Dr Mustafa examined me and took an X-ray . I was scheduled for surgery on Tuesday. I was Dr Mustafa's last surgery on Tuesday afternoon. He put a titanium plate in my wrist. I did physical therapy with Maher Kharma into August 2019. Both Dr Mustafa and Mäher Kharma helped me get back to my old self , I can't thank them enough for their help in my time of need. What a difference a year makes, I reflect back on what my experience would have been like had I broken my wrist in 2020 instead of 2019. Was a patient a few years ago complaining of rib pain. Was a patient for ~1YR. I had 6 broken ribs…read morein 9 places, JUST ON MY RIGHT SIDE ALONE, and they NEVER DISCOVERED THE BROKEN BONES, which is super negligent on their part as I had monthly visits with them. My doctor did not do any imaging, such as CT scans or MRIs, despite the vast majority of broken ribs only showing up on these types of imaging. They gave me Tylenol #3 and low level pain killers, which we both acknowledged weren't working, so I ceased taking them. They sent me to their Physical therapy practice, who had my FOAM ROLLING MY (unknowingly) BROKEN RIBS, which increased the inflammation in that area 10 fold, leaving me in tears from the pain. I have attached a picture of the foam rolling at their PT practice. There's also a video where their PT can be heard saying "Massage it (referring to the foam roller on) over the rib cage." This was her while instructing me to roll over all 9 fractures on my right side. There were additional fractures on my left side. They then encouraged me to get a rhisotomy, which is a procedure for your NECK, which was very expensive and painful, and not effective. It of course didn't work as the injury in lied in my ribs, not my neck, as I told them many, many, many times to no avail.In hindsight, it's crazy that I gave them so much money, from the co-pays, to the pointless and damaging PT, to then getting a very expensive, out of pocket procedure that they kept pushing. They were so negligent over the year I saw them. Not only were they negligent, but they set my healing back not only for that year, but years to come as I believed them as they had credentials. It was only after I moved states and was having pain where a doctor actually paid attention, did a CT scan, and was FLABBERGASTED that APMI did not try to do even as little as basic imaging on the ribs and kept sending me to their PT center down the hall and letting them collect my money multiple times a week while foam rolling broken bones. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!!! I also think they billed me for something incorrectly, but I've left them so many messages about it over the years and they have not returned a single one.

My…read moredad was my PCP for years, but after he retired I struggled for years to find a new PCP... and stumbled on Dr. Maslen based on a recommendation on our community list serve. Making him our family doc was the best decision we ever made. He is INCREDIBLY approachable; you never feel rushed, he takes the time to answer all questions big and small -- and over all just seems to go the extra mile, and REALLY & TRULY CARE about his patients. PCPs/General practitioner family docs are a dying breed. To find a PCP that is a sole practitioner, not in a large medical group is EXTREMELY rare, if not basically extinct these days. It makes SUCH a HUGE difference to have a doc, where you are HIS patient rather than just another number to a random group practice. The gold ol' days of medicine are almost gone and it is just so amazing that Dr. Maslen is still there. All the pressures in medicine today push, if not force docs to sell their practices and join these large medical groups-- costs, insurance, etc are the culprit here. We are just so thankful to have a doctor that loves what he does and endures the incredible pressures to retain his independent sole practice. Idk.. I could keep rambling... but there are not enough words to convey how grateful my wife and I are for Dr. Maslen.
