I was happy with the staff but the price per visit was extremely high. I will not go back-ever!

Having had a not so good experience at a Renaissance with a relative, I decided to choose Manor Care for my post-hospital care. I am very glad I chose Manor Care as my experience there was very good. From the nurses to the Physical/Occupational Therapy Staff everyone was attentive to my needs. Quite honestly as I was there over Christmas, I thought the staffing would not be as attentive, but I was wrong. There was more than a skeleton staff there the whole weekend and everyone was more than happy to help out. Even the food at this location was excellent. Sure there were some drawbacks but the staff there made sure I was comfortable and they helped me get better while I was there just over a week. If I ever had the need for skilled nursing again or I knew someone else who needed it, I would not hesitate to recommend Manor Care as their service is excellent and am grateful that this place helped me on the road to recovery.

Sometimes just taking a step back and put yourself in their shoes, and trust people are doing things with best of intentions. Unfortunately for us (meaning everyone, not the staff) human nature sometimes makes us think the worse of people, a mindset that we only can change within ourselves. Friendly staff, no one wants to be in a nursing home, call light response time is just very slow at high volume times.

#19/2024 After having a major leg bypass and a two toe…read moreamputation at the University of Chicago and Hyde Park Illinois main campus I was not equipped to head home just yet because my leg was not cooperating for the stairs that we're going to be needed. I chose Elevate Care Center and Palos heights because it wasn't too far from home and the reviews on Google were good the one review on Yelp I just kind of laughed at. Elevate care centers are basically a group of rehab and nursing homes managed by a corporation who are buying older facilities and remodeling them and doing a whole lot more they're not brand new built from the ground places. This location in Palos heights Illinois in the Chicago suburbs is basically once known as The park Villa nursing home Center. They added on a few years back to the rehab part you can see the difference as you come through between the old building and the new building. Is it still a nursing home for the most part with long-term care and long-term rehab but they have branched out into short-term rehab. The rehab rooms are quite nice they have very good air conditioning units I can say there were some very very hot days and did a killer job cooling the room.. they also have refrigerators in the room. The only thing they don't have is a microwave but there is a microwave you can use by the dining area community dining areas they call it. Through the most part the staff is quite cordial. Although they're a little limited sometimes on the night shift it is possible you will push the button to get a CNA and have to wait a little while depending on what area of the building they're in. It happens in the post covid world. The nurses are fairly thorough they get your medicines dispensed in a timely manner each throughout the day and night if need. You're assigned to Doctor who basically just oversees your pills and looks over things and reports you don't really consider him a main doctor but he just kind of the doctor that's there at the facility. The TVs are really nice only problem is they're not high-def here in 2024 LOL. They're a little staticky but it is what it is. There's a decent choice of channels for the most part though. There are no showers in the rooms except for a couple of the older units you have basically community showers you're allowed to showers a week. But the bathrooms are very nice good sink good water pressure. The cleaning crew comes in once a day or every other day and gets the floor and supplies garbage cans ETC. if you happen to need your sheets change she just asked one of the nurses during the day and they will. The wound care team is very good also they basically changed my dressings as needed about every 3 days which was fine they did a very good job two days during the week except the weekend. Clean the wounds and the stitches and everything so I had no trouble as far as I went. The food's good it's not great all the time you get a menu and it pretty much tells you what you're going to get. The nice thing is though there's food delivery nearby you can call out and have it delivered I did a few times Pizza, Jimmy John's, and dad brought me a Italian beef one day. My sister went to the store for me I gave her a list so I was able to have Doritos and yogurt cottage cheese diet Dr pepper and stuff like that if I needed not having to waste a bunch of money on the vending machines. As I said it's a decent place it's not perfect they have their hiccups here and there but for the most part they do what they can and as for short-term rehab I was only in there a little over a week I didn't have many problems. They keep up on your appointments as long as you let them know when they are they weren't able to arrange a medical car for me on the day I had to go back to Hyde Park Illinois but the head of nursing Don director of nursing did give me an Uber, and because I had some trouble here and there they had somebody escort me and go with me on that day too so that was very professional. But I will definitely say is the PT and the OT team are very good and thorough they will get you bring you and get you moving which is a good thing and that's what I needed was leg strengthening and they worked with me so when I went home I was able to climb the stairs. I have eight stairs leading upstairs and I have seven stairs leading downstairs from the hallway. So all in all it's been pretty good and because of the fact that my left leg is not in the greatest of shape I may have to repeat the process again I would probably pick here yet again. If I needed rehab. So basically it's really three and a half stars but when I look at everything even with the little hiccups here and there I bumped it up to four stars because I didn't like seeing the one star and the reason as to why this guy was complaining

My great aunt who never complains, immedicately asked for us to get her out of there after tranistioning to the long term care side. She was there for 4 very long months. The administrator never responded to phone calls and admitted that the best way to engage with him was on-site. The care team sent her to Northwestern Palos Hospital without contacting her family. Worst care experience witnessed. Do not send your loved ones here.

There is constant cursing and staff talking to the residents rudely. There is no accountability and when I filed a complaint about a situation that occurred, it wasn't taken seriously and I decided not to return. The type of professional care is few and far between; the good workers typically don't stay.

Then staff scrambling to this day by not having some kind of plan . Rude staff. I heard a CNA Jazmine tell a patient she was nasty. The patient could not swallow her food so the CNA took her food tray and put it on the food cart. I guess Jazmine thought calling the patient nasty a couple of times was her way of helping the patient. That lady and another man died within hours of each other in a few days later. Most not all nursing staff need to do better. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians you can say. I stay in Unit 2 so I can't say all but the CNAs I deal with on a daily basis are bad. Lazy rude, late on call lights. Talk about patients. Best of all leave the facility on company time. Not for breaks either. Kitchen it took several months for them to get it right as far as my dietary needs. I am here for a reason so I cannot eat certain foods. Week after week my trays were not accurate.. It took my family to call here and get upset. Now so far it's ok. Food is bad. Not nutritional. Slop whatever for us old folk I guess. This is just a few of many the corporate needs to investigate. Laundry and House keeping is good. Wendy and Jackie are great. Call light alarm system is not hooked up to the nursing stations. The rely on vision not sound. If someone pulls the call cord no alarm goes too the nurse's station. So if a lightbulb burns out or the staff just is too lazy to get up off their behinds, that patient will just be neglected. Neglect and abuse are a Team here at Palos Heights Rehabilitation Center in Crestwood Illinois. Thank You.

I was recommended to this woman owned business from my podiatrist who has a business near the area…read more I decided to try them in November, 2024. I was shocked how large this facility is. I have been to prior physical therapy business where there was only 1 therapist who dealt with you solely and I have also been to other therapy businesses where there are several therapists to choose from to get your therapy. I feel it's only fair to break down this review/rating into categories: Location: 2 stars - convenient Beverly location with ample parking in their private lot. I didn't feel comfortable parking in the lot - although there are tall light posts back there, they don't come on and it's completely dark in the lot. I would try my best to park on the side of the business but it's limited parking over there and they had started construction in that area as well where temporarily you couldn't park in those spaces. Treatment: 4 stars - physical therapists really work hard to help your condition. They thoroughly massage the injured area, give you exercises at the facility and at home. I feel the treatment did help my foot quite a bit. I didn't like the fact that even though I could of had an appointment with my scheduled therapist, if they were still working on someone, another therapist would guide you as to what your therapist notes are to do until your therapist is available. Staff: 2 stars - front desk staff was nice and friendly. The physical therapists were friendly as well which I could appreciate. What I didn't like is the unprofessionalism that not all but a few of the therapists had. While I would be getting my massages, certain therapists would be talking negatively about other clients out in the open by either saying their name outright or using first initial, last initial in front of everyone. I was also directly given information from two therapists about patients there (who they liked, who they didn't) and as a client, I shouldn't be told about any of that, it made me uncomfortable. I'm not going to be trusting that when I'm not around that I won't get talked about too and it's a valid concern. Staff needs to have a level or professionalism and be very careful also what's talked about due to HIPAA laws. Privacy: 1 star - The facility is built very well - each station had a table with a surrounding curtain to use for privacy but they were not being used most of the time (I only saw it used once while there). I saw body parts that I shouldn't of seen (e.g. a man's fully bare hairy chest (and he was a big man). These curtains should be used to give the privacy necessary for who is being treated and other clients around. That's what they are there for. Equipment: 5 stars - There is all kinds of equipment there to help you with whatever ailment on your body you have from exercise machines to balls to ultrasound machines for massage/pain therapy. I'm glad this business was able to help me but I do hope the things mentioned can be worked on because they are serious issues that can make or break someone continuing to use this facility.
