UPDATE: The regional manger gave us a full refund and in person apology for how this was handled. With that said, several people reported my review as being false, which it 100% was not, and I don't appreciate being threatened by Yelp with a potential lawsuit for leaving an honest review. Several other reviews have stated that Nathan Jones lied to them to get them to sign the contract, so if he is still employed by the company and is the one that comes out to your home, that means they didn't let him go for repeatedly lying. Mr. Nathan Jones lied about the scope of the job to get us to sign the contract, pretended his computer had died so he had to have us sign the contract on a small tablet/ phone which is a common method they use to make sure you can't read the fine print, and they told us they could use a disinfectant appropriate for immunocompromised individuals but when the office was contacted to confirm told us that immunocompromised individuals should not use their company because they didn't use chemicals that were safe. The reason they have so many positive reviews is because they discount the price if you review them prior to them starting the job. They charged us $10,000 for a job that took 15 work hours for a single employee, and when I asked them why they were charging so much for a simple job prior to signing they assured us it was a BIG job that would require a whole team for four full work days. He committed fraud and poisoned our family causing worsening of health issues. read more

Setting up an appointment for an estimate was easy and their scheduling system is professional. Our technician, Ricky, was great. He was on time, thorough, respectful, and did not pressure us into any services. My issue is with their pricing policy. We received our first estimate with every possible service on it including attic cleaning, sanitizing, rodent proofing, insulation, and even asbestos abatement. We decided we didn't want to do insulation at this time, so we asked them to take that off of the estimate. We received a second estimate and all of the services INCREASED in price from $100-500 PER SERVICE. They gave us a "12% discount" for potentially scheduling next day to fill a cancellation, but the second price WITH the discount ended up being about $500 more than the initial estimate WITHOUT the discount. When we asked about this, they said it was just the company's policy to increase prices if less services are done. I was told during the initial walk-through that any services we did not want to do at this time could simply be deducted from the total. We were not told that any services we subtracted would increase all of the other services by hundreds of dollars. We decided immediately after receiving the second estimate not to proceed with this company. **IN SUMMARY: If you choose not to do every service they quote you for, all of the other prices will increase $100-500 PER item.** read more

After scheduling three weeks out, they showed up to do the job, then walked off the site, saying they wouldn't cut a ceiling joist. Not only was this disclosed to the rep who gave the estimate, it was described as work they do all the time, and it was also described in the contract that they wrote, that I signed. Don't believe me? See the pictures yourself. After calling the main office to figure out what was going on, I was told a supervisor would call me to discuss. Nobody called. We had an excellent experience with Attic Projects coming out to inspect our new home purchase. Feels odd saying new since nothing had been done to it in over 20 years but hey, it is what it is. Brian Rayburn came out and looked over everything, initially just on a call to give me a quote on the ladder. He was super friendly and professional and made sure our house stayed clean while he did his inspection. He did a thorough inspection didn't find anything and there was no possibility of installing a ladder in the house, but that was a huge positive on it's own- he didn't try to upsell me on anything I didn't need and I felt I truely got an honest inspection. He went in our attic and discovered a rodent problem by the pics he took of their burrowing and droppings. We decided upon his explanation of what Attic projects would do from start to finish. Removing all old insulation, sanitizing attic and setting traps. They then sealed all entry points from rodents. The crew was very professional on what they needed to do. I recently worked with Attic Projects, and I'm really happy with how everything turned out. I first met with Vincent, who was super friendly and took the time to explain the entire process. I had noticed some rodents in the attic, but my biggest concern was the high electric bill, which was averaging about $500 a month. Vincent explained all the services they offer and how they could help. He also mentioned that because they're a licensed partner with Southern California Edison, I might be able to get rebates from SCE--and possibly even from the federal government, which was a nice surprise. I had a similar experience to Ariana F. from Torrance. We met Brian Rayburn at the Pasadena home show - I didn't realize they were based in Orange. Nevertheless, Brian came out and did a 2.5-hour inspection then provided us with an estimate which included services we did not ask for but were essentially told they would not re-insulate the attic if we did not also hire them to do the crawl space. In addition, the estimate included line items for "active rodent infestation" necessitating an additional inspection. We are aware that we had rodents in the past and cleaning out the droppings was part of our request, but the infestation is not active, which we discussed with Brian. We received an estimate that was way more than we were expecting for this project and when I let Brian know that we would be going with a different company, his texts became rude. Since we didn't actually hire the company to do work for us, I would not have written a review if not for that bit of unprofessionalism. We've had animals living in our crawl space on and off for years--skunks, rats, raccoons, and possums. Recently, neighbors told us that skunks have been digging up front yards looking for food, and we often hear them rumbling around under our house at 4-5 a.m. The rats are the worst, walking along the copper water pipes and making noise around the clock. My wife and I were very nervous at the beginning of this process because of the cost and the number of issues that needed to be resolved. A friend referred us to Attic Projects, and Eli was the salesperson who first met with us. He was on time and very cordial. We were pleasantly surprised that after his initial introduction and explanation of the company, he immediately put on his overalls and spent about 45 minutes under the house taking pictures and gathering information for the quote. When he finished, he showed us photos of issues we didn't even know we had such as mold, animal droppings, excessive moisture, and more. Although the quote was higher than we expected, the problems Eli found made it clear that the work was necessary and worth the investment. A week later, the first crew arrived and cleaned out the crawl space, taking care of all the mold. They vacuumed the entire area to remove animal droppings and debris. Over the next two days, they lined the entire crawl space with a plastic vapor barrier that extends up every wall, leaving only the plastic liner and the underside of the floor visible. They also reinforced all exterior openings and sealed off any access points into the house. We have two large crawl-space entry points, and Attic Projects installed secure doors on both so animals cannot get back in. Overall, my wife and I are extremely pleased with Attic Projects! They were professional, punctual, and communicated with us consistently. A few minor issues came up during the process (as they do with any project), but Attic Projects addressed them immediately. I went with attic projects due to all the amazing reviews but the service I received was honestly less than satisfactory. Matthew was great at the initial consultation. Pricing was a bit high but we went with it because we thought he explained everything very well. He said that they would cover everything up at the time they were here to work on the project. This didn't seem to be the case because I found scratches all over my staircase. The room was also undergoing flooring remodeling at the time and they ripped off a piece of insulation on the ground. Maybe it was because we weren't at home to watch them work so they got lazy. We ended up having to cover up the floor and staircase ourselves to prevent further damage. It was only AFTER we covered things up that they started to cover up the floor. On top of that they left a jacket hanging on the staircase and never claimed it or explained what it was about. The next issue that happened was that they blew several fuses in our home but didn't bother to even tell us. We found out about it when things didn't work. We eventually got refunded to get it fixed but it took multiple attempts to reach out to Brenda to get it resolved. They also mentioned that we could get photos of the completed project. I reached out to Brenda multiple times and asked for the photos. To this day I never received them and have pretty much given up on getting them. Overall I was very disappointed with the communication from Brenda. I don't know what the discrepancy is here but my experience is way off from what other reviewers mentioned. There was so much lack of communication going on. They never gave us updates on what was going on and what they did on the day they were here. We were only notified that the project was done when they sent us an invoice and said that it had to be paid same day. There was a crew member that had to come over and inspect the place and he was courteous. We hired Attic Projects after receiving a bid from Brandon, for new insulation and rodent clean up. The bid was higher than other companies. We decided to go with them because Brandon assured us that their team would match certain items (like using a HEPA industrial vacuum) and deliver a higher level of expertise. Unfortunately, that's not what we experienced. 1. Lack of follow-through and supervision Once the project began, we never heard from Brandon again. He turned out to be purely a salesman -- not someone who oversees or checks up on the job. He also did not communicate the agreed upon requests to the workers to have the Heppa vaccum on site before cleaning the rodent droppings in the attic. 2. Safety and training concerns From day one, I made it clear that safety was our top priority since we have a toddler in the house. However, the crew did not appear properly trained in handling hazardous materials like rodent droppings. Even though our contract included use of a HEPA vacuum in the attic, they showed up without one and cleaned the droppings using standard equipment. Their excuses was, well we thought a Heppa filter was the same as a Heppa commercial grade vaccum. This is unacceptable that someone who claims they have been doing this for 20 years doesn't know the difference. This was also the first time the company ever rented such a vaccum. When I asked if they could vacuum inside the home, they used a commercial vacuum with no seal, which can spread contaminated particles into the air. I later confirmed this was unsafe and not compliant with proper bio-cleaning procedures. And I asked them before they did it, and he said it was totally safe and fine. Which was not true further exposing my toddler to bacteria from rodent droppings. He then said after oh I have a hepa filter in the car after the fact. We had to go through the hassle of re cleaning our ducts to take extra pre-caution and had to hire a professional cleaning crew. 3. Poor cleanup quality After the first cleanup, their inspector claimed everything was spotless. I told the guy If he can please double check since I noticed they were not very thorough on the outside and he assured me everything was spotless. My husband went up to check -- and immediately found droppings at the attic hatch and throughout the attic. Attic Projects did send a third crew, and this technician Noah was extremely thorough and professional, filling an entire trash bag with droppings that were missed the first time. He even went above and beyond by cleaning the garage area, which we appreciated. Still, the amount missed during the first cleaning was unacceptable. 4. Misrepresentation of duct work expertise Brandon also claimed they handled duct mapping and replacement, which influenced our decision to hire them. However, we later learned from a licensed HVAC company that they installed the wrong duct size. Attic Projects said they "replaced it like for like," but that's not what was promised during the estimate. They are not HVAC specialists, despite what was implied. 5. Sanitation steps was also not properly understood. They didn't realize there is different sanitation for rat droppings and rodent droppings which I had to inform them about. They had to get special sanitation for the project. 6. Resolution To their credit, the company did offer a discount and sent a better crew to make things right. They sent their supervisor George who was kind and straightforward to manage the crew. However, this experience was stressful with a toddler and I constantly had to research proper procedures myself to ensure our family's safety -- something I shouldn't have had to do after paying a premium for expertise. In short, Attic Projects made an effort to fix their mistakes, but the lack of training, poor communication, and unsafe cleaning practices were disappointing. I would urge future customers to take photos of the equipment before work is done and make sure you are getting what you paid for, and verify the crew's qualifications before work begins. Because it appears they were just paying standard handyman with not much experience of rodent care to do the work. And had I not ask the right questions I would have never know they didn't use a heppa industrial grade vaccum as was agreed upon. And had my husband not gone and checked himself, their would have still been rodent droppings under our new installation We will see how the next 10 years goes with warranty treatment. read more
