They say it's the customers fault for not following through, so make sure you talk to someone for every email and issue you on put through the website!! took 4 months to cancel but it's the customer's fault the website doesn't work properly. They never did. After a month of waiting, I called them. They blamed my builder. I was told someone would call me back. No one did. I called again. They blamed me. Yes, that's right, it's my fault they didn't call me. I left a message and was told I'd get a call, so how is that my fault? So she instead called it a "miscommunication" that she waited more than a week to call me back. There's no ownership here, no focus on customer service -- and I haven't even written these people a check yet. I can't imagine how it would be if I were under a contract with them. It took me finally getting to a manager to get someone moving. He confirmed that yes, my message did get through to the person it was intended for, and they just didn't call me back for more than a week. He scheduled someone to come out after five weeks of me waiting. The technician that arrived was nice enough, and he installed my system quickly. I had no questions, and he told me it was an easy install, that usually customers take a lot more time and ask a lot of questions. He told me that my next door neighbor was a little slow to understand the system, giving me the impression that he thought they were dumb. "They're ... uh, older," he said. What did that accomplish? After he left, the video doorbell didn't work. I spent a good deal of time on my own going through the doorbell's troubleshooting steps. It still didn't work. I emailed KMT. No response. No surprise there. I called KMT, and was put through to an in-office technician. He was nice enough, but the troubleshooting steps didn't fix the doorbell. It still does not work. He blamed my WiFi. Again, it's always someone else's fault. But wait, shouldn't the technician that was here have checked that out and had a solution if it was really my WiFi? My phone gets full signal strength at the door. The tech explained that well, my phone has a much better WiFi antenna than the doorbell they provide. So I take this to mean that his product is low quality, then. I asked "What happens if someone breaks in and my WiFi signal is low or the camera's antenna is just too small to get a good signal? How will I get video to share with police?" Oh, that's easy. The doorbell camera is for view-only. There is no video saved of any incident at all, which is worse than a $99 Ring camera. I had an apartment that was broken into in downtown Atlanta. I want a security system. I need this company's service, and have told them so. And yet everything is someone else's fault, or there's just lack of concern for the customer at every turn. The place is poorly managed. There's just nothing of value here. KMT wants to sell monthly subscription packages for a steady revenue stream. If you don't sign up for one of their security packages, even when you have a basic system that's paid for in full, it will not work with your phone after 3 years. So there's no way to record video, and after 3 years, with no way to even see video on your phone as it happens live, what is the video doorbell doing out there? There are too many other options out there to deal with bad service from a company that's trying to force you into a subscription model. I'm pulling out the whole "free" system and replacing it with off-the-shelf components. It's much cheaper and clearly much more reliable to go that way. EDIT: There's been a "response" to my review, but no direct contact to me. I think that shows the focus here is on reputation, not on actual service to the customer. I bought a Samsung SmartThings hub from Best Buy, and an Arlo video doorbell. For less than $200, I have everything working with my iPhone, including my thermostat, my porch light, and my door locks that came with the original system. No monthly fees. No extortion at the end of three years that requires me to pay up or lose the whole thing's functionality. In the end, KMT still blamed my builder. They still blamed me. They still insulted my neighbors. They still failed to install the system so that it worked. Now they add blame because the crappy components they sold were chosen by the builder. None of these issues are addressed in the "response." This is clearly a poorly run company with low customer focus. Seek someone else.

They needed to send out at least 2 guys minimum three would be even better. I was given a quote beforehand that included $199 install fee $49 for bracket which equaled $248.00 I think it was the owner he told me that included hiding all of the wires. That price was a lie because when the guy came out he told my husband it would be an additional $99 to hide the wires what s scam. We told the guy no thank you and he left. I told my husband we could find another company an actual honest one. We found one not long after and they are very professional and installing the tv right now as I'm typing lol and no they didn't charge extra to hide the cables. Stay away from this company. There are honest companies out there. And no it wasn't a company I found off craigslist but a company that has almost 5 stars with many good reviews. Only charged $249 for everything including bracket and hid cables in wall.

We had never used a security system before and knew little about how the systems or the service worked. Lew dropped by for a free consultation, surveyed the property, recommended a course of action, and scheduled an installation for the following week. Lew dealt patiently with us for we misplaced the key to the house on the installation day, and he happily fit us into his schedule the next day. Installation was quick, clean and informative: he explained components and features, offered different options, and uninstalled and disposed of random components of earlier systems spread throughout the house. And most importantly, at nine o'clock one night, when I called him after clumsily and accidentally fouling up the master code and a clutch of other settings too due to my inexperience with the system, he picked right up and walked me through the process of sorting out the whole mess, and taught me how to avoid making that mistake again. His generous customer service took a huge weight off my shoulders, and we couldn't have been more pleased. One other thing: Like T-Mobile, Atlanta Home Alarm offers their services without contracts. Everything is month to month--and their rates seem much cheaper than bigger companies'.

I got lucky with my online search and called Atlanta Home Alarm Systems to check out the system installed in the home we just bought. The existing system was stickered by one of the 3-letter acronym outfits and I knew from trying to deal with them when my I moved my parents to an assisted living center I wanted nothing to do with them. Atlanta Home Alarm Systems came over within 24 hours, converted the system to their monitoring service and I couldn't be more pleased with their service, reliability and value. AND they offer pay as you go, monthly payments, no contract! I still can't believe it. Since then their very capable techs have replaced sensors when they went kafitz!, moved all the sensors when we had our windows replaced, relocated the cellular service connection to the attic when the under stairs wiring closet couldn't keep a connection... All good. I couldn't be more pleased.

When the company changed ownership, my account was sold to ADT without my knowledge. I only found out when I started receiving bills from a different company. When I contacted ADT (my "new company") to ask what was going on, the explanations were vague. Eventually, I received an email saying Ackerman was still operating and encouraging me to switch back. Because I'd had several issues with ADT in the past, I decided to return to Ackerman. Terrible mistake. Basically Ackerman sold my account and then convinced me to buy it back. The representative that came to my home, Natalie, told me I needed a new control panel and other replacement equipment, to the tune of around $1,000. I was also advised not to cancel ADT until an Ackerman tech came out to activate my service, which meant I had to pay both companies for the same month. On top of that, Ackerman charged me two weeks before my service agreement was even scheduled to begin. It's been several months and Natalie (who was supposed to be my point person for Ackerman) will not reposed to me inquires. Based on my experience, if your account has already been transferred to ADT, I would recommend staying put. For me, it wasn't worth the extra cost or frustration.
