I went to Hal Martin's specifically for their Rolex reputation and explained that I wanted a thorough inspection and appraisal of an unusual vintage Rolex, with documentation to remain with the watch as part of its provenance. Tarang acknowledged that it was a vintage watch and never indicated that it was outside their expertise. Because they didn't have the proper tool to open the caseback, he sent me to Swiss Chronometers, referring to them as "my mechanical workshop." I followed his instructions, paid $216.50 for the inspection, and returned to Hal Martin's expecting the appraisal and documentation we had discussed. The process then became frustratingly disorganized. Photos and information I sent to Hal were not passed to Jonathan, so I repeatedly had to explain the situation. I also learned that the inspection report I expected would not be provided. Jonathan ultimately questioned the watch's authenticity because of its unusual 6636/6627 reference combination and suggested I take it to Rolex. I respect an appraiser's right to reach a different professional opinion. My issue is that I specifically sought their expertise before spending money. Had Tarang told me upfront that this vintage Rolex was beyond their experience, I would have gone directly to a specialist. I contacted Hal to resolve the matter privately. After one brief response, I explained the situation and followed up, but received no further reply. For a business dealing in high-value watches, the repeated breakdowns in internal communication, unmet commitments, and lack of follow-through from the owner showed a level of professionalism far below what I expected. This experience left me with no confidence in Hal Martin's, and I would not trust them with any of my watches in the future.

The attitudes we get everytime we're here is astonishing. Especially from Gigi - who was the original sales person. It's ridiculous. Everytime we've come in since original purchase is we're told there was no original purchase even though the original sales person remembers. Their system can't find the order. Then can magically find some details under my name which makes no sense because it was a surprise engagement. My ring got resized recently (my husband was told at sales time lifetime resizing - but they declined this and advised it was full price. They eventually wavered and gave it to us at no cost which I did appreciate) and I realized after a few days I picked it up that there was a massive gap on one side that I hand noticed before. So I brought it back in. Of course I get an attitude about it. The First lady told me that it was my fault there was a chip on it. Then she took it to the jeweler who stated he's NEVER touched my ring ever in his life. Again, we bought it here, have had it resized once before this resuzing and then it had been resized a week prior to this interaction. Long story short - Mary (who is the most helpful person in this store) said she would take care of it. Would be completely redone. They called us and let us know it was completed. All better. I go in and it's almost exactly the same. Barely any different at all. They take us back to the jeweler who tells us that it's the head is crooked and the only way to resolve would be to get a whole new head. At their expense. Great, let's get this taken care of. I even at this point offered another solution where we would take on some of the cost and maybe upgrade the ring. We were told we would get a quote by the end of the day. We left again and less than 2-3 hours later we get a text with a video sayings it's completely fixed and resolved and we can come pick up the ring. No quote. Here we are again, at the store right now and it's still imperfect which I'm just at this point going to settle for because I'm so massively over this place and the customer service we've received.
