All of our experience at the Atlantic was grand! My wife and I were in Scotland for the holidays/ Hogmanay and were fortunate to have this restaurant open while we were visiting. Besides truly enjoying the beautiful cultured experience, this establishment was one of the small handful of restaurants that will stick with us. Worst representation of French cuisine ever. French Onion soup was from the Campbell clan in the highlands with horrible bread and very little cheese. Tasted like a microwave. Scallop appetizer was three tiny semi dry scallops with Cole slaw, Escargot- no shell and a bit chewy no flavor. The fries or chips seemed to be from the Scottish Restaurant....Mcdonalds! Wonderful! We happened to walk by the Atlantic and the menu sounded good so without reservation we came in. The ambience is cozy yet refined and the slow cooked beef was absolutely divine served over mashed potatoes. We also had the muscles in the crème brûlée all so good! Have eaten here a few times when visiting home from the US. Wonderful atmosphere, staff are terrific, food and drinks are on point. Beautifully decorated restaurant with delicious French food. I always have a hard time ordering because everything I've had has been delicious. Romantic location a few feet below ground level - with many tables and a bar. My wife and I enjoyed a celebration with top notch French wine, mussels, French onion soup, and Beef Bourguignon. My sister and I had such a wonderful time in the restaurant. We wanted a nice place to eat on the city and this fit the bill perfectly. Ordered the escargot which tasted beautiful, then my sister got the Boeuf Bourguignon and I the Morue. The mix of golden raisins, pomegranate seeds, and capers was a perfectly subtle mix of sweet and salty that paired well with the fish. Definitely would love to come back! read more

Our visit to USA restaurant in Monticello Indiana was from a recommendation of a previous experience. Overall the service was great and the facility was clean. The food came out quickly. Our group had a variety of meals ranging from dinners to breakfast and kids meals. The chicken tenders was good to great. I had a Mexican Skillet which tasted like canned chili with a egg. Their soup was good. The country fried steaks was alright we've had better at other places. read more

We booked a table here a few months before our visit to Glasgow after hearing great things about the restaurant. The service was absolutely superb and the meals were good. We ordered the mussels and scallops to start with, and although the mussels were excellent, the scallops blew us away. Absolutely delicious. We had tuna entree and they were quiet tasty. The wine list is fine, but small. One area we thought the restaurant really missed the mark was the creme brûlée desert. We love creme brûlée and we have had our fair share of great ones, but I'm just not sure what this version is supposed to be. It was more like a pudding than a creme and it was served in a bowl.... it's hard to get creme brûlée right if you're not even using the right dish. I would avoid that specific desert if you stop here. With that being said I do highly recommend Atlantic Brasserie. The food is tasty and the service is impeccable, we just thought that desert missed the mark. read more

The Atlantic Bar and Brasserie is too easy to miss. Walking along St Vincent Place you could be forgiven for walking right past it without noticing it. Its unassuming entrance is a set of stairs leading down from street level but it's well worth taking those stairs down. You'll be in for a treat if you do. The interior is really lovely. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, everything is very polished but comfortable, the lighting warm, the space elegant. I feel like they'd be able to acomodate groups of any size and that you'd get just as good a meal with a large party as you would on a couple's dinner date. The staff were wonderful throughout the evening, incidentally, really friendly, chatty and happy to share a quick joke or two with us. They made us feel welcome and were attentive without being pushy. I visited during the event they were running to promote the restaurant, their food and their cocktails. I met up with the other Yelpers there and we were soon chatting over cocktails. I chose the Atlantic Margarita which was a twist on a traditional margarita with a topping of strawberry and citrus foam. It looked like a balerina. It was quite strong and very tasty. The others also seemed to enjoy their drinks. Soon we were shown to our table and handed menus. Decisions here were not easy to make here - everything sounded delicious. Before we needed to choose anything, though, we were brought some escargot. Now, I really like snails so I was excited to try these. They were well cooked, the garlic butter was perfect but they could possibly have used a little more salt. That's my only complaint for the whole meal though, and, given that saltiness is very personal and there was salt on the table, I'm not going to hold it against them. In the end I opted for a starter of Les Noix De Saint Jacques; scallops which were served with black pudding, sauce vierge and bramley apple sauce. Again, I really like scallops (this menu was a dream for me) and these were fantastic. Tender and perfectly cooked. For my main I chose the Boeuf Bourguignon which was amazing. The beef was so tender that it was difficult to pick it up with the fork. The sauce was wonderfully rich and the mashed potatoes and vegetables it was served with were perfect accompaniments (if a little strangely displayed). I also tried some of Lisa E's rotisserie chicken and, while it's not something I'd ordinarily order in a restaurant, I'd definitely think about it for a future visit. Like the beef it was flavourful and super tender. Finally, just when I thought I could eat no more, we were reminded that dessert was an option. Well, it would be rude not to. Another of my favourite foods appeared on the menu: rhubarb. I ordered the rhubarb and apple crumble which was served with vanilla ice cream and creme anglais and it was the perfect end to the meal. Not sure how I managed to finish it all but I have no regrets. So, this is now a new firm favourite restaurant. I think I'll take someone here the next time I want to show off Glasgow and how good its food can be. read more

I also had the opportunity to be part of the Eat & Drink at Atlantic preview night. I hadn't heard much about the Atlantic before, but I was really curious and had relatively high expectations beforehand - expectations that were absolutely fulfilled this Tuesday evening. First we were greeted with kind words and cocktails. We had a nice little chat with my dear fellow Yelpers, and soon after we finished the first drinks at the bar, we were invited to take place at the tables. I really like the atmosphere and the interior, it is really elegant and stylish (and, as you can see from the quality of my pictures, romantically dim as well - I really can imagine that I will celebrate an anniversary or a family event in the Atlantic, especially if I know that my company will consist of gourmets - but more about this a few lines later). We were treated to a special blogger's menu this night: at first we got the escargot to share - snails prepared with garlic butter, parsley and wine. Lisa E and I chose the Charcuterie for starter, which consists of ham, saucisson, vegetables and sourdough bread and is excellent in its simplicity, on a normal day it would have been enough to feed my appetite. Then came the Burgundy beef casserole, which, as my fellow Yelpers also mentioned, is just perfect, having a strong and harmonic taste. Even the mashed potatoes matched very well as side. This was when one of my friends asked me where I was, and I sent him a picture of the casserole only - the photo almost convinced him to join us, but given the distance and that the event was invite only, I think I know what the weekend menu will be in his house... Closing the dinner, I chose Creme Brulee as dessert, and it tasted even better than it looked - I think I will need to come back for more and order this again. All in all, this was an impeccable dinner, and I really hope that I will experience the same when I return in a few weeks with my boyfriend for a date dinner. read more

After coming here during the Yelp! Cocktail masterclass evening (and having the mother-in-law tell me she loves here) I knew I had to come back. The day I decided was a day I had to write reports - therefore a large red wine and some pommel frites were initially ordered. The Malbec was nice, but I did think it was a little overpriced as I could get a bottle for that price in the supermarket. The afternoon was lovely and quiet with only a few others around but did get livelier as the night went on (I've been here for apx. 5 hours) The staff were very welcoming and friendly and were ever so helpful - I had a fly in my wine at one point and they changed it =) I ended up having some dinner off their £14.95 menu (served 12-6pm) The dinner was lovely - the two course meal is made up of stater and main rather than main and dessert (usually I am a dessert woman but I do love a soup or bruscetta starter) AND soup was on the menu. I opted for the soup du jour which was pea and mint and although not a mint fan, the soup was very lovely. The main was a vegetarian option - La Tartiflette - and it was amazing! Baby potatoes, garlic, onion and cheese! It was heaven in a little hot plate. I'm usually one to stay clear of vegetarian options but this sounded so lush and I'm so happy that I went for it. Altogether, it was a very satisfying meal and I would say worth having. After the reports were finished, I thought I'd treat myself to a few cocktails. The first was Saffron Monsoon, made up of French white wine, saffron gin and elderflower liqueur - I really enjoyed this cocktail due to its punchiness and its acidity with the lemon juice and orange zest. I then went for a Sauvelle Vanilla Espresso Martini and WOW did that impress. I forget that I have my coffee with milk, but it was definitely not needed for this drink. It was strong but it tasted delightful! I will be sure to return. read more

I have never thought to go to a French restaurant before, because I kind of had it in my head that the food will be bland. My experience of French cuisine is nil, so it was good to be rid of those preconceptions. It was an absolute scorcher of a day, but the restaurant was nice and cool. I met my fellow Yelpers and we were seated at a table for our evening meal. We all shared the Escargots which was rather finicky, even with the proper utensils. They were quite stubborn little morsels that lay lodged within their shells. Interesting texture and comparable to a dry mushroom. I'm not sure if I would order them again, but it wasn't bad! I had the scallop and black pudding starter. I am a big fan of this combo. I love scallops unless they are overcooked. This was cooked just as I like it. Then I had the Beef Bourguignon main. This was a casserole with the most tender pieces of meat. I could really taste the lovely red wine! Mmmm. I ended the dinner with a Creme Brûlée dessert that was flamed as it was brought over to the table! Very suave! It was lovely dessert that looked amazing lit. What a wonderful place. We were looking for a wee Valentine's meal that's price wasn't through the roof so we decided to go for a 5pm deal for here & we definitely made a good decision! We walked into a busy restaurant with a great atmosphere and gorgeous interiors. After having a browse of the menu which was filled with French treats I ordered the baked wild mushroom fricassee to start and my OH ordered the mussels. Both were lovely but to be honest I definitely had a bit of food envy when I sneaked a few mussels - they were so so tasty, I would definetly get them next time instead! For main we both went for the braised beef casserole in the hope it would taste like a Flemish stew we had in Belgium once, and Atlantic Brasserie's stew didn't disappoint! It was rich and was a lovely comfort dish when it was a bit chilly outside. I would definitely go here again & would highly recommend it, the reason for the lack of 5/5 is only down to the dessert menu, I love a good dessert but the options were just a wee bit too fussy for me. (I'm more of a sticky toffee pudding kind of girl!) read more

I honestly never thought I'd find myself day-dreaming over the exquisite taste and texture of L'escagot (snails) but here I am - in my post dinner glow - wishing I could have another plate. Atlantic Bar and Brasserie, located a short walk from George Square, is in a tier of its own when it comes to fine French dining. I had been invited to an evening of blogging and tasting, and after reading the menu online I was incredibly excited to experience their food. The restaurant was beautiful, with a modern stance on the classic fine dining décor, the feeling was that of relaxed eloquence. I had never tried snails before but they were a fantastically fun start to the meal. Cooked with garlic, parsley and a touch of white wine, they had a deliciously understated taste. Even my vegetarian boyfriend, who joined me on the evening, said they were delicious. To start I had the gently seared Scottish scallops, with apple sauce, black pudding, and sauce vierge. The scallops were phenomenal. Soft and full of taste, they left my mouth watering for more. The full-bodied taste of the black pudding, and sweet apply sauce complemented the scallops tremendously. It was an inspired Scottish twist on a French favourite. I chose the slow braised beef casserole with Burgundy red wine, smoked pancetta, sautéed pearl onions, and button mushrooms topped with courgette, swede and creamy mash as my main. That's quite a mouth full - in every aspect. This is a dish fit for a king. The beef was melt-in-the-mouth delicious. The sauce was thick, rich and bursting with flavour and life. I'm always apprehensive of restaurant mashed potato because I've rarely experienced places that can make them creamy enough, and not rubbery on the outside. But, the mash at Atlantic was light and creamy while still being thick enough to mix with the casserole gravy without turning into a watery mess. This main was a treat for my taste buds. In my opinion a dessert isn't a proper dessert if there's no chocolate. So, for my final dish I chose the baked dark chocolate cheesecake on an almond crisp base with caramelised orange slices. One word. Unreal. The thick chocolate top was dark and rich with the perfect amount of sweetness to create a godly dessert. Godly. My meal highlight was definitely the scallop starter. I wish the dish never had to end and the black pudding was a delight. Having been able to sample the fabulous cocktails at Atlantic, my personal favourite was a tie between two . I couldn't decide between the divine Atlantic Margarita - topped with strawberry whip- and the exquisite Strawberry and Rosemary Mojito. Both taste amazing and are a lot of fun. My special mention goes to the vegetarian starter, which I did not order but did try. It was a half chargrilled globe artichoke served with a warm pommery mustard vinaigrette. This was the starter my boyfriend chose and he assures me it's unlike anything he's ever tried. Fresh and tasty, this dish is a great choice. I'd like to extend a huge thank you and well done to the amazing staff at Atlantic Bar and Brasserie. The evening was fantastic and the waiting staff were on point. Fantastique! read more

Came here a few weeks ago on a belated birthday day out. One of the group had been before on a Saturday and reccomended it so we decided to pop in. On the outside, you could easily pass the Atlantic, as it is downstairs! It's entrance isn't quite as eye catching as the Anchor Line (which are both owned by the same people), but it's easier to spot at the weekends, as there is usually people sitting outside. Inside, the decor is pretty nice, you can tell this is a French restaurant! If you want a high end experience then I would definitely visit. We were here on a Tuesday at around 4pm, so it was pretty quiet inside (no surprise), but I've been told it does get very busy at the weekends. Despite the restaurant being pretty high-end, they do offer a few set menu options which we took. For 2 courses, it was £13.95, which was very good value considering the options on the menu (mussels were included at no extra charge). I went for the mushroom fricassee to start, which was delicious. Only downside to it was I found it quite dry with the cashew and herb crumb on top, the egg did help a bit to add moisture, but it needed either more egg or less crumb. For main I had the beef bourguignon which was absolutely delicious. Tons of flavour packed into the casserole, and the beef was very tender. Portion sizes were excellent for the price. Overall I found lunch at the Atlantic very good, and I wouldn't hesitate to come back. I would like to give the a la carte menu a go, which had some pretty amazing sounding dishes on it. read more

Definitely a place to do lunch and not just to eat lunch as we did! - we went mid-shop, slightly sodden, pretty scruffy and a little chastened. It has the posh feel of the Anchor Line upstairs, but it feels even more formal with both staff and the smartly-dressed clientele adding to that impression. It's an attractive place and very fitting as a suave, modern French brasserie. To start my partner had the mushrooms (Champignons Sauvages en Cassolette) and I had the scallops (Noix de Saint Jacques d'Ecosse), we both had the duck (Canard Barbarie Magretpoélé, Sauce à l'Orange) for our main and as is the French way we were asked how we wanted it cooked. We opted not to have it well done. My scallops came with black pudding, an apple sauce and a complex tomato and herb sauce - "vierge" sauce. I loved the two sauces, really good flavours that complimented the scallops perfectly. My only slight niggle would be that the scallops were cooked slightly longer than I would like. My partner enjoyed her mushrooms, but she did say that there was a bit too many cashews for her taste. The duck came promptly and again we were quite happy with what was on our plates. The sweet potato, red cabbage and orange sauce were a great combination and lovely with the duck. The duck wasn't entirely consistently rare, and there was the odd very slightly chewier bit, but these are very, very minor quibbles, it was very nice indeed. I would say that the overall Atlantic experience was damn good and just shy of a five. read more

I went with the 5pm offer £25 for rotisserie chicken 3 sides and sharing dessert. The 'whole' chicken arrived on a soup plate, two legs, breast, and wings from the smallest chicken I have ever seen (think quail). The three sides were fine. The sharing dessert which I understood we would have a choice of arrived, a poached pear and slice of Bailey's cheesecake. I don't take alcohol in puddings so not for me. I have had better rotisserie chicken from the supermarket. Not worth £25 much less 'full' price. read more
