Atlanta Wings is the quintessential wing spot in the heart of West End. The service is quick and the food is great. That's literally it.

My flight was delayed in Atlanta, and it was past midnight, so I took a uber to this place,…read moreaccording to ChatGPT's recommendation. The chicken wings were just okay, but the main reason I came was because the place was open so late, making it convenient to try Atlanta's specialties. It was a limited-time experience! Sweet & Sassy Wingz: Their signature flavor. The chicken was over-fried, and the meat was a bit dry. Most importantly, it was coated in a thick layer of sauce, so sweet it was almost too sweet to eat... L. Pepper Wet Wingz: As an Atlanta specialty, this chicken wing was relatively interesting. The initial taste was an intense lemon sourness, almost making you shiver, followed by the warm spicy aroma of black pepper. If the sourness could be toned down, it would be quite good. The chicken wings were still overcooked, and because there was no sauce, the meat was even drier. But I don't know if this is a problem or part of their specialty? Season Friez: Although it was hot, it was already soggy and soft. I consoled myself, "Just grab something quick..." Side Salad: A meatless version of Caesar salad. The bread was so hard I couldn't even stick it in with a fork, but thankfully the lettuce was fairly fresh. Google Maps shows they're open until 3 AM, but they actually don't offer dine-in service after midnight, and the area outside is practically homeless's paradise. Please be careful!

Seat yourself (a bad omen for table service). Bathrooms are pretty mucky but it's a bar... I've actually been pretty surprised by how decent the food is. The burgers are hugeee and quite tasty -- they might seem a little pricy but you truly are getting the full value. Love the fries they use (crinkle fries are gross!!!!). They also offer sweet potato fries although they're rarely fried right. But the wings haven't disappointed me yet. The salad I've had was big and solidly priced, and I usually do not feel that way about salads at bars. It's a plus when you can get a bar salad without the wilt! Dining in leaves much to be desired if you're not at the bar though, and it's HARD to get bar seats. Doesn't matter what time I've walked in, the bar has been packed... which is probably a good indicator that the bartender is awesome. But the table service is a different story. Most servers I've come into contact with have gotten the job done but are completely miserable and monotone while doing it. Be prepared to have to coach your server on pretty much everything you might need. Hell, I've ordered takeout and have still had to chase someone down to get it. Not attentive, but they eventually get the job done LOL. I will say that one time they brought me the wrong sandwich but let me keep it on top of bringing me what I ordered. That's kinda just customer service 101 but I can appreciate the gesture in the sea of unenthusiastic service. I've also participated in the spin-the-wheel after you spend so much... it's a nice touch. I can't speak to drinks yet as I've only had shots via the "spin". I like it but have settled on doing mostly takeout.

It wasn't busy at all on a Wednesday night. Signs indicate that you should seat yourself wherever available and to head to the counter to make your order. I ordered takeout, so I can't speak about the dine-in experience here. FOOD: We ordered a double order of the wings and asked for their two most popular flavors, which were the lemony pepper wet wings and some other flavor (couldn't hear the worker clearly, but just went with it). The order came with fries and a choice between ranch or blue cheese dipping sauce. Maybe I am not used to the flavor profile here, but I found the wings to be excessively salty (and I have a preference for salty food). My tongue is still tingling as I write this review. Also, the lemony pepper wings tasted like they were coated in pure citric acid. The other flavor was drowning in sauce. The wings themselves were so dry that it felt like I was eating chicken jerky. SERVICE: Food came out within ten minutes of us ordering. No frills place, so expect no frills service. No complaints. They have a bag-it-yourself policy. TLDR// This might be the first place to actually convince me that overseasoning is actually a thing. Excessively salty, dry chicken wings that my tongue is still paying the price for. Would not come back, and I would try a different spot for lemony pepper wet wings.

The only reason I can't give them the full 5 stars is because they were out of bacon when I went. I ended up getting the egg, ham, and cheese croissant with potatoes, and it was SO good. The croissant had a slight sweetness to it that tasted like there may have been a little syrup added, and I loved it. The sweet and savory combination with the ham, egg, and cheese worked really well. The potatoes were good too, and between those and the croissant, the meal was surprisingly filling. I ate breakfast and stayed full for basically the rest of the day, which almost never happens for me. I would absolutely come back, especially if I can get my hands on the bacon next time!
