Brought my newborn daughter here to help with evening out her neck muscles. She had a tendency to only look to one side. We didn't realize Athletico had a pediatric physical therapist and we were having trouble finding anyone with availability. Luckily, our pediatrician was able to find them for us and we're glad they did. The entire group was very friendly and loved our daughter. Kara did a great job working with her and she got better so quickly! The physical therapists were FANTASTIC and fixed my back problems. HOWEVER, the billing department is so shady. Every time I went in for my appointment I paid my copay. 1 year later after I already finished my last session, I started getting invoices from Athletico saying I owed them $180 still in copays. But their online billing system nor the actual invoices breaks down what the cost owed is even for. Come to find out once I got an EOB from my insurance, they decided to take my 1 hour appointments and split it into 15 min increments. AND BILL A COPAY FOR EACH ONE! They weren't even consistent with which appointments they were splitting up to charge me extra, and every session was exactly the same. I finally got my insurance to deal with them because they made it confusing as hell and had no answers when I tried to talk to them over the phone. Go if you want great care, but beware their very shady billing department. I'll be nice and give the therapists 3 stars, but taking 2 due to the very frustrating and shady billing dept. read more

Great service. Got me back to a good baseline! I have been able to return to the gym and get my shoulder back in shape.

I had a very bad hip/glute injury prior to and after completing a marathon. After xrays and 2 MRIs and several different treatments Paul was able to get me back into running shape. It was a long injury, and I am still not 100% yet, but Paul's ability to work with me and patience throughout the experience really was refreshing. A lot of doctors and healthcare providers rush you in and out. Paul did all he could do in the limited time and sessions I had left on my insurance and I am sure he would do the same for you. I think the best part was that he showed me ways to treat myself so that I was not dependent on his services, a rarity in these types of professions. read more

After and ACL repair and partial meniscectomy (when your Meniscus isn't repairable), I was referred to Paul at this location. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable and professional, but you can tell that he genuinely cares about his patients. He takes time to inquire as to how his therapy is working for you in a manner that is also conducive to your doctor's prescribed regiments. He always finds new ways to help you push you past a plateau. My end goal is to return to being not only healthy, but athletic. Paul and the Mt. Kristina, Kara and all the other staff at Athletico Mount Prospect were a HUGE help in providing relief from pain that left me barely able to walk upright. Then, after that treatment went as far as it could, I had to go in for surgery. I then came back to Athletico for post-op PT. After several months of working with me I was nearly back to normal. I am continuing to work on my PT and I have full confidence I'll recover 100%. I highly recommend Athletico Mount Prospect. All the staff worked with me for 5 mths. Every one of them were always friendly, professional and helpful. Kristina even created several exercises that were sport specific and helped me to build up the "right" muscles and regain balance in "tricky situations"...which come up in real life and in sport. Two years ago to this day, I saw Kristina for an appointment. In addition to a separate problem, my Rx ordered treatment for loss of ROM (plantarflexion, specifically) in the 1st MTP (great toe) joint of my right foot after a cheilectomy more than a year prior. This was something that an Athletico employee of another location abrogated completely during my post-operative care. In PT, ROM (range of motion) measurements are as elementary as a primary care physician telling you to step on a scale during an annual physical. Any reduction in ROM, for various reasons, is bad. There are two ways to measure ROM - actively (moving a joint yourself) and passively (therapist moves it). The 1st MTP joint is strong, very important, and - in some people, like me - very fragile. Trust me - you don't want it to hurt. In almost 18 months of receiving care for my problematic joint, no one had ever measured its ROM passively. Kristina had other ideas. She pushed on my toe with the base of her palm until it couldn't move any further - and then she kept pushing. Hard. VERY hard. Then, she did the same thing in the other direction. And finally, she repeated the process on my left foot for comparison.PT's love to tell you how hard they have to work tissues, but this wasn't intended to be treatment - it was measurement, no different than gauging your height. It was a very awkward display; she was bracing my foot and holding a protractor up to the joint in one hand, and pushing with the other. Try to picture that. When I woke up the following morning, both of my 1st MTP joints, along with both of my EHL tendons (raise your big toe and you'll see what those are), were aflame. I had never felt anything like it. Furious during my return visit, she extended an "I do apologize!" with the sincerity of a harried waitress who had brought the wrong order. She massaged the areas with ice, which calmed them down for the night. The next morning, the pain was back in full force. Something was very wrong. Paul, the facility manager of this location, offered to see me free of charge. After examination, he told me that Kristina had done nothing wrong and that my pain was, and I quote, "weird." Thanks, bro - just the kind of concern and expertise an owner should have. I immediately left Mt. Prospect Athletico. Other providers of various qualifications told me that the pain would heal. It never did. MRI's taken more than a year later showed a massive osteochondral lesion on the site of my original surgery. How to fix? Another surgery, of course. On the other side, a bone spur that will likely require a cheilectomy of its own grows every day. Those are my 1st MTP joints. My EHL tendons? They've hurt so much that wearing SOCKS has been painful. Eventually, months after the MRI's were taken, I stumbled on a treatment that, so far, has showed promise in resolving the pain. Doesn't change a thing about what Paul and Kristina did. After she chronically injured two joints and two tendons, they both let me rot in a mess of their own making. read more

This is my second stint with Athletico Mt. Prospect, and both times treatment has been very effective and also alleviated pain early on in it. No pain meds (even stopped taking regular Advil). Good professionals not only treat effectively; they also explain what they are doing and why it works, which has helped me build better routines at home to prevent recurrence. Great place and highly recommend. I have used this place twice now over the last 3 years for knee surgery (ACL & meniscus) rehab and both times were excellent. Kristina, Kara and the rest of the staff are very nice & attentive. Due to covid, and our family working from home, I had many schedule challenges and April helped me out a lot with shuffling dates around. I was having problems with my rotators cup so my doctor recommended physical therapy. I was a little skeptical at first of how this would help. I met with Kara Kinnear my Therapist and she has worked wonders with my shoulder. After a couple of weeks I feel as good as new and really have an interest in what she shows me to do. Kara is always pleasant and cares about my improvement. She is truly an asset to Athletico. Her training truly shows in her work. The employees work so well together which makes the customers feel positive and I know when I leave I feel so much better. Unlucky for me, I had the pleasure of going through therapy twice at this location. The first time I tore my ACL and MCL during the junior year of my collegiate football career. The second visit was due to surgery on a torn labrum in my shoulder. Kara created a plan specific to my goals and pushed me to reach them.
