I came here after my previous eye doctor closed. My new glasses caused headaches and blurry vision in my right eye. Over three visits in three months, I repeatedly raised these concerns and was told it was dry eye and given drops. They refused to trial a new lens or reassess the prescription, despite my requests. I've worn glasses for longer than the dr has been practicing and I know when something isn't right. I left feeling dismissed and unheard. They are committing billing fraud, sending bills out over a year later, and refusing to admit their errors and retract the bill. They have lost a patient whose been going since 2014 over this, which their billing supervisor did not seem to care about at all. The surgical coordinator, Denise Garcia, has been extremely unresponsive. I have called multiple times and sent emails, yet have not received any reply. This is especially concerning as I am trying to schedule a surgery. Great experience. There should be a way to track and expedite glasses. I need them for vision therapy in NYC and it took over a week. Tracking should be monitored and an txt update to the patient include. Insurance is a problem. I have united healthcare vision and the person assisting me kept telling me I did not have vision. I needed clarification so I pursued my claim thru united healthcare. Would have prefered that that i not get involved in the paperwork and and just pay the differece. read more

Dr Hall is a nice and considerate doctor who is friendly, but anything after that was complete nightmare. Was referred to go there went to Little Silver on December 20, Dr Hall diagnosed cataracts in both eyes left being worse.They then scheduled me for next visit in Holmdel on December 31 with doctor Kristan who had family emergency and Rescheduled for January 6th. Scheduled left eye surgery for January 21, when I got there spoke to another patient who said his surgery last week was canceled week before as he arrived for family emergency. I had surgery on that date January 21, presurgery nurse and doctor were yelling at each other saying they were under staffed, I to say the least was uncomfortable, went in for surgery doctor Kristan seemed to have a problem getting old lens old and seemed frustrated and then shooting pain in eye. Went back next day for follow up was cleared. Returned January 27 with pain blurry vision and discharge was told I had blocked tear duct and put hot compress on it. They proceeded to ask me for my 300 dollar out of pocket payment for next surgery, which was scheduled for February 4th, which they called 2 days later to cancel a week before surgery for family emergency. Ended up in hospital February 10th with infection on left side of face horrible headaches and low vision spent 3 days in hospital, left side of my face was so messed up they thought I was having stroke. Not to mention Dr Kristan refused to fill out short term disability paperwork with proper dates. And to make matters worse a surprise bill that their Atlantic Eye Care Center Surgery center is out of network and a bill for 2600. This office made an appointment with me on an emergency basis on Friday, to meet Dr. Patel this Monday at 1:30. over the weekend, I got messages from them, saying that our appointment was with a different doctor, at a different location, Tuesday (today, Valentine's Day) at 9:30. None of this works for me. I had a serious, optical emergency, actually, I still do but this office is a mess , Dr. Patel was in fact out of the office, won't be back until March, no one will own or explain the epic mistake in making my appointment. After going to three different offices in New Jersey, I am getting my serious and terrifying eye condition treated in New York City because there is not a single eye doctor in this state that seems to give the tiniest iota of a crap about the welfare of their patients. So much malpractice, it is just staggering. My advice, is do not get eye problems in New Jersey because there is no one in the state who knows or cares how to treat you. I've seen other negative reviews and believe that this must come down to the doctor/team with which you work. Dr. Fegan was spectacular throughout the entire process of my cataract surgery on both eyes. He is both very smart and very patient and willing to talk through the options and process with you. I opted for light-adjustable lenses that worked perfectly to give me the vision outcome I had hoped for. I'm writing this after my final check-up so that I could give a review on the full process. Jamie (Dr. Fegan's assistant) and Melissa (surgical coordinator) went above and beyond my expectations throughout the process and all of the support staff was professional. I had cataract surgery and the lens that was implanted was a new lens with few reviews. I could not see near, mid, or far. Bevore surgery I questioned Dr Patel about this lens and told him on a patient forum quite a few said they did not have great clear vision . I had skepticism anout it and now its been 2 months and still see blurry and can't drive at night. The surgery center moved and I was scheduled Sept 1 and then they canceled to Sept 8. No one called me day before after i cancelled my classes and husband asked for day off. When I tried calling several times phone call cancelled. I had to take off from work, drive there to find out whats going on and I was told "No one called you"? We aren't scheduling surgeries now! I got a partial refund. After taking another eye test after three weeks, technician told me after 2800 I should be seeing better and to make sure Dr Patel doesn't brush you off. im a professional high profile portrait painter and for two months I am dealing with this. Atlantic Eye has made qiite a few errors! i do not recommend and will be going into NYC where they spend time listening to what the patients work and life is and not brush you off! Dr Tsai "sold" me on scleral contact lenses without an adequate briefing of the potential problems. There was a trial period after which I would get back $1200 out of $2000 if I returned them. The initial fitting was awkward and difficult with no proper designated area for inserting the lenses with a flat surface, only a dirty mirror on my lap. The claims that these lenses would treat my dry eye was a big factor in my decision to try them. After my first followup appointment the lenses clouded up and my eyes became very bloodshot. The lenses were very uncomfortable by the time I got home. Removing the lenses once I got home was difficult. I called for an earlier follow-up but was given an appt in 2 weeks. Front office staff is not well trained or particularly helpful. I have been wearing contact lenses for over 50 years. Dr Tsai is a young fast talking guy who when I returned the lenses due to all of the above became very defensive when I did not agree with him that it was all "worth a try". Losing $700. because of a failure to adequately explain the potential draw backs of these lenses and shabby front office service is not my idea of it being in anyway fair that I was screwed out of $700.00. I had my first cataract surgery in 2013 with Dr. Su at Atlantic Eye, but he was no longer there. Dr Su had ordered my previous 1999 Lasik surgery records to make the calculations for the cataract replacement lens. The Crystallens that he gave me was great and I had no problems seeing with it all of these years. My second cataract surgery was done by a new doctor named Jonathan Kristan in Oct 2021. He knew that I had previous Lasik surgery and that Dr Su at Atlantic Eye had performed my cataract surgery in 2013. I told him that my old chart should be there with the Lasik information. Dr Kristan did not review my old chart or order the surgical record for my Lasik surgery. He put in a lens that changed my vision to far-sighted (hyperopia). I can not see near with the new lens and I am constantly dizzy and off-balanced because of the difference in the 'good' eye and the new lens. At the follow-up visit, he said that it was difficult to choose the correct lens because of the previous Lasik surgery. I asked him if he had gotten the old chart with the Lasik information....he did not respond. I told him that I would order the Lasik record again so that I could get the correct lens. He told me that I should get glasses. I got glasses and contact lenses, but I still feel dizzy and off-balance even with them..... I do NOT recommend Atlantic Eye Physicians. Pay attention to the other negative reviews because this practice should be avoided to the point that it inspired me to write my first Yelp review. I have a diagnosed pre-condition that makes me Covid susceptible. I explained this staff and asked if I could wait in my car until the appointment and was told no. I then observed the staff walk around the office without masks, particularly the blonde female eyeglass vendor who was more interested in conducting details with a house closing over the phone than practicing safety practices for their patients. After inquiring about staff safety procedures, I waited 45 minutes past my appointment time and came in contact with a half-dozen additional patients who came in after me and were seen before me. I could no longer put myself in that level of risk and left without seeing the doctor. AVOID! read more

I went to Atlantic Eye for my 2 eyes. The place and people were horrible. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of this place. I had Dr.Bontempo and Dr.Patel. Dr.Bontempo talk to me about my diabetes and he weighs 300 pounds!! He wears hospital operating scrubs with his belly hanging out. Dr.Patel wanted me to wait 6 weeks just to see him. Long story short I went to Dr. Del Negro in Neptune and right now I have 20/20 on 2 new eyes. Dr. Del Negro is professional and gets the job done in an efficient manner. Atlantic is the WORST. Had cataract surgery here and so far so good. Parking was right in front...no hassle. Reception office was very tiny with above head TV. No coffee or water available for waiting caregivers which I thought was inconsiderate. Free WiFi provided though. Nursing care was great. I felt very cared for and comfortable. Dr. Goldberg is professional and very skilled. Although I waited a long time prior to my surgery, it was no fault of surgical center. Previous patient experienced some added unexpected difficulties during surgery which held me up. But I'm glad they took their time to see things through with that patient. I would expect the same for myself. I have another cataract surgery planned in 2 weeks for other eye. I chose to do monovision which means one eye for distance and one eye for reading. No glasses will be needed. Hoping this all works out. So far so good. All was very organized and communication was great between surgical coordinators, doctor and me. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Tsai. I have multiple issues with my eyes (myopia, astigmatism, glaucoma...). After years of trying multiple contact lens at different offices, I was unable to see at 20/20. Dr. Tsai wanted better results for me. He took multiple steps that resolved and tried a few options to resolve my issues. He is very knowledgeable, patient and spends time with his patients. I did not think it was possible to achieve these results. My options were limited due to the complexity of my issues. Every time I had a question or concern, Dr. Tsai was phoned me back ASAP and truly listened and addressed and resolved my problems. I wish I found him sooner. read more

Our experience with Dr. Goldberg and the Little Silver office has been horrendous. I would never trust your eyes with him. He botched my husbands LASIK surgery. The front office people continue to book appointments with us, only to cancel a week before when Dr. Goldberg decides to go on vacation. Unfortunately, we moved to TN after the surgery and have to fly home for the appointments. This makes them canceling the appointments even worse. When he finally got in for a check up, the other doctor in the office saw him and agreed that he was not seeing as well as he should be and told him to get Dr. Goldberg to re perform the surgery. We booked an appointment for the Friday after Thanksgiving. He asked three times, "are you sure he is going to come in that day?" The answer was always a certain, "yes." Before booking our tickets to come back to NJ for Thanksgiving, we called one more time to check and lo and behold - he's not in that day. When were we going to get a phone call to cancel the appointment? The woman running the front office are stupid, lazy and rigid. They told us they would call us back - and never did. Not only has he ruined his eyes; Dr. Goldberg has basically made it impossible for my husband to get his eyes fixed. We are meeting with a lawyer instead of him the Friday after Thanksgiving. read more

This review is specific to the LITTLE SILVER office. I had a good first experience at the Long Branch location (2 years ago) but the Little Silver office is closer to my house and parking is easier there, so I made my next annual appointment in LS. Bad idea. It started when I called to make the initial appointment when the girl who scheduled my appointment was unnecessarily rude and nasty. I should've known right there how this experience was going to go. I get to the appointment and the same rude girl checked me in (I recognized her nasty tone). Not only was she short and flip with me, but other patients ahead of me. It's now my turn and a technician calls me back to check my eyes and dilate them. She asks me what I am here for. I say, "To get contact lenses." She very rudely states that I need a totally separate appointment for that and that it will cost me $175 out-of-pocket. I tell her that I made the appointment specifically to get contact lenses - apparently, they screwed up. What? Where did that come from? All I want is to be examined and for them to order me contacts, how hard is that? And where did the $175 come in to all this? Of course I know I have to pay for them! She brought me in to see the doctor who was fine. He said they will call me in a month when the contacts come in. Today I get a voicemail from a woman in the office who says, "You are scheduled on March xx at 10 am for your lens fitting. Please call back to confirm." I call back to say that I am unavailable at that time and to see what other dates/times are available. Very condescendingly, she states that these appointment are very lengthy and they are very hard to get (implying that I may not get one) and they she will call me back with another date. I said can't you call me back with a few dates/times so I can make myself available? She huffed and puffed and said she would have to call me back. Who just makes an appointment for a complete stranger, expects them to be there, and gets mad when they ask for an alternate date/time? This office is ran very poorly and the office manager should be aware. I understand that the doctors in this practice are outstanding but a staff like this is bad for business. From now on, I will be going to the LONG BRANCH office even if it means driving 20 extra minutes and dealing with a parking garage. read more

Do not use these people. They are very untrustworthy. I had eyelid surgery that they said would be covered but was told Medicare requires payment up front then I would be reimbursed. To make a long story short they told me it was cosmetic surgery and not covered. I was 77 at the time and would not need cosmetic surgery. I feel like I was scammed out of the money. read more

If I could give this office 0 stars I would. I made a morning appointment thinking it would be quick. I ended up waiting an hour and a half. When I finally saw Dr Patel he told me he didn't know why I was there. His staff made me an appointment with the wrong doctor, he doesn't drain styes, which was what I was there for. The Doctor tried to make it like it was my fault and blamed the wait time on their new updated computer system. Doesn't seem updated to me. Instead of admitting that his staff is a bunch of morons when I called to make an appointment to drain a stye. I will never go back to this office again your dealing with a bunch of idiots, doctors included. It is quicker to drive to Manhattan and back to see a real doctor. I was at the office twice for the same issue, and it was not corrected either time. The second time, I went home and had terrible eye swelling, burning, sensitivity, and pain following my dilation/contact exam. I called the doctor and he had no explanation of why that had happened. I was not given my contacts prescription upon leaving the office, even though I was there for a contact exam, and when I called to get it was told they can email it to me. When I called the optical department to email it to me, they said they weren't allowed to email contact prescriptions and I had to come back to the office to pick it up. I went out of my way to pick it up from the office, had to wait when I got there, and when I tried ordering my contacts online, I realized that Atlantic Eye wrote the wrong type of contacts on my prescription and I was not able to place the order. So I am now out of contacts because this process has taken so long, and I still do not have the correct prescription because there is no answer when I call the office. Terrible service, and very unhelpful staff. Will not be returning, and definitely do not recommend. read more

What a horrible experience it's been to call Atlantic Eye physicians today. I needed to see the doctor as soon as possible but an unprofessional, incompetent woman who told me her name was Monica have asked me to call my insurance to find out if Horizon was OK. otherwise I would have to pay from my visit. I have told her that I have called Horizon and they already informed me that my insurance was just fine. After calling Horizon again, I was informed that this woman did not know what she was doing and that it was impossible for her not to know that my insurance was accepted. I have previously spoken to a man from the Long Branch office and he wondered if I knew the name of the person I had spoken before, referring (monica) unfortunately I told him that I did not ask her name until I made the forth phone call. After placing several calls to this office she denied me with an appointment because they were booked. I requested to speak with the manager, she put me on hold and told me he/she was busy. I told her I was going to write a complaint letter for the way she has treated me. After that suddenly found an hour for tomorrow. I do have a reference number provided by Horizon with all the information regarding the way this incompetent woman has treated me. read more

Just had cataract surgery in both eyes. Dr. Kristan is professional, kind and caring. I had total confidence in him as a surgeon and his staff in the surgery center in Long Branch. I have had appointments in Long Branch, Little Silver, and Wall and have been happy with all of the offices. My husband also uses Dr. Kristan and Dr. Guerriero for diabetic care and a dimple on his retina. We are very happy with both of them. My husband is going to have cataract surgery soon by Dr. Kristan without any hesitation. read more
