This airport is United Airlines' main hub. Not only that, the options for domestic and international flights are endless. I'd say that George Bush Intercontinental Airport has to be one of the busiest airports around due to the huge crowd of travelers going in and out. The airport was quite gigantic in general and took a bit of time to navigate between gates. There were a total of five passenger terminals (A, B, C, D, E). All of these terminals are connected and can be accessed with either the Skyway train or the Subway train. What stood out to me was the gorgeous, modern presentation of the atmosphere. I loved the installations of the decorative architectural ceiling as well as the colorful LED lights. The nice variety of dining was in abundance. Restaurants included options such as Agave Taqueria, Auntie Anne's, Bam Bam, Chick-Fil-A, Blaze Pizza, El Tiempo, Landry's Seafood, Panda Express, Peet's Coffee, Starbucks, Subway and so much more (the list goes on). In terms of relaxation, massage chairs, children's playing area, lounges, ablution and prayer room, sensory rooms, and Chapel were also available for travelers' use when convenient. As far as shopping, there were clothing stores, markets, designer stores, cosmetics, duty-free stores, etc. Overall, the George Bush Intercontinental Airport - IAH was a wonderful, yet busy airport to fly into. I don't mind returning here for layovers. The concourses may be a lot to navigate through, however, the offerings available from food to relaxation were beyond great.

The airport is clean, has a pet restroom (never seen this before), multiple lounges, restaurants and stores. Two places stood out: Brookstone: For memorial day they had a "happy memorial day" flyer and giving free soda to active duty and veterans. I am personally not a fan of saying happy memorial day. Also, the day is not about celebrating current military. It's to remember those that have fallen. Anyways, thought it was unnecessary they were giving away soda and 40% off. We didn't participate. The blanket we purchased for the plane ride was super soft! Be relax: OMG! Those prices were insane. I didn't snap a photo bc the girl was hovering as I talked it through with my husband. I believe 15 minutes was $60. Smh! In relation to massages, if you are at IAH and near gate D5 (down a few gates from be relax,) , you can get a wonderful massage chair session. The chair was $5 for 15 minutes. It massaged your head, back, and legs. It was great after a 3 hour flight. I will use the airport again!

My only knock is due to construction the airport was a little confusing. For instance Zone 5 is actually two separate sections and you can't see each other. Minor nit. For me, this is a rarity, and a big deal. I am such a clean freak, I always clean, and disinfect the chairs, and tables I sit at when I'm at any airport. Thank you Houston for setting the bar high. I love seeing the kids kiosks, and play area. Having this for the kids (and parents) is such a smart idea. I'm sure the parents who have layovers, and delays appreciate it. I would have appreciated it when my kids were young. Thank you to all the staff we've encountered in different areas of the airport. They have all been pleasant, and helpful. Which is another rarity to find. Probably that southern charm. I want to personally thank Officer Vo at the Global Entry desk. His professional, warm, outgoing personality was unexpectedly welcoming, and much appreciated. Thanks Houston, you Rock!!

So much energy from the United team and I'm sure a lot of effort that went in preparing and hosting to the event. Definitely a big Texas welcome! You need to know where you're going in case you have a tight layover and need to run for your life to the gate where your connecting flight departs. But interior-wise and food-wise, the airport has a tremendous amount of options in a visually aesthetically pleasing environment. If you are flying out of Houston at George Bush or connecting with a flight that is taking you either west or east, you could do a lot worse than George Bush Airport. There are plenty of options to camp until your next flight. Just make sure you know where you're going so you don't fall into a trap and miss your flight. Fortunately, that hasn't happened to us, but it could if you're not careful. Word.

In the lower gate A numbers (A1-A15) they now have 2 new eating restaurants. In addition to the Breakfast Klub (southern breakfast/brunch food), they now have Simone Biles Taste of Gold (American, cocktails) & El Tiempo Cantina (Mexican, cocktails). I'm pretty sure they changed out a few of the fast food restaurants but I honestly didn't look at those. They had live music in the center near Breakfast Klub, in the area they call "Symphony in the Air". The live saxophonist & drummer sounded really great. Another change was the exit to baggage claim. It was surprisingly a much longer walk! From the lower A gates you now must walk all the way around toward the higher gates to get to the baggage claim exit. Its about a 5 min walk to get to the baggage exit/escalators. During this walk through the connector hallway of the lower & higher A gates, there is an Art display area called "Houston Airport Artist in Residence (AIR)". The display from local artist is wonderful to see. The enhancements for terminal A are good. Previously, it always felt like one of the more neglected terminals. I know IAH still has a lot of construction underway. I look forward to seeing additional airport improvements.

Fares are usually quite reasonable and the ability to change your flight based on price to get an adjustment is seamless. Although there has been alot of negative associated with SWA lately because of the elimination of 2 free checked bags and now utilizing assigned seating and the elimination of the a, b, and c boarding groups. As a swa visa cardholder depending on your status, you still retain at the very least 1 free checked bag. I found the new boarding groups less chaotic and crowded which was a relief for me. Annoying is the word I would use to describe people who all at once are trying to put their unchecked bags in the overhead bins. Not so much this flight out of Hou Hobby! Although this flight was sold out everything was very smooth with the boarding procedure. I also found the assigned seating straight forward and not a bunch people trying to find an open seat all at once. The in-flight coffee is wonderful and as I said for before the best in the sky! Thank you Southwest for this! I did the see that they also added cherry coke zero as an option as well as hornitos margaritas. So the most unique and wonderful thing I found was that there is a phone holder now in front of you now to watch your videos at your seat on the newer Max 8 planes! We loved this! Overall I luv SWA and will continue to fly with them! My only gripe was the large group surrounding our seats talking loud and using profanity at 445 in the morning as well as passing food around as if I was going to help them pass their food around?

Up until Houston, Southwest staff had been wonderful. My sister and I were able to stay with our mom through security and boarding assistance without any issues. Then we encountered one employee who completely changed the tone of the trip. She approached us and abruptly said, "Wheelchair?" with an attitude that immediately caught us off guard. When she realized we intended to remain with our mother, she informed us we would not be boarding together. My mother responded that she would wait with her children, and the employee snapped back, "They're getting on the plane! What's the problem?" The lack of compassion, patience, and professionalism was disappointing. Traveling can already be stressful when a loved one has medical needs. A little kindness would have gone a long way. Thankfully, one unpleasant employee doesn't represent everyone at Southwest, but hopefully we won't cross paths again.
