Anytime me and the wife come to ATL we have to make a stop at Gus's. The staff is always friendly and the chicken is on point!

The ambience was cool! Everything looked nostalgic service was fast! Food was great! First time trying collard greens and they were my favorite! Only thing I would say is that a lot of fruit flies were around and the bathroom was under well kept.

For a place that boldly claims to have world-famous fried chicken in its name, I really expected to have a better experience. The chicken was alright, but I wouldn't say it was the best I ever had, let alone consider it the world's best. This joint is located in the lower hub, but I believe there's also an outside street entrance. Upon entering, we were told to sit anywhere. The interior is rather dim, and it wasn't super clean as there were still some crumbs on our table from the last people who dined there. There is also a very casual feel to the place, exemplified by the fact that food is served on styrofoam plates and paper trays. FOOD: 2-Piece Dark (Thigh & Leg) (4/5) - Chicken was nice and crispy, but nothing crazy special to me. I was expecting it to be spicier. Liked it more with the Louisiana hot sauce on the table. The chicken rests on a slab of white bread and is served with average slaw and sweet baked beans. Fried Okra (3.5/5) - First time having fried okra. Not bad, and I guess frying it eliminates the slimy texture associated with okra. SERVICE: I am not usually one to complain about service. The person who served us was sweet when we did interact, but it was so hard to get their attention to order and get the bill. But beyond that, the kitchen was noticeably SLOW. My brother and I literally only ordered one plate/portion to share since we wanted to try more places, but it took over half an hour to receive our food. They do emphasize that food is cooked to order, but I still found the wait to be baffling. TLDR// Come here or don't, but if you do, make sure you are not on a time crunch. Maybe I am just being harsh because I was expecting more from a place claiming to have the world's best.

What a great experience sitting at the bar for dinner. I was quickly greeted and got my drink order taken care of. I ordered a two piece white with slaw and greens. Awesome flavor! The staff let me sample the potato salad which was amazing. Was told the story about the lady that makes the pies and had a slice of pecan. Very good. I recommend you give them a try, because I will be back on my next visit to downtown. Enjoy!

I had the dark meat snack with French fries, while everyone else in my group got the chicken sandwich. We all really enjoyed our meals, and the mac and cheese was definitely the start of the show for those who ordered it as a side. The pecan and chocolate chess pie slices were also absolutely delicious!

For a name that touts world fame, I was hoping for better. I came in on an early evening so it wasn't busy by any means. I thought it was kind of dim in some parts of the restaurant and we were sat in a corner booth that had this issue. Our service still took a good while though. The menu is pretty straightforward since you mainly order chicken here. They warn that everything is fried in peanut oil and the chicken is spicy. I got a two piece dark meat plate, which comes with a heap of coleslaw and typically beans but I upgraded to fries. I thought the chicken pieces were kind of small and they were not that spicy. A little heat but nothing really worth mentioning. The fries were good and seasoned. The coleslaw was really sweet which is unexpected and I didn't care for it. What brings this review up is the chocolate chess pie. Maybe this is a standard pie recipe but it was definitely my favorite part of the meal. It's like if a par baked brownie was a pie and absolutely worth it. I leave an extra star on this review for that reason.

I've eaten at other Gus's locations and this was easily one of the most disappointing experiences. First off service was way off. Arrived and sat at a table by the window. After 10 mins with no one dropping by we walked up and asked if we could order at the counter instead. They apologized and said there were only two servers. That's fine but at least say that up front instead of letting people sit wondering what's taking so long. They only brought one set of plastic ware to the table and said they would be right back with the other. That took another 7 mins before they showed up. The food was equally as disappointing. The Catfish special had absolutely no flavor. Just bland to the core. The chicken was okay. Crunchy on the outside and juicy inside but it too lacked much flavor. Like they forgot to season the dishes. Love this chain of restaurants but this one definitely is a step down than what we're used to.

Eat this chicken!!! The best atmosphere, the kindest staff you'll ever meet and, you can tell all love and dedication thatgoes into not just the chicken, but all the sides and your personal experience

3 Piece Dark Plate with potato salad and collard greens, but as you can see that's 2 piece of bloody chicken with beans and collard greens
    Danny C.

I was excited to get the fired chicken because of the reviews, but the order went downhill when I open the take out. I ordered and paid for 3 pieces dark meat, upgraded to potato salad and collard greens. All I got was 2 pieces of chicken , beans and collard greens. They have open chicken so I saw the cook poked the chicken with thermometer at least 3 times and l even show the temperature to the coworker , and guess what I got? I got bloody chicken. If you already know the temperature didn't meet the health regulation, throw it away and fry another batch. You don't serve customer undercooked chicken, period. The small cooked part of chicken was juicy and flavored. But overall it's a disastrous experience . I even paid for tips for takeout and all I got is a mess.

Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken -- Atlanta, GA After a few days of hotel food, I wandered over to the mall's food court looking for something hot, fresh, and reasonably priced. Gus's delivered exactly what I needed. I ordered the 2‑piece white chicken dinner with baked beans and mac n' cheese, served with a slice of white bread. The food takes a bit longer because it's cooked to order, but the wait is worth it -- everything came out piping hot. The chicken was clearly marinated in a spicy blend, with crisp skin and flavor all the way to the bone. The baked beans were sweet without being mushy, and the mac n' cheese was creamy, cheesy, and genuinely satisfying. The vibe was classic after‑work energy -- people grabbing a beer, chatting, and eagerly waiting for their food. Much better than the mediocre hotel fare I'd been settling for. Solid 8/10. Hot, flavorful, affordable, and absolutely worth a revisit.

We visited Gus's on a Wednesday night, and even though it was close to closing, there were still a few people in the restaurant. The service was amazing -- our server went above and beyond for us. I got the fried catfish and my friend had the fried chicken, and both were exceptional. I really enjoyed the spice in the seasoning, and I loved that the batter was light, not heavy. The collard greens and fried green tomatoes were also fantastic. Overall, a wonderful dining experience -- I'll definitely be back!

This was my first time trying Gus's, and I was very happy with the service received. Lots of seating inside, and relatively short time to get our hot food. I got the 2 piece white chicken, which had a delicious spice rub and a nice crunchy exterior, with a nice juicy interior. The sides were decent; the baked beans were smokey and sweet, the slaw was nice and tangy. I wasn't a big fan of the mac though, tasted just like a generic store brand. Definitely worth at least a visit or try.

It's a take-out spot near Georgia Tech that is open late and has free parking. You'll park and come in and then place your order on one of the kiosks that they have there. Then you'll wait around and get the food. There's not a whole lot of interaction with the people except grabbing your food from them, so I don't really have an opinion on service. When I got my food, they were nice, but it was only like four words, lol. We came in around 2:00 or 1:00, and this was one of the only things that would have been really open, except for a Waffle House situation. I wanted something, and it was definitely a good change. Waited for about 15 or so minutes for food, and then we were out of there. Now, the food itself was really, really good, and I would definitely have to go back here and spend a buck on this just to go ahead and try more of what they have to offer. Soy chicken - now I feel like them angels back there were whipping up that chicken because this chicken was heavenly. You know how you get chicken that'll be sauced and it'll start to get soggy because of the sauce? This wasn't that! The chicken still had a really good crisp to it, even though it was doused in sauce, and the sauce tasted super good. This soy ginger situation was a problem, and they give you a hell of a lot of it too, so it's not like you get three or four chicken strips or whatever, no, you get the whole bird lol. Well, that's what it felt like! Delicious ! Seasoned fries - the fries were super seasoned and very crispy, and they actually never made it out of the car, lol. I tried a couple of them when I was driving, and that was it! They give you a nice amount of fries as well, so they don't shortchange you, and they were delicious and didn't need any ketchup. When I come back here? Absolutely! This was great. It reminds you of the era of a mom and pop kind of Asian shop where it's not a lot of flashy fanfare, but you get really good food. That's all you really care about: really good food. The fact that the place is open really, really late makes it even better because if you're coming off the club or whatever you're doing, they're gonna be open. I would absolutely go back!

I ordered the tray with a Cheeseburger with onions and mayo, Cajun fries, white cheddar bites, chicken nuggets and a drink.
