The driver arrived with a horrible attitude and little desire to do any work. I'm not even sure why this driver even bothered to show up considering he had not intention of saying or doing anything. I escalated the matter to the the office staff of Katy Christian Ministries and did not receive a return phone call or a reply to my email. This is how they treat somebody trying to donate high quality furniture that they can easily resell for a PROFIT!! These people are NOT good Christians; they are SCUM. I highly recommend reaching out to the following organizations are opposed to KCM as they are actually kind and appreciative people: 1. Habitat for Humanity 2. Vietnam Veterans of America 3. Salvation Army

My…read morefriend initially signed up when she came on a random weekday and they gave her a card which showed her the dates she could come every month. As it is a once a month service for weekdays and then once a month on a weekend. So essentially you could ultimately come twice within a month. From our numerous food pantry visits, we've determined that this is one of the best ones in the area. Memorial presbyterian and fair haven being another one as they give you a quite a large amount of food compared to other places. Sometimes you're even lucky and you get quite a bit of meat along with fruits and vegetables. They even provide pet food! I thought that was super cool. Yet I will say that every time we have come here, they are generous. It does vary so that is that but still a better option then places such as HACS which hardly gives you anything after your initial appointment. I do think at the current moment, they are not taking new applicants, however, it is worth it to call and speak with the manager about it. I want to say her name is Heather, however, I could be wrong. Especially right now in this economy, any type of assistance and support is greatly appreciative. I will say never feel ashamed to seek assistance when needed. As so much food waste occurs daily in the US. The process is all done from the comfort of your car so no need to get out. I would advise getting there an hour or two before opening as the lines form quick. Especially right now with it being summertime and people having to feed their children more. Therefore lines have been extremely long everywhere in the city. Nonetheless, when you think about overall giving back this place is spot on with assisting the community. As you do not need to go and sit inside of a building with many people waiting to be served which could cause exposures to God knows what type of germs. Although, if you don't have a car they also offer walk up assistance. Not as much food given BUT it's better than nothing, right?! I would be mindful in checking your items before taking it in the house as I will admit that one time there was a mini German roach inside of a semi wet/damp box. It likely was attracted to the water part of it because outside of that we have never had that issue before. Also thankfully my friend noticed it and quickly killed it!

They pretty much cater to Hispanic people by the food they give out. The wait time today was 21/2 hours. You are parked on the side of the street with a heavy flow of traffic. There is security officers directing the traffic at times. I just think it's very dangerous for the people. I must say the food given out today was in somewhat of good condition. I did take photos of what was given out. Giving roses to the people were a good gesture for waiting so long. This is only in reference of the food distribution not the resale shop. Hanks everyone that has helped the people make it another day with food for their family.
