The owner Artin was great to work with, super responsive (which is very important when you're dealing with construction), and handled everything for us, from obtaining permits to scheduling inspections and hiring the best subcontractors who are experts at what they do. Our pool build took 3 months from start to finish (not including time to secure the permits) and was completed in time for us to enjoy it during the sizzling hot days of this past summer. Amazing! Artin came by often during construction to check on progress and make sure the job was getting done right and to his standards. He even discovered some minor issues that he took the initiative to get fixed, and of course took care of any concerns that we brought up as well. We also added an auto pool cover for safety reasons since we have young kids, plus a wifi connected system that lets us control the spa, pool temperature and LED lights using an app on our phones. Artin and his crew were exceptional! We have nothing but great things to say about the level of service we received. We initially went with another company who was a huge disappointment--so we backtracked and contacted Artin again and they were ready to start on our project pretty quickly. They demolished our backyard and started the excavation rather quickly. Ultimately, they put in a pool, an outdoor shower, and a bar area equipped with a grill, sink, and refrigerator. I wish there was a way to write 0 stars. My friend attempted to use Artin for her pool in Encino. At first she liked and trusted him- The key phrase being AT FIRST. At first Artin seemed completely organized, reasonably priced, on top of every detail. So then my friend referred me to him and I worked with him on my pool plans in Studio City. Suddenly we both started experiencing the same thing with him-he wouldn't follow through on the tasks he was supposed to, he lied about the status of the project and what he had completed, he made false promises about dates, and ultimately he never delivered on a pool for either of us. Let me tell you, this guy took us for a ride. He is very dishonest and quite frankly, horrible at his job. We had to remind him of what was missing from our plans, what had to be done next, etc. It was never him proactively working on moving the process along. Needless to say, both my friend and I went on to hire new contractors, and it's been a smooth process ever since Artin was no longer involved. Artin made false promises, he was very dishonest about the projects he was working on and where mine fit into his schedule, he never owned up to any mistakes, he would not return phone calls for WEEKS, the list goes on and on. I'm telling you, my friend and I were on edge with anxiety for months dealing with him. It was HORRIBLE. I am writing this review to warn anyone looking for a pool contractor. Run. Run as far away as you possibly can. This guy is a liar, a snake and a crook. This is not the guy who is going to complete the job for you. Athlon and Artin (owner) are amazing! When I bought my place a year ago, I needed someone to come out and scope out the work the pool needed. Artin was honest and straightforward and, best of all, doesn't try to up sell. He has since replastered the pool, exchanged out my old pump for a variable speed, and since I liked his work so much, he helped design and build my bbq area. He's quick to answer questions and come thru if anything is wrong. Only caveat is he's very very busy, so projects might run a little bit longer than expected, but the results are worth it! Highly recommend for any of your pool service/repair needs! This company is prompt, courteous and very knowledgable. Does not hard sell or push anything your pool doesn't need. We had never owned a pool before and moved into our home two years ago. We could see some areas needing patching and wanted to get rid of ugly staining in areas. Not sure of the age or the condition of the plaster, we didn't know what would be involved with the repairs nor if it was possible to have a cleaner looking pool... while being on a tight budget? Artin came the same day I called (he was in the area) and looked over our pool and gave a service/repair recommendation & estimate. He could tell that our pool was about 30 years old due to the plumbing and the use of the copper pipes. He was very knowledgable about the action and care with handling a pool in our environment, our pool is built at the bottom of a steep cliff. He was very clear about his recommendations and all the possible "unknown factors" once the pool was drained and accessing the condition of the plaster around the areas needing patching. He gave several recommended options and verbal cost estimates for each option. We had gotten two other estimates (one solely over the phone - never looking at our pool). Both in the same price range and less than Athlon Pool. Neither of the other 2 companies were bonded, nor could I find their contractors license listed. Neither were as through as Athlon Pools with their assessments of the job and neither addressed the unknown factors like Artin did. We felt this was a case of "you get what you pay for" and we could not afford a disaster by going with the wrong contractor for this job. As soon as we decided to give the job to Athlon Pools, Artin (2 weeks later, still remembered us) emailed us a written estimate (same as the verbal price he quoted us) and had us scheduled for the job early the following week. He stayed in communication with us up until starting the job and was very accommodating with scheduling the work around our schedule. The day the job took place, 9:30 in the morning Artin personally started to drain our pool. By 3:30pm, his men were acid washing the pool's plaster and doing the patch work. By 5:30 pm the job was finished, started to refill the pool, were cleaned up and ready to leave. Another plus, they take credit cards! Our pool looks amazing! Almost brand new looking! Artin even updated our pool drain cover at no extra charge! Now we know the "health condition" of our pool. Artin, check the condition of the plaster for the entire pool and said it should last another 20 years! (Love his honesty!!!!) Yes, Athlon's estimate was a little more than the other estimates we received, but Artin's company is licensed, bonded and accredited with the BBB. PLUS, his knowledge and expertise in the field (and patience answering all of our questions with advice for future pool projects) made using Athlon Pool Co. the right choice! I had a small problem with my pool's saline system. Called close to 10 guys. They either didn't return my call, or weren't interested, or never showed up. One guy tried to sell me a $3400 upgrade right over the phone. Not Artin. He diagnosed the problem right over the phone. He came out the next day and replaced the faulty part. I should start saying that the main reason I decided to call this company was because of all their 5 star reviews. However, my experience was totally opposite. I made an appointment for someone to come in between 9am-10am and give me an estimate, but nobody showed up. Yet, I called after half an hour and asked them if they still coming and the guy said he is running late; has to take care of a client and will come at 1pm or 1:15pm. I got a call again around 12 30 that he is on his way will be there in half an hour, again another call 20 minutes after that his car is "overheated" and can't come. He asked me what day is good for me to reschedule and I said I can do tomorrow. He said he will be there 11am tomorrow, but he never showed up and I never even got a call from anybody canceling the appointment. I WASTED TWO MORNINGS OF MY TIME WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO COME GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE FOR REPLASTERING THE POOL. I live in the Burbank area and have owned a pool for 15 years. I've been thru a number of service people. Art is a solid business guy. I've never had anybody answer their phone on a Sunday (pools always have problems on the weekend when you want to use them) and have absolutely never had anyone help me diagnose and check the problem over the phone without wanting a service call maybe 2 or 3 days later, if they bother to show at all.
