The air in Santa Fe is fabulous and one a 2 seated open air, human powered tricycle this is the only way to go. I stopped by one and struck up a conversation with 71 year old peddle/driver, Pete, by asking if Pedicab was hiring. Great guy, originally from the NYC area and transplanted to Santa Fe only one years ago. His knowledge of the area, rich history, and it's people was most impressive. We talked for roughly 20 minutes and his vim and vigor for life, health, and continued gathering of knowledge was inspiring. Imagine, 71, yes a former biker & runner, but able to a 21 geared tricycle with as much as 350-600 pounds of cargo is jaw dropping. Remember, when you accept a ride, please, generously tip these bubbly tourist driven enthusiasts.

Once I checked out of my hotel, I needed to kill some time before I got on the Rail Runner train. I had seen a colorful Pedicab earlier when I took the city tour and it looked like fun. So after that tour and a visit to the Crepes Shop nearby, I was feeling pretty good but not like I wanted to hike all the way down to the Santa Fe Depot for the train. That's when I saw a blond guy sitting in a Pedicab parked in Santa Fe Plaza. I asked him how much he charged and it was one dollar per minute, That seemed affordable so I hopped on. Soon we were passing through the beautiful Plaza and on our way through the Railyard District. It was so nice taking in all the sights from an open air carriage. The driver was nice enough to stop while I admired and took pictures of a church with a lovely rose garden. Soon enough, we had arrived at the Depot and the ride was only $12. The driver had used his little step stool to help me get down and forget to take it when he left. So I called the Pedicab office and told them I was leaving his step stool with the Tourist Info office there. The gentleman did come back to fetch his step stool. This company does an excellent job, hire wholesome, honest-looking drivers and give visitors a fresh air way of enjoying the sights. According to their website, they also do "tours of Canyon Road Galleries (many of the drivers are artists), the Railyard District, and tours of nightlife hotspots (some of the drivers specialize in nightlife). Tours can be of any length you choose." Santa Fe Pedicab operates from 9 am to 10 pm seven days a week from May to November. Call for a reservation or ask your concierge to make arrangements. Usually there is a Pedicab somewhere around the Plaza area, which is where I found mine. 5 YELP STARS for environmentally-friendly pedal power in beautiful Santa Fe.

I booked and paid the non-refundable fare on June 2, 2024 for service date of July 28, 2024 for my elderly parents. (91 and 89). On the evening of July 25, I received an email from the limo owner Deanna Ballard stating that they could not provide the service at the quoted price. She said the trip cost is now $1,500! With only a couple of days notice, I was unable to hire anyone and ended up driving them to Santa Fe. It was 630 miles roundtrip. When I asked her about the substantial difference the quote and the actual price, Deanna stated that her website gave an inaccurate quote. I asked why they didn't reach out in the beginning of June, so we could make other arrangements, she had no answer. I was curious, so I requoted the exact fare on her website https://wtmllc.com The fare came up as $348. I called her back and asked about the fare, and she said it will still be $1,500 and that she had a client in a similar emergency situation and also charged them $1500 for their fare. Do not trust the quote you receive, it is a "Bait and Switch". At the last minute they will cancel your limo unless you pay the jacked up price. There's a bike shop also next-door which I thought was a good idea for alternate transportation in the area. Santa Fe is such a fascinating city discovering new treasures at every turn. If you like trains which I do and you want any information on Santa Fe stop by the visitor center and check out the extraordinary selection of information options that Eric has available. One thing I would recommend however is that they install complementary Internet. While we were waiting for our friends my wife wanted to book dining reservations online, AT&T had a terrible connection. Unfortunately, a big sign noted that there were no public restrooms available, although I did see the employee give a key to one man who got to use the bathroom facilities there. Because this info center seems kind of smallish and caters to mainly train travelers coming or going, I had to knock off 1 YELP STAR. I wish it had some public restrooms that people sitting around and waiting for the Rail Runner could utilize.

Right? So, I haven't been to enough New Mexico fishing lakes to provide an honest assessment. Having that written, it's a nice little lake. Not horrendously far from us city folk in Albuquerque. It has camping spots and is just as accommodating for day use folk as it is for campers. Rather small though, and for the curious, no motorized craft allowed. Just canoes and little blow up guys out there. We went on Father's Day, arrived at about 0730 and we were still hard pressed to lay claim to a good spot. However, by the time we rolled at noon, insane infestation of humans crawling all over, under, and beside one another for a place to cast their line. In fact, as we drove out the forest rangers had the entrance blocked off. It was 100% full! What did that do for the fish catching odds? It ruined it! Or, maybe I'm just a lousy fisherman, IDK. In any case, it wasn't the best day to land that big one. But you know what they say, a bad day of fishing beats a good day at work every time! Give 'em a go, I think you be pleased. Cheers!

OK, so the campsite itself is actually really good option and very affordable for camping in the…read moreJemez area. The campsite has access to a number of trailhead, including the main trailhead to Jemez Falls and a few of the Hot Springs in the area. During the colder months, they keep the gates closed, so people walk the road to where the trailhead starts. Even in April, where most of the snow has melted they still have the gates closed, and the campsite is not monitored. It really sucks because that extra is not super fun and might kill a little bit of your energy for doing one of the hikes. The Falls Trail is a rather short one but watch out for rock and pinecones. I don't think the Falls are worth a much longer hike. They're pretty small. I really wish they would leave just the access to the Falls open during the day even when the campgrounds themselves are closed. But again at the end of the day, it's free, its nature and definitely worth enjoying. On the camping side of things there is a website and you can make reservations really easily.
