YUMMY!! I had been hearing all about the hype on this place and we finally decided to get some food to go from here. I ordered online and I showed up around the time it said it would be ready but still needed about 10 minutes before it was ready. We ordered a bunch of different things. The original boneless no sauce was great, and we tried the garlic sauce boneless (we couldn't find the soy garlic online which we had heard was all the rave!) but regardless the garlic was AWESOME. Then we also tried the spicy bone in which was good but not very spice. I think next time I would do the bone in with soy garlic and make sure to get it all crispy!! For the side, we got some fries which were just alright nothing crazy and the chicken fried rice. The chicken fried rice was good but don't think it worth getting again. Overall a delicious meal and the staff was super nice. Parking is a tiny lot so definitely be aware of that. read more

Pelicana is something I've always wanted to try, and I'm excited ATL has a halal location! Right next to Masjid Al-Farooq, there is a small parking lot in the front and additional parking in the back. I appreciate the menu being explicit on what's halal and what's not. We had the chicken sandwich, the garlic wings, the half chicken with sweet/spicy level 2 and the Cajun fries. We also got sodas on the house for a review. The food was decent. The chicken was juicy and hot when it came out. The breading on the chicken was crispy but a little thick, and could have used more seasoning. I wasn't a fan of the garlic sauce (just straight garlic) or the sweet/spicy (cinnamon fwd??). The radishes though were awesome, great to cut through the fattiness of the meal. The service was great! Our server Feby was excellent, super friendly and helpful, and checked in with us for what we needed. As a suggestion - the restaurant should be split into two sections (drinking and not drinking) to help with the ambience. The honey soy was good too, just a bit sweeter than I usually go for, but if you love sweet wings, that one might be a hit for you. Overall, I'd definitely come back. The servers were attentive at times and friendly but they have this QR code system where you can call for your server through your phone but there was no point in using that because their system was slow/delayed so they didn't get the requests in time. Better to uber here because parking is very limited in the back and small spaced. We got the spicy rice cakes and they were perfect portion and spice for $16. We also got some drinks. Great spot! Very cool concept and environment. Menu has a ton of great options but I opted for the soy garlic wings. Super crispy with a great flavor. They were a litttle on the smaller side so they gave me 12 instead of 10 which shows they want you to be satisfied with your experience. A friend had the chicken sandwich which looked great. They even branded their logo on the bun which is another special touch. Wings came with pickled daikon, corn-coleslaw, and salad. (All in a small sauce cup but still very nice) Service was great until the very end it took about 15 mins to get a box and the check. Only reason for 4 stars but would recommend this place. We came here on a sunday late at night around 12:30am and wow it was very busy still. We had to wait a bit for a table of 5. The server put three tables together and said we can sit there, but then another server took a table away and put the 5th chair at the end of our 2nd table. I told them it would be too crammed for us 5 with two big guys with us and asked to have our table back and he said okay and did it. Then a 3rd worker came over and said no and took it away again. Said the need the tables to other guests that are coming. I felt like they were not communicating to each other and we felt a bit crammed. Also A LOT of the flavors were sold out. We were trying to order and they kept saying "choose another one, that one is sold out" that happened 4 times. So we could not even eat the flavors we wanted. We were choosing back ups of our back ups basically. So that was kind of a bummer. I understand we came late at 12:00am. but you are open till 3am. The two flavors we ended up getting were sweet and spicy and bbq. The sweet and spicy was better. They were good though and I like how the chicken was meaty so it was filling for sure. When we stopped into Pelicana Chicken in Midtown, we found far more than we expected. The space itself felt welcoming, soft lighting, Korean videos looping on the screens, music at just the right volume, and a calm that made it easy to stay and enjoy. The menu was larger than we anticipated, but Rita, our server, guided us through with warmth and confidence. We started with the Ham Kimchi Fried Rice (layers of flavor from the tang of kimchi, the smoky bite of ham, and the richness of a sunnyside-up egg crowning it, with a crisp little house salad on the side). The Chicken Fried Rice we enjoyed as well (tossed with vegetables, bits of grilled chicken, and scrambled egg) simple but very satisfying. For dessert - and yes, we went there after deliberation, the Cheese Ball Mochi (hot, golden shell giving way to molten cheese that stretched with every pull) was decadent. The parking situation is not good here. There's minimal parking in front of the restaurant and sketchy parking in the back and side streets. This comment isn't meant to detour you, rather it's an opportunity to get you to plan ahead because the chicken is worth it! Inside, they keep a dark intimate theme with Korean fung shei. TVs at the bar. The takeout area is situated across from the bar. Bathrooms are nice and clean. The space is solid and the service is attentive and fast. Our food took no longer than 10 minutes from the time we ordered. As for the chicken. I'm trying to tell ya! Now for those that never had Korean fried chicken, let me forewarn you that the pieces aren't cut in a traditional manner. Hell, you may not be able to recognize anything but the leg and wing. Pelicana Chicken is located off 14th street, so if you drive too fast you'll past it honestly, I did. There is very limited parking (one way) about 3 spots available, which is a huge con for me. I believe there is paid parking a few establishments down. In regard to the food I had the fries, fried rice, and fried shrimp. Loved all of what I had, the only thing is I don't think you get your money worth with fried rice, half is a salad (it's lack luster). I would appreciate it if some effort was placed in the salad or you were given the option to just get a full entree of fried rice. The waitress was kind and they serve bottle/can drinks. The chicken is Halal, I believe that's the only thing that is Hala, so if you're someone who doesn't eat Hala food i would keep that in mind. read more

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my experience at your restaurant on September 3rd. I have been a customer of this restaurant for over three years. I am an Uber and Lyft driver in the Atlanta area and have been driving throughout the city for more than nine years. Because of the hours you are open, particularly late at night, I have frequently patronized your restaurant and have recommended it to many of my passengers and other people I know. Unfortunately, my last two visits have been extremely disappointing because the chicken appeared to be old and had clearly been sitting for an extended period of time. On September 3rd, I placed an Uber order and waited an additional 15 minutes for my food. When I received my order, I politely asked if I could have fresh chicken because of my previous experience with the food being old. The gentleman who is normally at the location packaging the orders is usually very friendly, pleasant, and welcoming. However, my interaction with him last night was completely different. When I explained that the chicken appeared old and asked for fresh chicken, he was very dismissive and rude. He waved his hand at me as though I was being a nuisance rather than a paying customer. He told me that the chicken was fresh, but based on the appearance, taste, and texture, it was very clear to me that it had been sitting for quite some time. I regret not taking a picture of the chicken because I would have liked to provide photographic evidence of what I received. This was not an inexpensive meal. A ten-piece order of chicken costs more than $20, which is a significant amount of money, especially in today's economy. What makes this experience even more disappointing is that I work extremely hard driving people around Atlanta all day. On this particular day, this was the only meal I had, and I simply wanted to spend my hard-earned money on a decent meal. Instead, I received food that I considered old and unsatisfactory, along with poor customer service when I attempted to address the issue. I have supported this restaurant for more than three years. I have personally recommended it to others because I believed it was a reliable place to get good food late at night. Unfortunately, after this experience and my previous experience with the quality of the chicken, I no longer feel comfortable making that recommendation. I am extremely disappointed because this was a restaurant I genuinely supported and spoke highly of. However, customers deserve to receive fresh, quality food and to be treated with basic courtesy and respect when they express a legitimate concern about their order. At this point, I have decided that I will no longer patronize this establishment or recommend it to others. I hope management takes this complaint seriously and looks into both the quality of the food being served and the way customers are treated when they raise concerns.
