In 1996, Bruce Ratner, the ubiquitous, rich asshole who built the grotesquely conceived Metrotech Center in downtown Brooklyn, decided that he wasn't quite finished eradicating the magisterial landscape of Atlantic Avenue (think Williamsburgh Savings Bank, Brooklyn Academy of Music, etc) With all the architectural perspicuity of a daffy beaver, Ratner proceeded to build a mall so devoid of character, it embodies all the charm and warmth of an animal kill shelter. Pathmark, one of AC's tenants, operates under the guise of saving Park Slope, Prospect Heights and Fort Greene residents money on their shopping...an enterprise made difficult by the exorbitant parking prices they charge for use of their garage. Other stores located in Atlantic Center are: Marshalls: A hotbed of XXL sizes, gaudy Italian slacks, and ties worn by people who have given up on life. Circuit City: Where shady salesman hone their 'bait and switch' techniques. If you come looking for something you saw in the Sunday news circular, I sincerely doubt they ever had it to begin with. He recently purchased the Atlantic Yards, located just across from his hideous space pod mall. He claims he procured this property in order to bring professional sports back to Brooklyn in the form of the New Jersey Nets. Useless civic figurehead, Borough President Marty Markowitz, rationalizes this blatant property grab (as shameful as any orchestrated by Robert Moses) by saying that it will heal the wounds inflicted on Brooklyn when the Dodgers were stolen from us by Los Angeles. How? By becoming hypocrites and stealing the Nets from Jersey? That's not what Brooklyn is about. And don't forget about all the tenants that are going to be displaced by this project with the abuse of eminent domain. Landlords and homeowners are being compensated handsomely by Ratner to "move on", but where will that leave the tenants? Literally and figuratively out in the cold. Know what else? Bruce doesn't give a Ratner's ass about professional sports coming back to Brooklyn. Hello, I was shopping at Victorias Secret - Atlantic Mall (at Atlantic Mall Shopping Center) on Saturday 01/11/14. I got to the store right after 10 am. When I walked in I told one of the ladies there I am looking for a bra for my wedding dress so I would like her to check my measurements as I need a perfect fit. I know my size but I wanted to double check. After she was done she told me I was 32A which I know I am not. I am 32D! When I took 4 different bras to the fitting room THE MOST NASTY PERSON worked there ever: she did not help me to take my stuff out, had nasty attitudes, slammed the door, did not even check what I was holding in my hand. Of course all the 32Bs they gave me were too small! I ringed that bell in my fitting room and no one came so I opened the door and she was right there and asked me with attitudes what I want. So i explained I need a big size and she refused to bring it, she told me I need to try something from the fitting room ( in general I would not mind but it was a different product) So I had to get dress and go get it myself. She told me first i need to take the stuff i dont want and put it back, I said i am not going to do it because i am not going to that section now, again I came back with more stuff and I received even more attitudes. Believe me it takes a lot for me to actually waste my time to complain but for a store like VS this is ridiculous. I was treated very unprofessional. I needed more help because I wanted a nice bridal set and also buy gifts for my bridesmaids which i didn't do. I grabbed one bra and paid for it without trying. VERY VERY unprofessional! Consistently understocked stores with lousy employees (Target, Pathmark, Victoria's Secret and the like)? CHECK Random girl yelling at her assumed "boyfriend" on her cell phone about her facebook "relationship status?" CHECK Crowds of 13-17 year old BABAY kids (ya that's right I said babay kids) gossiping about god-knows-what and that should probably be at home doing their homework? CHECK Shady "car service" drivers that harass you as exit Target? CHECK Shady "car service" drivers that yell "damn girl, you got ass" or "hey cutie, I'll give you a ride." as you cross the street to Pathmark? CHECK Coldstone Creamery? CHECK Long ass lines at Subway when all you wanna do is "eat fresh" NOW? CHECK You get the point. If this place did not house the Target that is less than 2 miles from my apartment, I would never, EVER EVER enter this place that should in fact be named Purgatory, not a mall. read more

A poor experience in the mall. Was very disappointed and continue to be disappointed every time I come here . It always seems like they need to change a light bulb in there. It has a dark and gloomy feel to it. Honestly I don't ever have the urge to spend money while there. The vibe and atmosphere just makes me want to clutch my purse closer and power walk to my destination. They opened a Uniqlo there, which is rad. It's like GAP in Japan I heard. I bought some clothing and it seems to hold up well. Pants are good material, but you gotta get them hemmed since it's like a 34 length on everything.No clue why. Other than that, I usually hit up Guitar Center and the folks there are extremely helpful with it comes to their products offered. Overall I'll probably go back just because there are so many of my fave discount stores in one place. It has the potential to bring such happiness! read more

This is the worst shopping center / mall I have ever been to. The Target was a mess. All of the hanger size tags did not match the actual merchandise sizes, making it difficult to find anything. The staff was very rude and there was not enough merchandise on the floor. The racks were bare and the shoe department was too. The Mall restrooms on the 3rd floor were abominable. Not only were they disgusting but none of the stalls locked including the ADA stall. I went to Applebee's for lunch and the waitress kept calling me mama and baby. I understand that those are cultural nicknames, but it is highly unprofessional and rude to call your customers those names. She also sat in my booth while taking my order. The only good thing about this entire shopping center is the Guitar Center. read more

I don't even want to give it one star between the poor people who are coked up and out of their minds to the black kids that go there from school and create fights, harass people this really makes you not want to be a part of anything to do with the mall. The atmosphere is very DARK, the energy people provide is dark, everyone is so angry and willing to fight anyone who looks at them. The stores are shit, the cops don't do anything other than say move along, I was followed in target because they thought I was stealing, when I was simply shopping, I will NEVER set foot in that place again. Has items on the shelf, but they won't sell it to you! I had a $5 off $15 coupon expiring the next day and I saw three Disney Mickey Mouse vinyl figures that I wanted to buy (which would come out to $20.97 + tax). I waited on their long line to pay, and when I got to the counter, the cashier saw it and said, "I can't sell these figures to you. They're not for sale today! Come back tomorrow and buy them." And so I came back the next day only to find out that 2 out of the 3 figures are no where to be found in the store! I ended up not using the coupon and won't come back to that store! They lost a customer! read more

The shop selection is decent. The restaurant selection is just ok. The bathroom situation, not good. Also, everything closes at like 9 pm so if you are waiting for a train that is later than that, you are out of luck... read more

I love that there is a Target here in BK since I love this store from back home. But I haven't really explored the entire mall yet.
