My husband had pain yesterday and has had numerous kidney stones over the years. However this was a bit different. We are in vacation but we decided to head to the ER rather than an urgent care. I figured if they decided to do a CAT scan most likely more of a chance at the ER. We waited quite a long time - 4 hours. However once he was seen the care was excellent. It was a kidney stone and an uti. They gave him antibiotics to start. Pleasant staff who did their best to keep up with a the patients coming in. My Dr. Orr advised me go to AGH ER for stomach pain and 4 days of diarrhea. Did anyone go to medical school? I handed them a typed list of my allergies and medications upon arrival. They hooked me up to IV and checked urine. DR. GREENWOOD came to check me. Told him I had severe upper abdominal pain then 2 days then later diarrhea which continued 4 days. No fever. Order CT scan...big MISTAKE prepped me with Steroid shot which I'm allergic to and i told them...5 minutes after the prep I had severe tremors and they ignored it and took me for the scan. My BP was 180 over 82. Didn't bother to treat or monitor this incident. Dr.Greenwood came in said you have bowel inflammation. Gave me lomotil which is an opioid. I specifically asked if this would react to any drugs I'm on namely alprazolam...said NO. I have had severe reactions from the lomotil...hearing muffled, tingling lips, visual disturbance, FEEL OUT OF IT and severe hyperactivity. It clearly states on the PDR do not take both drugs together dangerous reactions. I feel like hell and they discharged me. Totally incompetent care and treatment. It's Saturday can't see my doctor till Monday if I'm lucky. Worst hospital I have ever been to... they don't care or listen ! read more

Can't say enough good things about the staff at this hospital they were so caring and sweet and started to get me pain meds right away before I was even to my room in the ER. I had my IV placed very quickly and I was taken for my CT scan right away. The staff were very attentive to my care. I was diagnosed with kidney stones on my left side that are too large to pass along with a UTI. They gave me zofran for nausea and pain meds to take home to get me through the rest of my vacation read more

Absolutely no care or concern for their patients. You would think being in a small town they would have a more vested interest, but definitely not. They won't let you speak to the Dr. like they're a Celebrity, and when your loved 1 is having problems that can be treated with medical care, they will tell you to get a "court order" for them to actually do some work. Dr. Kathleen Henley's ability to provide information clearly and effectively is simply non-existent. She seemed to take things personally when questioned on the status of our loved one. She discredited her nurse by saying the information we were provided by the nurse was incorrect which made me feel even more uncomfortable with our care. The nurses and other staff were amazing, but when you have an experience like that with a doctor, it results in a lack of confidence in care. Asking questions when a loved one is dying should be handled with patience and no one should ever feel they are scared to ask. read more

Not how I planned to spend a Saturday night in Bethany Beach, but here we are. My husband knocked his head on a beam in the attic while opening up a client's beach house. He ended up with a bit of goose-egg knot on his head. He did not think much of it at the time but the next day, he came down with an excruciating headache, unlike anything he has ever experienced. Worried it was related to the head injury the day before, we decided not to take a chance and took off for what Siri told me the closest ER to our location. I had to wait in the car due to COVID restrictions but hubby kept me informed by text throughout the process. Luckily it was only the after effects of a mild concussion and not a more serious head injury (according to the CT scan). He was pleased with the MD he saw and follow-up instructions he received. He was in and out of there in about an hour too! Hard to believe for a Saturday night. From now on, I think I will make him wear a bike helmet when he is in a low clearance attic. read more

one of the worst hospitals ive ever been to, before i thought it was getting better but the experience i had there a few years ago on medical grounds with the hospitals having cameras on roll all the time, it was just very evident something seriously wrong one of the blonde nurse skinnier one holding a syringe under her clipboard being really out of sorts weird unnormal. including another heavier set blonde girl which i dont have anything against blonde girls i always wanted a best friend that was blonde but besides the point something wrong happened there & my innocents isn't being free idk how to explain this with a normal text but i cant believe i cant even believe or trust the one place im supposed to especially if i needed to go there from a stalking problem that i ignored for years then had to mention. My spouse came into the ER because he consumed what he thought was a thc tincture from a friend and it ended up being benzodiazepines. Dumb decision, yes, but no excuse for the behavior of Dr. Sirockman. My spouse came in at 7:10am on 06/27/24 and had a wonderful nurse named Barbara and an amazing tech named Porter. Both were compassionate and treated my spouse with respect. On the other hand Dr. Sirockman made it obvious that my spouse was an inconvenience to him. My spouse asked to be tested for STIs because he was drugged and Dr.Sirockman said he didn't think it was necessary. He had an attitude the whole visit and rushed everything. He could be heard saying to a nurse "Now he's crying" when my spouse was crying because he could not remember the last four days. That is the part that shocked me, not only is discussing a patient outside there room where others can hear horrendous, but making a comment like that in earshot of a patient who is struggling not only physically but mentally is disturbing to say the least. Dr. Sirockman condescendingly said to my spouse, "what did we learn? No drugs" which yes is true, but it was obviously not an intentional use of benzodiazepines. I understand some doctors do not think of addiction as a disease but the behavior of Dr. Sirockman was disgusting. All patients should be treated equal. My spouse shouldn't have been made to feel like a bother, after experiencing something that was traumatic and not intentional. My spouses concerns should have been taken seriously, not brushed off and made into a joke. I hope Dr. Sirockman can improve his behavior towards those dealing with drug issues, as they are important too. I've been to AGH since I was a child and never had an issue but after hearing my spouses experience I felt as though I needed to say something. Again, the front desk staff, the nurses and techs were wonderful but Dr. Sirockman made him feel unwelcome, bothersome, and guilty. If you are practicing medicine and dealing with patients on the daily, you should treat them all with the same care. I am not a doctor, nor will I ever be smart enough to become one, but I know how to treat people (ALL PEOPLE) with respect and I highly encourage Dr.Sirockman to brush up on his communication skills . (5stars) then he spent 3.5 mins looking at my issue, my knee injury. And said it cellutisis. Wrote a couple scripts, and i was out the door. Wait i have questions dude come on. I could truly sum this place up with one simple line...."what an absolute train wreck of an establishment"...but I feel that just doesn't truly do justice as to how dysfunctional this place was for my family and I. Sadly, part of my family's vacation was spent at this hospital, and by part of it I mean an entire evening where 97% of the time spent was in the waiting room. I could not believe how long I was there waiting for our name to be called. Making it worse was the teasing that was being done as staff continued to tell us "you are next up" as they scrolled on the mouse staring at the computer screen. I firmly believe what they were looking at was their 3rd game of solitaire rather then the schedule of patients because after being told on three separate occasions that we were next I watched 8 others be called before us. I mean, what's the point of lying? Just say "you aren't getting called until the Jet's win the next super bowl" if it's going to seriously be hours and hours until we are called. But it doesn't end there... Once we did get called the waiting game began again in the patient room. It was like a nightmare where a broken record just kept playing the same tune over and over. I guess they got tired of us asking and simply said "move them so they shut up". Talk about being stuck in a medical purgatory. Once we were finally addressed and taken care of everyone was impatient, in a rush, and ultimately were acting as if they forgot that they left candles lit next to the curtains in the break room and had to go put it out before the place went up in flames. I felt like my family had the bubonic plague with the way we were being avoided. Not exactly how you should be made to feel in an emergency situation when your child is injured... But at least we ended up getting the help we needed right? . We ended up getting a diagnosis that literally could not have been more wrong. We got a second opinion and the people at that second opinion location practically chuckled and poked fun at the original diagnosis like it was the drunken uncle who showed up to his nephews birthday party in a wrestling singlet and timberlands. So my family practically spent enough time of our vacation in a hospital that when we walked out the grass was 3/4 of an inch higher then when we walked in, and in this time we were actually tended to by the doctors for 20 minutes, just to get a wrong diagnosis. Place seems like it's runs by Peter Pan and the guy who gave Jack his magic beans. Id rather get open heart surgery at a civil war hospital then get an ingrown toe nail removed at this place after my experience. read more

My friend had severe pain and edema that could have been a sign of blood clots, with which he has a history. This hospital is clean, quiet, easy to reach from Ocean City and the E.R. waiting time was minimal. The staff was extremely courteous and professional. His nurse, Andi, was not only skilled technically but also had a great, funny bedside manner. The ultrasound was performed in a timely manner, Dr. Wild gave the patient the good news, and we were sent on our way. My parents are very elderly and visit Ocean City several times a season. I would not hesitate for them to use this hospital. It's close, offers almost everything a patient with an emergent condition would need, and the staff is very good to excellent. If the E.R. is the first stop in your illness journey, perhaps you need to rethink the way you care for yourself. My friend has CHF and DVP, so when his legs swelled, we knew where we had to go. But it's not the place for someone with a cold to go as a first stop. And it's not the place for medical mysteries to be completely unraveled. It's a starting off point, and a place to get patients stable. Atlantic General aquits itself well in these areas. read more

This hospital is filthy, there are bloody needles laying on the ground accompanied with splotches of blood, the nurses try to force procedures when they have no right to, and the doctor acted like he didn't care that we just entered an Emergancy room. Worst place to go in any emergency. Might be worth the trip to another hospital. The nurse Meghan literally watched the person we brought in to the emergency room have a seizure and was trying to suggest a scan and took almost a full minute to respond to the monitor nerving because of the excessive raise in heart rate. The staff here appears to care about nothing and tries to diagnose patients with problems to give themselves less work. Meghan the nurse also wouldn't listen to us or the patient we brought in and expressed attitude when realizing we were correct. Meghan continued to tell us and the patient what was happening to her instead of listening, and gave attitude to us while not continuing to listening. She also didn't rejoin the patient to the monitor after collecting a sample, extremely displeased and grateful that the person we brought didn't need actual help because we would have had to call 911 and taken to a different hospital for actual treatment. read more

I was sent to Atlantic General hospital wound care center for breast cancer radiation burns. The PA that they set me up with came in the room after an hour and a half and called my 3rd° burns a "rash". He offered me nothing for topical pain treatment such as creams lotions and offered me no means as to wrapping the burns. I have been through nine months of cancer treatment with surgery radiation chemotherapy and this is the worst that I have been neglected in those nine months. Do not seek care on the Eastern shore and assure yourself of the best care by going across the bridge to Annapolis or Baltimore. read more

The rating for this hospital is a negative. I never spend time on writing reviews but this experience was awful. The physicians and nurses are completely incompetent. My fiancé had a bad case of food poisoning and was vomiting from noon to 10pm. I finally was able to convince him to go to the ER. He wasn't able to hold any fluid down since he began vomiting at noon. As soon as we got there they said he didn't need IV hydration that they would do a PO challenge after giving him sublingual Zofran to see if he tolerates the fluids. Based on his vital signs he was stable meaning he was asymptomatic from signs of dehydration..but why wait to be symptomatic when you are told a person has been vomiting all day unable to keep fluids down! OBVIOUSLY he tolerated little sips after the ZOFRAN it's antiemetic and makes you sleepy. They discharged us with a prescription and said to come back if he continues to vomit. During the night of course he began to Vomit. I called the ED and explained what happened and the apparent hospital supervisor "Betty" said well bring him back in but there is no guarantee what the doctor will order him maybe more Zofran maybe IV fluids. Does this make any sense? Completely incompetent providers. If you want to live do not go there because they don't care! read more

My fiancé's experience was a very good one. We went to the ER because my fiancé was experiencing shortness of breath, high fevers, weakness and headaches for three days. Immediately the ER took care of him, ordering extensive testings. Because of my fiancé's normally healthy lifestyle and general good health, Dr Woodland immediately diagnosed him with a very rare type of pneumonia. My fiancé was then admitted to the hospital. From the moment we walked through those doors he was given the most professional health care at any given time. Dr Crisler spoke to us numerous times throughout his stay keeping us informed of his prognoses. Every nurse or aide was caring and promptly took care of all his needs. The entire staff was pleasant and the hospital was very clean. This happened when we were on vacation. I was hesitant to go to just any hospital, especially because I see a lot being a nurse. My mom, who is 82, was told after visiting a Patient First type facility in OC, MD that she needed to go to the emergency room in Berlin right away. Mom has Afib, Pancreatitis, and her symptoms were concerning to the doctor. This doctor even offered to call an ambulance. My dad took her and she was seen by Dr. William Wild, DO. He was totally unprofessional and so was the staff that waited on my mom. The nurse was unbelievably rude to her (very short and sarcastic); Dr. Wild examined her and told her she had a cold, and that this facility was for emergencies only and to get dressed, she could leave. I am shocked that any nurse or doctor would treat a patient this way. My mother is the nicest person you could meet - so this was very sad to hear. read more

Been to AGH several times since moving here. Treated rudely every time from the front door to seeing doctors. I have a continual hard to pin point medical condition. They don't have a clue and when you spend just a few minutes with a doctor no one will. On my last visit I was transported to another hospital via private ambulance. Before I allowed this transport I indicated I would only permit as long as my insurance covered. I was assured more than once by the doctor and ambulatory staff that Medicare would cover. It did not! Receiving bill for $2000.00 that I can't pay. Told by ambulance company it was coded incorrectly at hospital. When leaving a major hospital was told to come back there because my home area was known to have the most compromised medical care in the state. Looked forward to retiring to the ocean for many years. Medicine so bad here we are moving back. I have awakened this morning needing help and don't know where to go or what to do. Bad position to be in as we are loaded with primary docs but good specialists are nil. Basically, I need help now and there is no help over here on Marylands lower eastern shore. read more

Wow what a year and half does to change our health care system. Last month I took my wife to an ER for the first time in her life because her fever was not going down after few days with Tylenol. To make a long story short, she did not occupy a bed and Dr spent with her literally 2 minutes, diagnosed her with upper respiratory infection, prescribed antibiotics, and sent her home. The care was far away from great, nurse that draw my wife's blood bruised her arm for two weeks. But we would not complain. To our surprise we received bills totaling $1,000!! Billing department and patient relations would not negotiate the bills and were quite rude. Avoid visiting this place if you can! Come on really $1,000 for a simple ER visit. read more
