Again I had to tell them what to order because they denied they could get gates From Eastern fence in NY. So many red flags. I should have used my own installer and had him bill Service company. Marc the owner was very unpleasant to deal with as this wasn't a "big paying job" I was a nuisance to them really. Now 3 months later one of the gates has 2 cracks, one at a sodder joint corner, which is technically a Manufacturing flaw. Marc cannot be bothered to replace or fix because he is too busy with big jobs and I need to be more careful. Ya right, I don't beat on or man handle my equipment. I very much ever regret getting involved with these people.

In the early November windstorm a section blew out. I patched it together and wrote them. They did not respond, so two weeks later I wrote again. They responded that they would be coming up with a "quote" to repair the fence. The fault was an upper member had been cut too short, which was an installation error. I protested and they said they would send someone out to look at the fence. That was a month ago. In the meanwhile, as other windstorms were coming, I wound up screwing a large metal bracket to what should be a nice vinyl fence. They do good initial work but do not support their product.

Matt came out to give me a quote on just a day's notice, all the way in West Hartford. He was the only contractor that really got in and shook the fence which needed repairs. He really wanted to understand the structural problems. He explained everything thoroughly and had an innovative idea for the driveway gate we wanted to put in. Matt was super fast to email me a quote the next day ... Something I appreciated, especially when another West Hartford fence contractor still hasn't responded three weeks later! He was quick to respond to email questions and followed up well. Ultimately, we ended up going with a different contractor due to the slightly decreased cost. This was no fault of Durham Fence Co's. It was essentially a different job which was proposed. The other contractor agreed to use some existing poles we had in use while Matt wanted to ensure they'd be replaced to ensure the quality of the work. Totally makes sense. I will certainly consider hiring Durham Fence in the future.

We purchased the "Max" dog fence from Pet Playgrounds in May 2024, and the experience has been…read morefrustrating from start to finish. The fence arrived in multiple boxes with no instructions and no labeled parts. The only guidance we could find was an online video -- which turned out to be for a different version of the fence. After installing it incorrectly, we were finally told to download a manual online. The instructions for the version we bought were buried at the very end of the document, which forced us to redo a large portion of the work. Even with the manual, the instructions were vague, outdated, and referenced parts that weren't even included. The mesh itself arrived bent, torn, frayed, and full of holes. Within an hour of being in the yard, our Great Pyrenees tore the mesh off the cable and jumped over the 6-foot fence. The gate was crooked and wouldn't close properly. Gripples came loose. Posts wouldn't stay tight. When we contacted the owner, he refused a refund and implied that we caused the damage ourselves. He repeatedly told us a "grandma and granddaughter" installed their fence in a weekend -- which felt condescending and dismissive, especially since we live in a rural area where hiring a handyman isn't realistic. We would not recommend this product to anyone -- especially if you have large dogs or expect real customer support.

I was immediately sent over to the owner and when I told him his website needed some help to work properly so people who are on their phones (90% of the traffic to his website is probably mobile users) he was very dismissive and told me there wasn't anything he could really do. No, "Thank you for telling us" or anything. But he did tell me he'd throw in a free gate for our troubles. I mentioned my husband is a computer programmer and could probably tell him how to fix his site. He said great and my husband called him, spent time creating the bug fix, sent it over to him, and it's September and he still hasn't implemented the fix. My husband says it should have taken him 5 minutes. Fast forward to two weeks ago. I was finally ready to order my fence, so I made the order and added the gate I needed. Before I ordered I reached out to Victor the owner asking how he wanted me to proceed and he said just order it and he'd refund the gate. Absolutely NO restrictions on the gate were ever mentioned or sent to me by text or email. So I added the 8 foot gate I wanted, hit order, and waited. I sent him my order number right away but a week later hadn't heard a peep so I reached out again. He then said that they usually only do discounts on 200 foot fences not 150 like I had ordered, and that usually it's only on the 5' gate. With some back and forth he agreed to refund me $350 for the $420 gate. Today I got a text from him saying he's cancelling my order and refunding me because to ship this to me would COST THEM MONEY. I'm absolutely floored. I have spent months planning for this, saving for it, and going back and forth with them. If shipping would cost so much, what was the $149 I paid SHIPPING FEES for? If the cost of your kits has recently gone up, why did your website allow me to order it at that price??? This has been the WORST customer service and the most disappointing business practice I have ever seen. The good news is this: Deerbusters sell dog fence kits which are comparable to the pet playgrounds ones (I'm sure he'd disagree but whatever), so I spent a few hours this morning re planning it all out and price comparing all around and decided on the dog fence kit from Deerbusters. I called them and they were very helpful. Oh, and their website works great.

For $20k, he quoted enclosing the entire 1/3 acre with a motorized gate for the driveway. 1/3 payment due at signing, 1/3 when the job began, and final payment due upon completion. He quoted 3-4 weeks. Over the course of nearly TWO (2) YEARS, Eli showed up 5 times. His hired hands showed up 10 times working an average of 3-4 hours each time. The fence itself is completely uneven, falls apart, and could have been done by anyone. Definitely not worth $20k. The gate was never completed. The refund was never completed. My fencing arrived on a pallet with another order. He showed up to get the other fencing and didn't show up to start until I called two weeks later. I suspect to get the second payment so that he could buy materials for another job he had already spent the money for materials for. I had to call to get them to come out each visit. He would always make it sound like he was already planning to come if I had just been a little more patient. He made excuses like "It's my weekend with the kids", but it couldn't have been his time with the kids every hour for the past 2-3 months between calls. Completely unprofessional. When I asked for a refund for the incomplete gate, he said he didn't have the money and could refund bit by bit. He even said my fencing required more than originally quoted, but I looked at my quote and counted the fence and it came out less than quoted. So this sounded like a blanket excuse he had used for other clients when asked about the exorbitant costs. For a year, he refunded bit by bit until he got tired of it and simply stopped responding to calls or texts. One of our last interchanges, he was quite rude because he was already a month late making a refund payment and I called him. I was informed by one of his hired hands that he had never even installed a motorized driveway gate before. Apparently not a normal gate either since they are so poorly put together that I can only open one a foot and a half and the other one is barely hanging closed. DO NOT HIRE ELI OR BUDGET FENCING NO MATTER WHAT. Do not trust him with your money. Do not trust him with your property. Do not trust anything he says. He is incompetent and wholly incapable of completing anything.
