Nice practitioners, but unfortunately they weren't able to help out me with my particular concerns.

I went home .. The pain continued to get worse - now it is really raising my blood pressure. Emailed my sports medicine doctor - who is affiliated with this clinic ..to tell her about the pain and was told she would evaluate me in TWO weeks! Yes! You read that right! I will have to wait for two weeks to be evaluated. If you have broken bones - and are in pain - go elsewhere for REAL medical attention. Never again! Worst possible care. They (this is systemic within many Froedtert clinics ) treat everyone like we are all drug addicts. Apparently they don't understand that not giving pain medication when it is truly needed and appropriate ...is as bad as over prescribing or prescribing medication when it isn't needed. No common sense! How can you possibly trust a doctor with no common sense? You CAN'T! Unethical and unprofessional. Heartless.

When I called the Orthopedic Institute of Wisconsin to schedule the appointment I wasted a lot of time calling when they don't have a scheduler answering the phone and I only got some answering service that can't take a message, can't schedule, why bother answering the phone? When I finally got a scheduler she wasted a good amount of my time and patience asking about my insurance. I'm well insured, Medicare and a supplemental, but she said she couldn't confirm that I have any insurance and wouldn't make the appointment. Not a single question about my health. I contacted the nurse practitioner, who by the way responds quickly via MyChart message (in contrast to the Orthopedic Institute which is stuck in a 20th century style of telephone only communication) who gave me the name of another orthopedic surgeon, unfortunately also with Orthopedic Institute. Another round of trying to call and finally getting a scheduler, this time she was able to find my records from a prior visit (I have spinal stenosis) and then implied I had done something wrong because my insurance had changed. Yes it changed, I retired, I became eligible for Medicare, this should be available information to anyone doing scheduling. So after taking more time to submit my new information, only then would she schedule me....for two weeks out. Nothing sooner, no concern for how I feel (I'm in pain), no sympathy whatsoever, all they are concerned with is my ability to pay. I asked if they have a cancelation list, they do not, "because it's a big clinic with a lot of providers." Shouldn't that mean that there are more cancelations that could be filled? I guess they don't care since they must bill for cancelations. To top it all off, the appointment isn't for the appointment time, I have to be there earlier (so make the appointment for the time you want me there!) and I must bring all my insurance cards. Trust issues, even though on the phone call she verified my insurance they need to check again before giving me any treatment. If you have any choice in the matter, find someplace else for orthopedic care. Some place that actually cares about your health more than payment.

The office staff doesn't give a shit, and couldn't be less helpful. Get ready for phone tag hell.
