I had a rodent problem in my attic. Attic Construction removed all my old thin insulation, heavy vacuumed rodent waste and dust. Next removed small amount of asbestos ducts. Next removed all ducting. Covered attic holes (to prevent rats from returning) with galvanized steel mesh and/or expanding foam which hardens. Sprayed sanitation disinfectant (removes any odor). Had an LA co install efficient largely suspended ducting. Finally did light vacuuming, sanitized and Insulated floor with blown in 13" to 14" R38 material. Installed R19 batting on all vertical surfaces. They did an outstanding overall job, especially covering all the rat holes. read more

I found Attic Construction from Google searching, after I had one of the large local (LA) Rodent infestation companies look at our issue. One phone call and Darren came out the following day. He diagnosed our problem thoroughly which was much less serious than we had been lead to believe by the "other" company. Our problem had been mice (not rats), and they had not infested the attic. The other company showed us photos of huge wall cracks and rat droppings in the attic, which do not exist. Darren identified points of entry that the mice have been using, through a laundry duct with mouse droppings nearby on a balcony and through removed drywalls from flood damage in the garage. He charged us nothing for his time and is providing a written report at no charge. The "other" company charged us an inspection fee of $175, producing fake photos of wall cracks and rat droppings. Their estimate for their fake job was so insanely high, I do not want to repeat it here for fear of legal issues. My old two story stucco home was just always too hot even with a newer AC unit. Figured it was time to have the attic cleaned and reinsulated, had not been touched since home was originally built in the 60's that I knew of. Of the four bids, Darren was the only rep who suited up and went through my whole attic, the other reps just poked their head through the access with a flashlight. Darren took photos and was able to show me all the issues. At best there was 6 inches of deteriorated cellulose, bare spots, and some gaps where light was shining through. Also a lot of debris from the previous roof replacement. The attic was all cleaned out, sanitized and rodent proofed. 18 inches of insulation applied, gaps filled and photos of work completion as the job went along. I also had a few west facing walls insulated. The drywall guy showed up the next day to patch and even cleaned up a few corners for me at no extra charge. What a difference in how my house felt and the AC efficiency. We all know how hot it has been this summer. My electric bill was also $45 less last billing cycle! Be prepared for an all day job. My attic took just a bit longer because of all the roof debris inside. Insulation can be a little messy, but the crew works hard and CLEAN! It was 100+ degrees the day my attic was done. This is an initial review in the middle of my project. Had several quotes from various HVAC companies to remove old rodent infested insulation, clean sanitize and seal the Attic and blown in new R38 insulation. I am also having all my old ducts replaced with new R6. Stephan is the GM for the OC operation (they are based in San Diego) and he provided the quote. His quote was very reasonable and not the cheapest, but not crazy expensive like Home Comfort and Attica Green. I went with Attic Construction because they are focused on addressing the rodent issue and Stephan is very direct, professional, responsive and easy to work with. His crew for the job, two Techs and himself showed up on time and did everything as expected. I also went with Attic Construction because he would change my ducts out as part of the process and in a reasonable manner. I received quotes from six companies for this project, but Stephan was the only one that did not try to oversell or bamboozle me with nonsense, like the Attica salesperson saying because I had Batt and Blown in insulation he would need two separate crews for removal. Stephan is very easy to work with and is professional. If you are primarily dealing with an insulation or rodent issue, I would definitely recommend reaching out to these guys. They are not HVAC people, but do partner with another. I still have to finish the job getting the new R38 in, but we stopped for few days to make sure the rodent issue is solved. I would continue to give them 5 stars if we solve the rodent issue and the blown in is done as promised and I have the necessary access in the Attic that I need. Wanted to update this review when the work was completed. Stephan and his team, Mika, Ismael, Frankie and Gilbert all returned a couple weeks lated to put in the insulation, giving me time to make sure there was no return of the rodents (and they tried as I could hear them in the walls trying to get back in) and to resave some HVAC issues. Stephan and his team went above and beyond helping me resolve some duct issues and other ventilation issues in my garage. They made sure my attic was cleaned up, can lights and speakers were isolated and then put Batt and Blown in insulation as agreed. They did a great job prepping and cleaning up. Gilbert is a great addition to the team as he very broadly skilled and helped with some patching and repairs. Again I was very impressed with their professionalism, showing up on time as planned and going above and beyond to help me at a very fair price. I would highly recommend that if you don't need HVAC work, but attic cleanup, rodent proofing and insulation, and maybe even some duct repairs, these guys are a great choice. After about four bids from the big brandnames out their, who all gave me super inflated prices and all tried to sell be new HVAC units 14-23K, that I did not need, I am very happy I found the OC Attic Construction group. They are a young team but full of energy and do work as a team. P.S. On a side note...one of those big brand names, during the bidding, even bled my system of refrigerant to render my system inoperable just so they can claim I needed a new HVAC system(my system was working fine before they "looked it over"). Fortunately my neighbor put me in touch with a trustworthy person who discovered my system was low on refrigerant because someone bled it out, recharged it and now with repaired ducts and new refrigerant my system is running good as ever (I spent $700 in repairs (all new ducts and refrigerant, plus leak stop just in case) versus the 14-23K I was being quoted). Moral of the story....be very careful who you allow to touch your system and know that 95% of the time you just need your system repaired by someone trustworthy (not serviced....that is also a scam), not replaced. read more

I called out several companies to give me a quote and these guys were right in the middle upfront with all potential costs and issues. Although I ended up spending a little more money I feel like the job was done right. They brought in two different professionals to do a couple of different things one was asbestos removal and one was to update the ducks that were removed due to asbestos. I even confirmed this with my HVAC guy that I used prior to this and he said that at some point you should have them removed. So these guys are honest and upfront and the process for my particular attic was very difficult because I just replace my roof but these guys worked extra hard and got the whole job done in a day which was waymore than I expected also the general manager made it a point to meet me in person and I appreciated that and was there and making sure the job was done well what a bonus. Just don't see that kind of service from any companies anymore so if you're looking to get your attic insulation redone and all the junk removed they'll do it right. read more

After years of hearing activity in my attic on and off I decided to get it taken care of. Darren did the initial inspection and it was very thorough and he showed me the photos (date and time stamped.). Yesterday Kevin, Jesse and Andrew came to get the process started. I opted to have all the insulation removed and have the rodent access points closed up and the attic vacuumed and cleaned. I'm so glad I did...it really needed it after 30 years.
