DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! UPDATE-LICENSE HAS EXPIRED 5/31/17! We hired George Atlas of Atlas Concrete to fix our existing concrete patio and stairs on 10/15/16 at a cost of $6,935 with 1/2 down and the rest when the job was done. He was to pour an additional 4 inches of concrete over existing cracked concrete, apply an Ashley Stone stamped pattern along with an Acorn light color and replace stairs in 2 locations into the house. He began the job on Wednesday, 10/19/16 by texting us a picture of the stairs demo asking for additional funds for the stairs as they were solid concrete and it would take another 1/2 day of labor to completely remove. We agreed to the price change. Concrete was poured on Friday, October 21st. Our house is our retirement home in the near future. We arrived on Sat, Oct 22nd and George Atlas was finishing up. We couldn't get into our backyard and patio area due to the 3 trucks and all equipment from Atlas Concrete. We looked at the finished product from our living windows and were concerned that we couldn't see the entire patio from the backyard. George assured us that if there were any problems with his work that he would immediately take care of it. He also said that we could not walk on it or use it until it was completely dried. We paid him the balance on the signed contract plus an additional $365 labor charge for the stairs for a total of $7,300. On Sunday, October 23rd, we walked into the backyard and saw lots of problems with the stamping. There were boot marks as well as wheelbarrow marks in the concrete throughout the patio. These marks were not seen when we looked the day before from the living room. We immediately called and got a hold of George to complain. He said he would come back out on Sat, Nov 5th to discuss the problems. He said that our concerns with the stamping problems I.e. boot marks and wheelbarrow marks would be solved by removing the concrete sealer and adjusting the color so those marks wouldn't be visible. He said he was hoping to fix it before winter weather set in. That didn't happened. We kept in contact in December 2016, Jan 2017 and again in March 2017. We wanted to make sure that he knew we would not go away. He assured us we were his first job in the spring which would be in late April or beginning of May. That didn't happened. Finally on June 4th after being blown off several times, we got George back to our house to look at all the problems plus 3 NEW HUGE CRACKS across the patio that isn't even 8 months old! We told him the entire patio needed to be removed and replaced after pointing out the all the cracks, boot marks, wheelbarrow marks and shoddy stamping. He agreed to replace. We wanted it done before the 4th of July. That didn't happen. Got a hold of him by phone several times just to hear a myriad of excuses ranging from being sick, delayed on jobs etc. Finally got a text from George saying first full week of August. That didn't happen. Tried to nail down date and time and George texted on Monday, Aug 7th saying Thursday, Aug 10th. He didn't show. We are done contacting George but we will not go away. We have all phone records, paperwork, pictures and texts to pursue all options against this company and owner.

We made the decision to excavate the stump and go with a concrete driveway and for that purpose I contacted a concrete company that had a good name. That person was fine except that I didn't have the impression that he was listening that carefully to me. When the estimate came back it included something that was considerably different from what I asked for. The second company I called was Quality Concrete and Masonry. Bryan Halder came out and my experience with him was entirely different. He is very personable and he is a good listener. He engaged with me so that I could see that he understood what I wanted. When he came back with a quote, not only was it exactly what I wanted, it was also $1000 under the other company. Quality Concrete and Masonry did a wonderful job and we were so pleased with them that I contacted Brian when I decided to use pressed concrete for our patio instead of the tiles that we were thinking of. Again, his quote was reasonable. They came out on time. They were professional and also friendly. They again did a great job and we had absolutely no regrets that we had them do both jobs for us. I have attached some photographs. Our backyard is still a work in progress but in the driveway and patio are near perfect. There's no question that we will call on Brian for any future concrete needs. I recommend him to anybody without reservation.

After removing the damaged sections it turns out a drainage pipe had been crushed under the driveway and water had eroded beneath the garage requiring more extensive work and repair. They were fantastic, very flexible with their original estimate and helped us decide on adjusting the scope of the job to accommodate the additional work needed. Their pricing is extremely fair and reasonable also. They did a beautiful job, the concrete pour was great and they graded everything so that water now drains beautifully where we want it to go and away from the foundation. The entire crew was extremely friendly and conscientious, and they took great care to cover surrounding walls, foundation, etc with plastic so nothing got spattered during the pour. They also cleaned up everything beautifully afterwards, right down to replacing sod along the driveway and landscaping fabric and rocks in a garden area. They also did extensive concrete work for my in-laws who were equally pleased with their work. Highly recommend!
