My grandma has lived in Bangladesh all her life. And a few months ago she had come to America to live with us. So it's safe to say that she isn't the best at her english. And as of recently we had taken her to the ICU because she hasn't been feeling the best. Causing her to stay there at the ICU for a few nights. And it has made us feel so much better knowing that she was put into the caring hands of Kira Daugherdy. She is such an angel, truly. My grandma is usually a very anxious woman. The office made me wait almost 2 months to get into see her on the morning of my scheduled appointment at 8:54 AM with a 10 o'clock appointment. I got a call they couldn't come into the office today. They have to reschedule me and offer reschedule for November. Not fair and not recommend it. read more

When I checked in to the Surgery Waiting Room Friday August 12th at 5:45 AM in Atlantic City , I didn't know what to expect. From the moment a smiling young woman approached me and told me they were ready for me, I started to feel a sense of calm. I was processed by three different people, nurses and doctors. They helped me to prepare for my surgery, brought me my patient attire and connected me to my IV and my identity bracelets. All of the people I interacted with just before surgery were very pleasant and extremely kind. I was wheeled into surgery by the same smiling young woman who greeted me in the waiting area. There was a team waiting there and I felt immediately at ease and yes...even kind of fearless. I was having a brain tumor removed using endoscopy. The procedure was that they go in through my nasal passages, drill a small hole in the base of my skull and remove the tumor, which was larger than most and pressing up against my pituitary gland. I awakened in ICU and had constant attention from a team of nurses who not only made me feel constantly at ease, but they earnestly seemed to care about my health and healing. It was such an unbelievably pleasant situation. I don't trust people, so for me to not only put my trust in a large group of strangers and have all of my fears and concerns responded to with absolute kindness was truly one of the greatest experiences of my life. I could see the reality of their jobs behind their eyes, I know they have to accept a patient's death when it happens, so they go in with a completely open and caring mind. I had so many people attend to me in those two and a half days that I felt more nurtured than I have since preschool. They helped me to stay courageous and think positively too. The doctors and nurses who worked to make my surgery and recovery successful will always hold a special place in my heart. I was discharged from the hospital Sunday at 1 PM, making it only 2 1/2 days in total. While I have raving reviews for the staff at AtlantiCare, I must take a moment to share one criticism. I have been vegan for 8+ years now and I made the change for my health, as I was uncertain what they were injecting animals with and I didn't want any of that in my body. When I received a call about my scheduled surgery and went over the details over the phone with the lady who called, I mentioned that I required a plant based option for all of my meals. She assured me that the kitchen would be accommodating. Now, I understand many people do not concern their selves with knowing what vegans do and do not eat, but AtlantiCare must have someone responsible for planning meals for all of the patients; omnivores, carnivores, vegans, etc. Sadly no attention has been given to the vegan patient at this facility. On the following day I ordered a fruit plate for breakfast and a veggie burger for lunch and the lady taking the food request told me that the kosher option was also vegan, so I said yes to it for dinner. The fruit plate was great! The veggie burger for lunch was very dry and it was all by itself on a plate. No lettuce, no tomato and of course no plant based cheese. When evening came and the other patients in ICU were being served, I finally called my nurse to ask if I was getting dinner. I was told that a tray was delivered for me but that it had something on it that was definitely NOT vegan, so they sent it back to the kitchen. It took an hour for the kitchen people to prepare me another veggie burger (this time with lettuce and tomato) and a small salad. No salad dressing was brought and no utensils to eat with. That took another 20 minutes. I know there is always criticism of hospital food, but the ignorance towards vegans by the dietary manager and kitchen staff is terrible and needs to be dealt with. I had my surgery done there 7/26/22 and the procedure itself was no issue but on the other hand there were more "students" there than actual nurses and my floor was full of recovery patients so it took a while to even be able to get help to go to the toilet or be unhooked from my IV. Another reason is because they had my mother wait in the loop to pick me up for almost 20 mins because of being short staffed. read more

Unfortunately I don't have a choice but to give them 1 star, they don't even deserve 1. The residents were AWFUL. The resident in the E.R. on the main campus gave my 90 yr old Father way too much Dilaudid per another Dr. Then there is Dr. Ahmed in the A.C. division. He was an awful resident who could care less about my Father. He did NOTHING for him. All the nurses on the other hand were absolutely wonderful. Because of the Dr's, I wouldn't bring my dog here. I had a terrible experience at this place. My son had been brought into the ER late one night due to a mental health issue. We drove over an hour to get there just to be told that we can't see him. Although a high school student, he is 18 (adult), due to HIPAA laws we were told we could not see him or have any contact whatsoever. We were spoken to by the staff with such disrespect as they told us they could not give us any word on his condition. He was visiting AC for the weekend with friends and we traveled there immediately from over an hour away when we got the call that he had been brought there by ambulance. As our family (there were five of us) sat in the ER waiting room in crisis, trying to collect ourselves and decide what to do, the security guard comes over and attempts to pick an argument with me. He said that because we were told we cannot see the patient, there is no need for us to stay in the waiting room. The place was not crowded at 3am on a Sunday, yet he thought it was a good idea to come to me with this! I asked him if he was kicking us out for some reason and he replied "no", but insisted upon going back-and-forth about why it was illogical to him for us to wait around any longer. We were super quiet and just trying to figure things out as we dealt with our crisis and there was no empathy whatsoever from this unprofessional individual. I asked if having us leave was lawful because I was feeling targeted, and he immediately became even more condescending and rude just because I mentioned the word "law". Luckily, they released my son to me 10 hours later and we got far away from that toxic environment and brought him somewhere he could actually receive the help he needed. Our son is doing much better, by the way, and about to graduate high school. The staff at this place needs to be trained in sensitivity. I am sure that in the area where they work, they encounter some questionable people and situations daily. However, every person is different and every situation is unique. They need to learn to treat human beings better than this. I am completely dissatisfied. read more

Watch out for Atlanticare Billing department ... required a payment before the procedure, claimed that it was cleared by the insurance company - not accurate as the money paid was a lot more that what was owed. Took them 2 1/2 months to give me the credit on my credit card.... not to mention that I had to call over 8 times and speak with a few very ride people in that billing department. Finally I got my money back, my next call will be the State of NJ Health Department. read more

My mother was admitted to AtlantiCare in ATLANTIC City for 7 days. She had complication from a Mastectomy that was done previously. She said the nurses were very nice. However, doctors had to perform a procedure to help relief the discomfort she was having due to the complication. But they carried out the procedure without any Anesthesia. Mind you, this was an invasive procedure. She said, they held her down, and when she was screaming, they restrained her with a rope. I want these doctors to know that even though we are in crisis, they don't have to treat anyone this way. She is still in pain, but most of all she can not get off her mind the way she was restrained and the pain she felt. Doctors are there to save lives not hurt patients. Remember you took an oath to do what you are doing and you promised not to do harm. read more

When my mother fell at our beach house in OC NJ she was taken by ambulance to Shore Memorial by an amazing, caring team. After her CT scan there, they determined she needed to be at AtlantiCare in Atlantic City. From the moment we got there to her time in ICU to the step down unit they put her in we had nothing but the best care! We then had her transported to a rehabilitation place in Haverford PA by Michael McNamara and Mark Barbetlo, two of the kindest and caring people who took care of my mom. In July 2022 my father had a catheter placed for starting dialysis treatments. From the Surgeon, Dr Kassis to the Anesthesoolgy department and the entire nursing staff everyone was professional, knowledgeable and kind. I have worked in the health care field for many years and understand how challenging the profession can be- The Atlantic Care City Division staff went out of their way to take care of my father and our family. Don't make an appointment, just roll in whenever you feel like it. They won't honor your appointment and will leave you in the wait in room for hours until they are bored enough or have nothing better to do and decide to finally call you in. I am currently sitting in the Jefferson Neurology section of this place, my mom had an appointment at 1:30pm, we were 20 minutes early. It is now 2:30, we are still waiting. Our appointment time has come and gone...no one bothered to apologize, to let us know why there was a delay or ask if we were ok. Just left here. Best part of this whole thing, my mom got up and asked about her appointment time and the fact that people who came in after us were called in. The 'lady' at the desk said we will call you when it's your turn have a seat. Me personally.....I wouldn't come to this hospital if my leg was about to fall off and this was the closest place. I can't make my mom go elsewhere, but if I could I would have made her leave half an hour ago. read more

Of all of the not fun places one can find themselves in Atlantic City, this is probably the least fun place next to the dungeon of a drug den for unpaid gambling debts. I can't speak to the whole hospital but as far as the emergency room here goes, it's terrible. During my most recent visit to Atlantic City, I woke up incredibly ill on what was supposed to be my last day. After losing the contents of my stomach for two hours straight, I had myself transported to the hospital where (when after an hour, I finally saw a triage nurse) I had a fever of a couple of degrees. By the time I was actually treated, three hours later, my fever had risen to almost 103 and I felt like I was going to pass out in the waiting room. It was not pleasant to say the least. Meanwhile, people who had arrived after me, not by ambulance, and showing no physical signs of distress were being escorted into the hospital. The reason for my wait was they had no hospital beds available to treat people who needed more urgent care. Um, wait. What? I'm not a doctor but that makes no sense. Once I finally saw a nurse practitioner, I was treated well. There was a small problem with the IV they put in (but I think that was my fault for tensing up) and they couldn't diagnose what was wrong (but they did their due diligence). But I left with a fever of 100 again and a prescription for some strong anti-nausea pills that allowed me to "enjoy" my extra day in Atlantic City (since I waited so long, I missed my bus home). But at least they have a nice agreement with the casinos that if you get transported here in an ambulance, the casinos will pay to get you home. So that's a nice perk in a land of really bad times. read more

I stayed here overnight in July 2011 for my surgery, so I've really only experienced one aspect of this hospital. The staff was great; at the beginning of every shift, the nurses would come to my room and introduce themselves and write their names on the board, because lord knows I was too wacked out to remember anything. They were also really quick come assist me when I had to be unhooked from my 25 million apperati to use the bathroom, as well as quickly adminstering those nausea meds. Everybody on the wing was really great, right down to the janitorial staff. Also, when I came here for my "bootcamp" session a few days before surgery, the woman running it was very helpful and thorough, and even gave me a private tour of the wing I'd be staying in. I was also here about a million times for bloodwork and other testing. The staff in the lab unit is also friendly, but they had a loootttt of trouble finding a vein to take blood. I think I had 3 different lab techs standing around me at one time trying to stick me. "Hey, Jason, you wanna come 'ere? I can't find a vein in her! See if you can!" Not really a pleasant experience. Still, the thing that sticks out in my mind is my overnight stay here, which was about as pleasant an experience as you can have overnight in a hospital. Oh, the building is actually quite lovely inside, especially the lobby and the meeting rooms. Clean, spacious, and lots of windows to let in the sunshine! read more

I was told after 45 minutes waiting that they do not have a doctor available and I have to wait until 9 am and that hopefully the doctor will come in. This after being told I could not get an appointment for a stress test for two months unless I came to the hospital. I think this is very unprofessional read more

While I think many many people work hard at the hospital, mistakes will and do happen. One, for my dad, left him in PCU for a week. That was over a year ago. I felt the organization's culture is one of deflect and set barriers for taking any responsibity. He passed away last week and I did get "thoughts and prayers" tho. read more

My doctor sent me to AtlantiCare Urgent Care to get a Strep test. They made me wait an hour to tell me they don't do them either and send me to their ER. After another hour at AtlantiCare ER they told me I didn't show symptoms and wouldn't give me the test. After another 1 1/2 hrs of waiting to get released I walked out without ever getting released. I went to another hospital and paid out of pocket. I tested positive for Strep. This is the third bad experience I have had at AtlantiCare. I understand why they are called Atlantic We Don't Care. read more

Yaacov Zamel is the sole reason for this rating. I had the misfortune of meeting this doctor in the ER of AtlantiCare in AC, NJ. I took my daughter to this hospital as a precaution that she "may" have ingested pills from a visiting relative. We weren't certain but we decided to exercise precaution instead of guessing. I overheard this doctor prior to any engagement with myself or my fiancé advocating calling DYFS, based only on what I assume to be appearance (Race). I interrupted his conversation and told him that maybe he should actually get the facts from us prior to thinking that my kind is abusive. He actions were more concerned with involving the state agency than providing care to my child. The interns and nursing staff were much more helpful. My 2 interactions with this doctor was to speak to me about getting DYFS involved. The labs and blood came back negative for any toxicity but he still insisted on involving the state. I am a VP at a mortgage company and earn a very great living and we were dressed as well or maybe better than most people at the facility at the time. The facility is located in an urban area and his assumptions were that we were members of that community and not visiting for the day. His bedside manners were shockingly what anyone should expect during a moment of crisis. Had he made the recommendation after speaking to us, I would've believed that he was acting in the best interest of my child, but clearly he had a predetermined reaction to our appearance. THE STATE DID VISIT AND THEY STATED THAT THEY DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WERE INVOLVED, BUT THE ARE REQUIRED TO INVESTIGATE. THEY LOVED OUR HOME AND RECOMMENDING THAT THE CASE BE CLOSED. read more

On Friday, June 11, 2021 at 11:00 pm I went to the Emergency Room of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. They took my medical health insurance immediately and then I sat for maybe 30 minutes when they called me to review everything that I had given them and added my level of pain. Once they had this information I waited about 25 minutes and I was than taken to the Emergency beds. The nurse immediately reviewed everything and than proceeded to take numerous blood samples. The ER Doctor had reviewed my issues and told me that I would be having a Cat Scan. The time moved fast and once the results of the Cat Scan were reviewed the ER Doctor came and advised me that I would be having surgery. The surgeon had been called and they had already assembled the surgical team. The ER Doctor reviewed the procedure and the different possibilities that could be. It seemed I was moved upstairs immediately and the surgical team introduced themselves to me. The surgeon spoke directly to me and we discussed the issue of procedure since I lived in NY. The Surgeon had also spoke to by husband and assured him they would call him or he could stay. Ninety minutes later the surgery was complete and once I was awake they brought my husband to me. My husband was assured that I would be closely monitored. In the next 12 hours I had a visit from the ER Surgical Team, nurses and my surgeon Dr. A. Galvez. After reviewing my current chart Dr. Galvez advised me he was going to request a dinner for me. If the results were successful I would be discharged. I was discharged and the prescription was waiting from me in the hospital pharmacy. There is no question I had outstanding care read more

This place is absolutely terrible, doesn't feel clean, has a horrible in-take process and the doctors treat you poorly. Furthermore, I've tried calling to follow-up on some information as they told me to do and operators are mean and unhelpful. read more

My brother was a patient at this hospital for about a month his doctor is Dr.Barrett Woods he is a great surgeon he has a great bedside manor with his patients and with their families. I should know he was very very patient with me especially that I had to call him at 2:00am and other late night to inform him about the problems my brother was having or asked him questions about my brother health and a problem my brother was having about his place for rehabilitation anytime I called him I said I'm sorry to bother u at this late hour he always said it's no bother he answered all my questions and when I asked him if he can help my bother with a rehabilitation problem he said yes I'll go right now to see him which he did in a matter of 5 minutes he had the problem solved. He should get a award honoring him for his knowledge and bedside manners. The staff in ICU+CCU were great and the staff that took care of my brother when he went to the 4floor room 4130 were just as great he felt really wanted and cared for by all the staffs that were part of the hospital he was assigned to especially the staff who worked alongside Dr.Barrett Woods. He and I Thanked everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all his excellent care he received. read more

My mom broke her leg in AC. I have to say, just about everyone I met here at the hospital were fantastic. All the nurses were exceptional, I can's say enough about them. The only reason I didn't give the medical center a 5 star was because I really didn't think the social worker researched enough for a rehab for my mom. Being out of town, I had no idea what rehab to put my mom in, she only gave us a list of rehabs that accept Medicare and told us that the ambulance to transport my mom would cost us about $1,000. Well my mom is one of the lucky ones who has three, yes three different insurances and the ambulance cost her nothing. I believe the social worker could have placed my mom in a better facility if she bothered to research with all my mom's insurance coverage, not just Medicare, but that is just my opinion. If I wasn't out of town and I had a computer to do my own research, I would have placed her elsewhere. read more

came in via ambulance for bronchitis bleeding from the nose or mouth. 3 hours later they looked at me said no liquid in your lungs but we're going to do lung xrays and urinary. all I'm asking for is antibiotics. I think this is the worst hospital I've ever experienced in 63 years of life. its 2:42 and I've been here since 10:30 in the waiting room. if I wasn't having dizzy spells I would have driven myself here but now I don't have a car and I'm stuck. I do not recommend this hospital under any conditions for anything. read more

ER is horrible. I went in by ambulance feeling lifeless with cold sweats and abdominal pain. The nurse left me in there for hours even though I was pale, sweating, and freezing. I had to scream from the top of my lungs because the pain was so severe for anyone to pay attention to me. After my fit doctors and nurse finally came and even the doctor was infuriated that I was sitting for so long looking how I did. Immediately found out I had an ectopic pregnancy, my fallopian tube burst and I was bleeding internally. I lost almost 2 liters of blood by the time I reached surgery. read more
