She started at the Trigger Fish level, advanced to Sea Lions, and just recently graduated to Manta Rays. The academy's structured approach--requiring specific skills to be mastered at each stage--has clearly paid off. She's athletic and attentive, and the instructors have done a fantastic job channeling those strengths into steady improvement. Each level seems to take her about 5-6 weeks to complete, which speaks volumes about both her effort and the academy's teaching methods. With only two levels left after Manta Rays, she's well on her way to being ready for our HOA's competitive summer swim team, which runs six intense weeks with six tournaments. The difference in her confidence and ability in the water is easy to see. Honestly, I may not be able to swim away from her when she chases me in the pool next summer! This place is an amazing place to bring your kids for swim lessons, camp or just to have fun swimming! I brought my Adventure Summer Campers here and they were not ready to leave. With the hot days this summer, it was the best activity for them to stay cool while having fun and exercising. The staff were great and had good customer service. This is a wonderful place if you want your kids to learn how to swim. If you are new they will do an initial assessment of skill and place you in the appropriate class. We had our youngest in the baby class first where the parent gets in the water with the child which was a wonderful experience. The instructors all work with children well and they throw in fun things in their classes like toys and bubbles! It's easy to check in at the front desk once you have an account. They also sell various swim gear like goggles and flippers and baby swim diapers that are reusable. Scheduling times for classes is flexible depending on what works for you. When you achieve all the skills in a class you graduate and go to the next highest class as your child progresses. Would highly recommend to learn a valuable skill to swim! read more

Parking situation is a nightmare. And there's been zero investment in this facility except for a few iPads to check students in. They have so many accidents in their parking lots they have a process a place that prevents their cooperation in claims. This is all due to overbooking and overcrowding the facility. the lessons for both my children (12&2) are pretty good. the instructors are well trained and work well with the children, however I purchased some fins from the in house store ($38) they were needed for the swim level he's on so my son forgot them after changing and i called right up and asked them to hold them, the girl did that and added his name with a sticky note. Well i just called to make sure they were still available for pick up and the guy Brian, explained that they only "hold" claimed items for 2 weeks then they donate them. I'm curious why that wasn't addressed when i call initially. we have paused our summer swim to travel, sucks to come back and find out your personal items were donated. we will not be returning. read more

We have not entirely been enjoying our experience at ASA. We've been there 3 months and my kids' coaches have already changed 3 times! I was not expecting so much turnover - and a staff member even admitted to me that having a new coach so often hinders the students' progress. My kids have already mastered many of the required skills, but have not progressed to the next level yet, partly because the coaches have to balance their time amongst students of varying levels of abilities, so the more challenging skills haven't been introduced. All of the coaches have seemed kind and good with kids; the main frustration has been the turnover of staff and how hard it seems to actually pass a level! I have also been disappointed with the lack of communication with parents. We are rarely updated on the kids' progress or given any indication how they are doing. Granted how much money I'm spending for these lessons, I had higher expectations! read more

Excellent center for lessons! The instructors are amazing! Great combination of reassurance and pushing hard work. The kids' confidence levels grow at each class! My only negative critique is that in the younger classes, ASA allows parents to force distressed children into the pool (at the parent's request). As a former pediatrics medical provider, I see more harm than good from this method, but it's all from the parents. Otherwise, I'm very happy with ASA. Want to take a moment to express how pleased I am with Swim Academy's honesty and openness during these times. We have been customers since 2008 and have always been pleased with the coaches and the customer service. Over the summer they took a hit with coaches leaving for other opportunities. My son was not happy with his new coach and I was very frustrated that he just didn't want to participate. I was ready to pull my sons out of their classes. I voiced my concern and Swim Academy listened. They found us a new coach for a day and time that worked for our family. A few weeks after I had my issue. The company reached out to their families and let us know the situation they were in and their plan to recover. Today, I saw my son excelling with his new coach (Luke). My son responds well to this coach and I couldn't be happier. This is my second review. I had to say how excited I was to see what Parth was able to do with my 7 year old daughter in such a short time! So sad to see him leave for college but looking forward to having him again next summer. He was great with technical skills and gave my daughter great confidence in just a few classes! My family became customers thanks to a friendly recommendation years ago, and we love it! Our first son had a few not-so-good experiences over at the YMCA and had become absolutely terrified of the water. He had nightmares, was a handful when we went to the pool that summer, and dissolved into hysterics just getting water on his face during bath time. It really seemed like there was nothing my husband or I could do to fix the damage even after we quit lessons, and we had tried everything we could think of short of psychiatry. When summer ended the whole family was glad to see it go, and frankly I was ready to give up on him swimming altogether considering what an absolute nightmare he'd been. In passing a friend of ours recommended coach Meg at Atlanta Swim Academy to us. With our previous experience, we were obviously very skeptical, but decided that things really couldn't get much worse. The first lesson he attended he took one look at the pool, started screaming bloody murder, and turned five different shades of tantrum trying to get away. To this day I'm not sure how, but coach got him to calm down enough to sit on the edge while she talked the both of us through the next steps. Now, I'll admit that I didn't like being told that I was going to have to leave the room if my son kept crying and yelling, but seeing how it got his attention (and with 3/3 kids now swimming), I understand why it had to be done. He eventually got in, and by the end of class he was holding her hands and kicking. He even blew a bubble or two and cracked a smile. I couldn't believe it! Meg obviously knows what she's doing, and believe me when I say she has the patience of a saint. It takes a special lady to stay so bubbly and upbeat when dealing with children, especially the scared, stubborn, screaming kind! Next lesson, he got in the car without a fight and walked right over to Coach when we arrived. There were still some tears, but he was making an effort and finally making progress. The nightmares stopped, and I couldn't believe it when he started asking if it was swim-time yet! That was close to four years ago at least, and this year he'll likely be participating in our neighborhood swim team again. Swim lessons for our next children were easy to plan and a much smoother process considering, and now thanks to Atlanta Swim Academy, we have three independent swimmers in the family! If I had to complain about anything, it would be that coach quality can be hit or miss. While their best instructors are definitely worth the headache of finding, there's really nothing to indicate what you're getting until you attend a class and see for yourself, and you pay the same whether it's the instructor's first ever class or their millionth. Call it personality or teaching style or just being spoiled, but a few classes just weren't worth what we paid given what we were used to. While most just didn't seem as enthusiastic or knowledgeable, we encountered one or two who seemed to be in a bad mood the whole lesson or who seemed to be utterly clueless. Normally I'd name names in order to warn people, but I honestly can't remember now. Still, I wouldn't go anywhere else,even with those experiences under my belt. Just ask around before you 'settle' on anyone you don't know. The facility is great as a whole, and although there might be a few teachers who aren't complete gems, the general quality of their teachers is just incredible. Where older children and boys in particular are concerned, Coach Mandi definitely has a gift for cutting to the chase and bringing out their best without being gruff or mean. Similarly Coach Preston blew us away with his kind demeanor and patience, and definitely surprised my husband when he got our (very stubborn) daughter to not only do the slide, but to think it was her idea in the first place! We only had the pleasure of having Coach Brandon a few times, but the young man obviously knows what he's talking about strokes, and his enthusiasm was catching. Faces have changed since we began, but I've generally found their front desk to be professional and quite helpful, even if they may not always have the answer you want. To that end be warned that they are very serious about make-up policies here and can be tight-fisted with replacement lessons. If you miss a week for a cold, you'll have to have a doctor's note if you want to make it up. Also, your card will be charged monthly automatically unless you cancel well ahead of time. Although we're taken a break from lessons now that all the kids can swim, we'll likely end up back there this summer. Our two youngest had a grand old time participating in the camp program last year, and I have a feeling we'll be getting requests for a repeat performance. Long story short? Take the length of this review as a testimony--there's no place like Atlanta Swim Academy for all things swimming! read more

My almost 2 year old has been a student here for close to 10 months. She started out in the shrimps and moved up to guppies pretty quickly. At about 16 or 17 months old, Coach Sean had her swimming on her own and she loves it!! Coach Sean is an amazing instructor! He's gentle, engaging and always has my child's safety in mind. Awesome year round swim team! I have had experience with some of the other large year round programs. Atlanta swim academy is by far a better program! Much cleaner and up to date facilities. Training days and times are flexible, most programs lock you in to a certain time. The coaching staff is very gifted and able to break down strokes and provide real personal instruction and correction. I have and will continue to recommend their program. Atlanta Swim Academy has been a fantastic experience for our family. Our son is four, and he loves going to his swim classes every week. Everyone on their staff is SO NICE! He started in the Barnacles class and has now moved up to the Seahorses class. All of his swim coaches have been great addressing his individual needs, and really have been great with all the kids in each of his classes. They made our experience so much fun. Even on days when our regular coach happens to be out and we have a substitute, or if we have scheduled a make-up class, we have still had an outstanding experience. Every coach/instructor has just been so wonderful. We were/are attending multiple classes per week and each instructor has a unique style while still following the same "curriculum". I have loved each of their personalities (and so has my son). In addition, when my son wanted to start using goggles, the staff in their store were SO HELPFUL! They were so patient and explained how to find the right goggles that fit him properly (I never knew correct fit on goggles was even a thing to consider!). We needed to try on many different goggles before we found the right one that fit perfectly, but she was so helpful and made sure we were taken care of. I give them 2 stars because they change a lot since we started! One of the reason is that my daughter has a lesson on Monday after school. She came from school and said that she is not feeling well, so I called them and asked them to change her lesson fir another day. They told me they will not and they will still charge me for her lesson because need to be two hours in advance. How could be when she come back from school at 3pm and told me not feel well and her lesson is at 3:45? So no excuses if your child is getting sick and still charge you this is not fair! This is the reason why I give 2 stars!!! read more

My son just started in the Barnacles and my daughter in the Fearless Flounders. My son had a great time. He was doing things with his instructor that he would never do with us. I loved that they went over safety too. My daughter had a different experience. She was terrified the whole class, but continued to do everything that was asked of her. The instructor was very encouraging and patient with her. I thought for sure my daughter would say she wasn't coming back. After the class, we asked the instructor if she needed to go down a level, and she told her that she did great and is in the right class. It was just what my daughter needed, and she is ready for her next lesson. read more
