As with anywhere there are a few bad apples in the bunch but for the most part their staff is amazing and love what they do. The ladies on unit 1 are hands down my favorites and they always want my mom on their unit. I hope we never need their services again but if we do we will be going back to Maple Ridge. PS the only bad part is the food. I'd like to see it improved.

Ultimately, it became clear to me that VMP does not like staff who speak up and their primary goal is to better cover up issues rather than actually fix them. They are currently under corrective action from the state and have a one star rating. The HR manager slipped up today when I pressed her and admitted she had conversations with the CEO, COO, and therapy director and that they were concerned that I would be one to report issues that I saw and that was the primary reason that they decided to rescind my job offer. Prior to this conversation, I was given a bunch of other conflicting reasons and lies were made up, including claiming that I refused to accept the pay they offered me even though I only learned in that conversation that they actually got exactly what I asked for approved. Holly (HR) and Lisa (HR manager) were the two people I've been dealing with for the last month and I would recommend that you get everything in writing or record your conversations with them in particular to protect yourself (WI does not require you to let them know you are recording them FYI). Holly said so many lies it made my head spin and the few times I had hard evidence that she was lying her story would change entirely and she would say that she "made a mistake" and "misspoke". Lisa said that Holly followed company policy, even when I pointed out that Holly was even caught in a lie in a conversation we all had on the phone together. Lisa also claimed that no one has ever said Holly is unprofessional, implying that I was the issue, but in the exact same sentence said that Holly admitted to being unprofessional with her lack of communication with me and follow through of actually calling me when she said she would (for reference, on several occasions she would tell me she'd call me on Friday, and then we didn't speak again until the following Thursday only because I would call her). Ultimately, the therapy department is understaffed right now, they told me how desperately they needed my help, and offered me the job on the spot, but they would rather operate understaffed than risk having an employee who advocates for the residents. I am passing this information along to the state too since they are still under corrective actions, but feel it's important that potential employees and residents are aware of the depth of problems here. Other past employee reviews on different websites also echo that anyone who speaks up about treatment of residents is fired, so be prepared to file a whistleblower claim if you take a job here. As someone who rarely reviews places, it really means something that this place made me concerned enough to warn people on several review platforms. I knew that VMP had high turnover in staff, but now I know why.

I then updated it in January, as I feel it's completely dishonest to write a review and not share both good and bad. There seemed to be a bit of confusion as to who was involved in writing it. It is written solely by me, and is based on my experience dealing with this facility. I am reposting with this clarification. My mom completed a stay at this facility in September 2025. There was nothing but positive things we can say about the employees and the rehabilitation hospital itself. Literally everyone we dealt with, from the front receptionist to security, to nurses, therapists, etc. were fantastic. A nurse named Whittany was especially helpful in speaking with the doctor about a concern, and calling me to follow up. Edit to review in January 2026 My mom had ended up back in the hospital, and needed rehab. She was accepted again at the Milwaukee Rehab Hospital, I was contacted by them, and everything was all set. A couple days later the hospital social worker told me the rehab place had withdrawn the spot, and gave no explanation. I never heard a word from the rehab hospital. I should add in here I left a VM for the contact person I had dealt with, letting her know how disappointed I was in the handling of this. I believe she was out of the office, but I never received any call once she returned, or follow up from anyone else. I left that out of the first review because I was simply trying to explain the lack of communication without going into detail. Thankfully my mom went elsewhere and received excellent care, but this completely changed my view of this facility. I hope the people in charge at any rehab place put themselves in the families' place and understand what it's like to go from placement to denial with no contact and no explanation. It would definitely change the impact made if information was given. If anyone from the Rehab Hospital wishes to contact me, my number is on file.
