OMG. The emergency room runs in slow motion. There is no emergency in this staff"s vocabulary. My husband and I waited for 3 1/2 hours with him vomiting and sleeping in intervals. I could have gone to urgent care and got better results than emergency. We came from NY/NJ area and this staff and it's process/procedures would never make it to that level. Shameful. Someone needs to reevaluate. It's not working. read more

Worst experience of my life. I called for an ambulance because I was on vacation in Ocean City Maryland just me and my nine-year-old son. The ambulance shows up and I was feeling better and they told me that I could wanted to drive myself to the hospital to get checked out I could. I was like I don't feel comfortable doing that when I'm 200 miles from home and I have my 9 year old with me and almost passed out. So they reluctantly took me in the ambulance to the hospital. Once arriving at the hospital several of the nurses were giving the EMTs, both named Ryan, crap for showing back up at the hospital because apparently they had told all the nurses they wouldn't be back that day. So clearly they didn't want to drive me because they thought we were done for the day. I got checked in right away and the lady at registration was very nice, one of the only reasons this review is getting 2 stars. ( The only other reason this place is getting two stars is because my son was with me and a very nice pregnant nurse fed him while we waited there for five hours for me to be seen). The other reason I am only getting two stars is because the nurse practitioner that saw me ended up diagnosing me with headaches. Headaches! I clearly had an ocular migraine, my first one, but an easy Google search on my own I figure that out. I would never recommend anyone using these Emergency Services. read more

Julianne McBride and Gina Mofta are the most unprofessional, rude, and ignorant health care workers I have ever encountered. How Gina Mofta is even a doctor is beyond me. Both should not be allowed anywhere near patients and are a true testament to incompetency. I would go anywhere else for treatment other than this hospital unless you are dying, and even then you may just want to consider dying without the undignified visit to AGH. read more

Had to take my wife to the emergency room for a compound fracture after a fall while on vacation in Ocean City on July 10, 2018. From the moment we stepped in to the e r to the moment we left we were treated with nothing but respect, kindness and professionalism. Everyone from the e r sign in ladies to all the staff in the e r and even the pharmacy staff were great. Everyone had great compassion for my wife and made us feel at ease. Dr. Beck was awesome, funny had a great bed side manner . He set and casted the injury perfectly! We were in and out in less than three hours. Keep up the good work! Had surgery at AGH and felt that I was provided the absolute best care by my doctor, Kevin Lee, and the entire nursing staff. Every one of my needs were met in a timely manner, the entire staff was caring and courteous and each made me feel like they cared about me! read more

While on vacation in OC on 4/17, my husband took me to Atlantic General Emergency Dept. because of severe pain, dizziness, chills, etc. which turned out to be Cellulitis. I couldn't have asked for better care. I was taken in almost immediately, my symptoms addressed. My nurse Nettie gave me great care. I think Julie also when I first got there. Not sure because I was in a bad state of mind because of my pain. Dr. Todd was great also the woman who took a CT scan and anyone else who had a part while I was there till early evening. With their care, we were able to go back home the next day with a treatment plan and peace of mind! read more

I took my friend here for a possible broken ankle and we both were treated like we were the lowest class of human beings. The only pleasant person was the lady at the check in desk who was kind and helpful. We waited, along with 1 couple and 1 nanny himself, for over an hour. Staff walked by on their way to/from the elevator complaining about parking and 12 hour shifts and bad benefits. Several ER staff walked by getting sodas and snacks from the waiting room vending machines, laughing and clearly in no hurry to treat any of us. This was at 2pm on a Wednesday and the hospital seemed fairly quiet. I asked 2 different staff if we could get ice to refill our ice pack and they both said "you'll have to wait until they take you back". Anyway, the intake nurse finally took in the couple to a small room and proceeded to loudly ask questions and say the patient's vitals and other private information out loud. The patient (female) was crying and in obvious stomach distress. The intake nurse was rude and was sighing and shaking her head while putting info into her computer. Sadly, my friend and I, although 20 years older than this couple, were also treated like crap. My friend was asked if she fell down while drunk! Not really an appropriate question as my friend told her that she fell through a step that had rotted wood at a local restaurant. The nurse was around 40 years old, dyed blond hair, fake tan, and wore pink pants with a print top. When the nurse in the ER cubicle saw my friend's ankle she immediately got us fresh ice. Turned out it was a bad sprain and my friend is doing fine. Don't go to this hospital for a hangnail!! read more

In June 2013 my husband went to the ER at AGH due to 9 days of what he thought was pain trying to pass a kidney stone. The professionals at AGH found that he did not have a kidney stone but a disease called Diverticalitus which was not only causing his pain but had actually caused a hole in his intestines. My husband was admitted and was in the hospital for 9 days. While there we were treated with the best care! My husband had to have the damaged part of his intestine removedand we know the doctors and nurses saved his life. My husband is not even 40 years old and has been told countless times that he was too young to have issues with his intestines when he would complain of issues. The team at AGH really hit it out of the park as far as our family was concerned! We will always be thankful and grateful! read more

Amanda Wainwright - our first visit with nurse practitioner Amanda was as excellent as it could have been. She is professional, attentive, listens, explains, has a wonderful demeanor. This is extremely thorough, asks all the right questions and is non judgmental yet offers expert medical advice. I feel we are in excellent medical hands now. read more

Went for pre-surgical lab work and when a question arose the lab tech promptly made a call to receive an answer. Also, since I had a scheduled mammogram that morning she pre-registered me. After my lab work (went very smoothly) someone brought me to my mammogram appointment (nice touch with a kuerig coffee machine). I also bought an egg sandwich at the cafeteria (very good and reasonably priced). Everyone was very professional and pleasant. read more

Finally received a poorly-written letter telling me that my experience at AGH was normal (well good to know!) They actually ignored the fact that some unprofessional nurse burst my eardrum because she was too excited to perform it ( she obviously lost all sense of professionalism). I now have to file an appeal with the department. It's sad that they want to defend their poor treatment. This isn't the first time I've had issues with their terrible medical care, but the fact that no one wants to take responsibility and apologize is disgusting. I have filed a complaint. I love this hospital. I have chronic health issues and need frequent tests and treatments. Personally, I always pick AGH over other hospitals in the area. The staff, nurses, and doctors are friendly and professional. Everyone makes an effort to know you personally and they are so accommodating. I really can't say enough good things about the hospital and their PERKS portal makes it easy to get your test results quickly. read more

Where to start with this hospital? They seriously are a crock of crap. I came in due to severe pain in my right flank, I was sure it was a kidney stone (I knew what it felt like, had one at 17) The older lady at the front desk checking people in was a complete sweetheart. She apologized that I was in pain and that I had to be there. The triage nurse was very nice as well and very up to speed working as fast as she could to get me to the back. Well, when I got to the back the nurse that was gonna be with me for my stay got there ASAP, took my blood, and started me on IV fluids. My nurse practitioner came in to examine me and see what was going on, she (pardon my French) was a massive bitch. She had a horrible attitude. I think her last name was McBride. She would ask me questions about my pain, then I would answer and she would roll her eyes at my response. At first I just thought maybe she had something in her eye, but my girlfriend (a local in Ocean City, Maryland who REFUSES to goto AGH) asked me if I seen her roll her eyes multiple time. Like I said, I thought it was nothing major until she walked out and had the nurse bring me a MILD pain reliever (which did NOTHING) as if she had thought I was full of shit. I've had a kidney stone before so I already knew what the pain was like so this time I was able to cope with it better then the first time. They did a CT scan and ran my urine specimen, they came in to let me know every thing showed up normal except that I had UTI bacteria in my urine. As for the side pain they pretty much said "I don't know why you have back pain, because UTI's don't cause that" They started me on my first dose of antibiotics since the pharmacies where all closed in the area (the only positive thing they did that helped me) and sent me on my way. So here I am, an hour and a half later STILL having side pain, but they gave me Tylenol #3 which is nothing compared to the stuff I'm already taking for a slipped disk in my back. I honestly can say that if you want decent care and you aren't dying, take the extra couple of miles and head to the hospital in Salisbury and get decent helpful care where you aren't treated like a joke. I have been seeing in the AGH health care system for many years. I was just recently told by some women with no last name that I was no longer allowed to use AGH doctors because I have missed some appointments. I am 65 disabled ongoing illness that need to be monitored or could affect my vital organs. So in one short phone call I was basically kicked out of all my doctors. I know I should have been more considerate of my appointments. One of the no shows was my brother passed away and I had to go to florida. One of the no shows was not correct I did not miss that appointment. So in total 1 appointment I had missed. So for this missed appointment I have no doctors. They say I signed something about missed appointments, don't recall. I got no advanced notice that if I missed anymore appointments I would not have access to my doctors. So I did not know this was going to happen. All I am saying here is there should have been more communication to me..So I am left with no doctors and unable to refill medications that I need to take everyday. I decided to write a review based on some of the negative reviews I read about AGH. I generally don't have need to visit the hospital except for my annual mammogram which is pretty routine but always a comfortable experience. Recently I personally had to visit the ER on two occasions for severe pain in my lower left flank. The first time was on 7/7 at 3 am and the second on 8/9 at just about midnight. I was greeted immediately and shortly after saw the Triage nurse and gave my symptoms and was taken back to Fast Track for care. Although it felt like forever due to my pain, a tech came in quickly and set up the IV to draw blood and get urine sample. I was quickly diagnosed with kidney stones and a CT scan was ordered. As soon as they gave me the standard drug protocol for kidney stones, my pain went away and after the radiologist read the scan it was confirmed I was passing one stone and still had another that wasn't in a position to come out yet. I feel I received very good care and if you are visiting the beach town in the summer, expect to wait in the ER when the partiers go over board and take up space and time. I guess you too might get an attitude when you have to deal with drunks on a regular basis. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL! Go to PRMC in Salisbury instead. They are inadequate. They do not know what they are doing. My father was under THEIR care when his brain started to swell two days after suffering a stroke, they had him rushed to PRMC, with a breathing tube down his throat, which is something YOU SHOULD NEVER DO when the persons blood pressure is high (it could cause them to go into cardiac arrest). My father is now in a nursing home for the rest of his life because the nurses at this hospital didn't know how to handle his situation properly. My father suffered a minor stroke, and was completely fine, until AGH felt the need to shove a breathing tube down his throat so their asses would be covered if my father died. Now he is forever damaged in his brain thanks to them. Oh, they also broke his nose when trying to put him in the MRI machine. read more

My friend and I were in Ocean City for a weekend of outlet shopping when she fell ill. The hotel directed us to Atlantic General Hospital and we went to the emergency room. Triage was immediate, emergency room tests and CAT scan conducted in a timely manner. Results showed that she needed emergency surgery for perforated diverticulitis. Dr. Dang and ALL the staff we encountered were fabulous. From ER to OR waiting room area, even the folks working the makeshift cafeteria (while constructon on the dining room), to every nurse in every area - ER, OR, even a private room. Amazing. She needs to stay a week due to the surgery, but I'm certain that she will be looked after by caring, competent staff. Thanks to everyone at Atlantic General. You are truly life savers. read more

I am very impressed with the ER at Atlantic General. We transported someone with a head wound in our car. Someone came out and met us at the door and inquired if we needed a wheel chair. From the time we walked in the door until we left, after cleaning the wound, tetanus shot, 5 staples, and a CAT scan, it was one hour. Everyone was very personable and pleasant. Fortunately, over the years I have not had to make too many visits to an emergency room. And, when you are out of town, it can be especially unnerving. But, when your situation requires such, as mine did, I was very impressed with this hospital. First, the EMT's in Ocean City, MD are the best (even though they are not affiliated with the hospital). Upon arrival, my needs were addressed immediately with a very professional and knowledgeable staff. Upon being admitted, I found the hospital staff to be exceptional. Highest marks to Dr. Chrisler. In my short stay, I spoke to four different doctors. I have been in other hospitals where you were lucky if a doctor stopped in once each day. They ran appropriate tests and consulted one another before arriving at their conclusion and recommendations. Prior to leaving, they provided me with print outs and digital information on my case. Even the pharmacy was exceptional. No offense, but it was wonderful to be able to speak with staff about one's medications and be able to understand them. And I am so pleased to see that they have students from the nearby pharmacy school working there. Students who made it a point to go over every detail of the medications. My husband was allowed to stay with me in the room. He said even the food in the cafeteria was good. The only complaint that I have, and a minor one at that, would be in regard to the ladies who came in to clean the room. They could have been a bit more attentive to detail. However, I am sure they did not like having to work on Memorial Day. All in all, if anything should ever happen to me or a member of my family in or around Ocean City again, I would not hesitate for a minute to go to this hospital.
