The first night was not favorable, no staff greeted us and the person that first entered the room was solely focused on inventory of her belongings and not helping her into bed or other important firsts. However, much to my surprise, day 2 through 7 were much better. The nurses are very efficient and caring as well as the physical therapy and occupational therapy teams. One nurse, Wesley really stood out. Truly exceptional! My advice in general is visit your loved one often in this type of environment, but Harmony overall is a very good choice!

Multiple employees, including employees (CNAs, nurses) that have direct interaction and contact with residents. Many of whom are older folks who might be more susceptible to illnesses. I don't know, are there any of those going around in 2022? Can't be anything more than sniffles I suppose. One nurse in particular was kind of a jerk. I had to ask the nurse/nurse assistant to put her mask on since I'd seen her coming in without it. When someone asked her something--about how long something might take--her response was a kind of flippant, snotty "it takes however long it takes". I think the question was really more how far is it, is it crowded or whatnot, will I have to wait... to which she could have answered either without the biting tone or simply been a bit more kind.

I asked on a Palatine Facebook page if anyone knew how to find a place and I was directed to this service. Upon getting in contact with them, they were kind and compassionate during such an awful time in our lives. They provided me with five top notch places to look into. They followed up even after we secured a place. I would highly recommend this service to anyone that needs some assistance in locating a facility like this. Thank God for a service like this.

If you are independent and able to perform activities of daily living without assistance, it's a pretty good place. But watch out, if you need assistance with toileting. Many a times, I've found my mother soaking wet and soiled. When this is brought to the attention of the management, they tell you that there is a policy to make sure that toileting needs are taken care of every two hours and you see a temporary improvement. But, it is just that - it is temporary. There is lack of adequate oversight and there seems to be a constant shortage of CNAs and some of the CNAs are not responsive or responsible. My mother ended up having a severe urinary tract infection with hemorrhaging and horrendous bed sores.

When Leadership Fails, Residents Are the Ones Put at Risk…read more Residents in long-term care facilities deserve to receive care in an environment built on safety, professionalism, accountability, and trust. When serious concerns involving potentially impaired employees are reported, those concerns should never be minimized or ignored. There are allegations that a CNA has reported to work while under the influence and that a nurse has allegedly consumed alcohol and smoked while on duty while also being responsible for administering residents' medications. If substantiated, these allegations represent an extremely serious threat to resident safety and raise significant questions about supervision and leadership. Administrator Joanna and LPN/Manager Juliah should be held accountable for how these concerns are handled. Leadership has a fundamental responsibility to promptly investigate credible reports, protect vulnerable residents, and ensure that employees entrusted with their care are fit to perform their duties. This is bigger than workplace conflict. Medication administration requires concentration, judgment, and professionalism. Residents should never be placed in a position where their health or safety could be compromised because leadership failed to intervene. Families place an enormous amount of trust in nursing facilities when they entrust their loved ones to their care. That trust must be earned through transparency, responsible management, and decisive action when safety concerns arise. Residents deserve better. Families deserve answers. And leadership must be accountable when resident safety is at stake.
