So I just had insulation installed in my mom's house in El Cajon by Abraham & Nith from Attic Heroes. These guys were great! They are a couple of no nonsense type of workers. As soon as they got here they went to work. They were very meticulous, laid out a path with thick paper where they were going to be walking, then they used plastic to protect the walls in the hallway where the entrance to the attic is. They installed the insulation, cleaned up after themselves & even vacuumed the area they used to walk through. These guys were efficient & very courteous. 144 reviews, every one of them 5 star? Hard to believe, right? But there's a good reason: they do great work, at a reasonable price, and they treat people fairly. Our house was built around 1969. The attic has eaves, with vents. The mesh covers of several vents had disintegrated, presumably because of age, so we wanted them replaced (mainly to prevent rodent / bird entry). We also wanted the attic insulation checked out. Got three companies in to give estimates. They all noted that the insulation was old, probably original, and needed replaced. One company was very expensive, the other two (including Attic Heroes) were more reasonable, and similar in price. We went with Attic Heroes, mainly because Matthew (who came to give the quote) seemed to know his stuff. BTW, they were the only one of the 3 companies that didn't require a down payment. You pay when the job's done. On the day of the job, a crew of 4 turned up on time. All were very friendly. Wore masks, paper suits, and bootees. Taped down paper to protect our floors. The job took about 7 hours. They replaced all of the vent covers, removed the old insulation, sprayed a sterilizing agent, sealed cracks/joints with caulk, and installed the new insulation. They cleaned up nicely. I paid them. Fidel sent us "before and after" photos of the attic. We were very pleased that we'd chosen them. Here's why I wrote, above, that they treat people fairly. Our ceilings are covered with a skim-coat of plaster. A couple of days after they'd left, my wife went into a bedroom that we don't use much - and saw a fairly short, but very visible, crack in the ceiling plaster. We knew it was fresh, because one of the drywall nails was visible (pushed down about 1/4 inch), and a small bit of the plaster skim had been displaced by the nail head, and was lying on the bed. We were pretty certain that the crack must have happened during the attic work. I was a bit worried that Attic Heroes might decline to repair it, because we hadn't pointed it out before they left. But I contacted Fidel - and he immediately arranged to have a drywall guy come to repair it, no charge. They guy has just left - the ceiling looks absolutely perfect. This is a great company. These guys knock it out of the park. On time and best price presented from 2 bids. We discussed the best way to handle the area around our in attic furnace and the opening and they put down batting vs blowing in those areas. They also adding batting in the area around the whole house fan so as to not "blow" the other insulation around when that is running. They also noted and repaired at no cost the two bathroom fan ducts that were missing post construction. Cleaned up and no trace that they were blowing fiberglass around at all. I contacted Attic Heroes based on the positive Yelp reviews and I'm so happy to share that we also had a stellar experience with them! Matthew, who is one of the co-owners I believe, was the one who came to our home to provide the initial quote, and then he stayed part of it the entire time supervising the actual on-site work. We purchased a new home where the attic was infested with rat poop. :-O Based on what the home inspector told us we thought we couldn't do more than just clean out the attic because anything further would be cost-prohibitive. Thankfully, Attic Heroes is reasonable, honest and they follow through. Matthew completely understood our needs and limitations and gave us a few options, and in the end, we were able to get the attic cleaned, prevent future rodent ingress, remove the current dirty insulation and add all new insulation, plus removed and replaced the air ducts, all for a reasonable cost that would not break the bank. Had the company come in and put new installation in my attic, since it has been over 40+ years since it's been done. The team of three came in and in one day and cleaned out the old stuff, and shot new stuff in up to 13 inches. They covered all the vents with new screening ,and were done with the entire job in about six hours. My entrance to the attic was in the middle of the house and they screened and covered the travel area with paper and plastic. Felt sorry for the one guy who spent most of the day up in the attic fully suited up removing and installing. They did a great job and I would highly recommend them! This team was solid! We've had a lot of hot summers in this old home. Our insulation was basically gone. Found Attic Heroes online and met with Matthew for an estimate; he gave us the rundown with some options, let us know the benefits of the insulation types, etc. That was Friday. We scheduled for Monday, and a full team was at our house on time at 8:30, with a clean and sealed path from the door to the attic. Wow! They were very thoughtful and professional from the get-go. Edgar gave us a general itinerary for the day so we knew what to expect. They spent the first few hours cleaning and vacuuming out the attic's old insulation, some leftover mouse traps from previous owners, and the remnants of years of a dirty attic. Thank you! They had me take a look up top to show me that they had cleaned it all out. It looked great from the attic entrance, and they were still working in the corners, paying attention to the details. I contacted five companies for radiant barrier installation in my attic to keep it cooler in the summer months. Two companies' quotes were very high and for work that was not needed. Matthew came on 5/20/2022 and provided me with the best quote. He was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and no pressure. He mentioned they had an opening on 5/23/22 and he could get me a discounted price. I already had the materials, so the work was for installation labor. Three guys arrive around 9:30 am and installed the barrier in about 4 hours. They were through and ask for me to check out their work afterward. The previous owners left the attic without much cleanup after a rat infestation and it was a disaster up there. I reached out to a few companies and attic heroes was one of the most prompt and their price point was one of the lowest. Matthew who came out for the inspection to give the original quote gave us his assessment, wasn't pushy at all, and left his number for us to follow up with. After moving forward with attic heroes, they gave us several options for when they could come in for work. What was nice was they had a Saturday option which was what we needed as my husband and I are working from home currently. The day of, Tony gave us a call and gave us updates on when he and his crew would arrive. During the cleanup, sanitation, and install process, one of the crew members would give us updates when they had a chance. Tony and his crew were understanding and paused to explain what they were doing whenever we had questions. They were also extremely thorough with their rat proofing and took photos for us of all of the work (which they included in the receipt email). We had a very nasty and dirty attic, no one cleaned that for over 40 years, all the air ducks were smashed and needed to be replaced. Our insulation in the attic was 50 yrs old and we needed help. After reading all the reviews about Attic Heroes we scheduled a free estimate. Mathew came the next day, inspected both the attic of the house and the garage. He took time to discuss what I wanted and what they do. They do a more complete job than I would have even know to ask for. I received the job estimate the next morning via email. Agreed to it, and scheduled the work 4 days later. Tony called this morning, Tuesday 1/10/23 to let me know they would arrive within 35 minutes. Tony, Edgar, Oscar and Abraham all arrived on time (8:40am) and went to work. They laid plastic everywhere needed but even went further and constructed plastic tunnels for them and the equipment to travel through. It is 2:15 pm, the house and yard are clean, I was invited to inspect both attics at clean out, sterilization and after the new insulation was installed. Called to get an estimate for removal, seal and blow in new insulation at a rental. Spoke to Mathew and he said he was available same day for appointment. Set the appointment but my tenant had something come up so I asked Mathew if we could keep the time slot but come to my house for estimate on adding I insulation. He came over right on time and did the inspection. Mathew said there was not anything he could do to improve my insulation since what I had was as good as it gets. He didn't try to recommend anything unnecessary and was honest about the situation. To me that gets 5 stars. I described the situation at rental property and provided pros and cons of complete removal. Provided me a ball park estimate for both and recommended I just add additional insulation on top. The thing to know about Fidel and his crew is they care about your home and your comfort with the job. There's no pressure or up-selling during the job like some others will do. Because they work as a small crew for all their jobs you really get more than what you'd pay for from other companies that routinely hire replacement workers. I've previously had companies show up with one experienced guy and the rest are same-day hires stumbling around. These guys always work together and complement each other's strengths, which results in you getting a lot of experience in one place during the job. Because of this, I recommend hiring them sooner rather than later because there will either be longer wait times to book them or their prices will go up. Either way, it'll be worth it. They did a great job cleaning out my attic to my satisfaction. I'm picky and went up into the attic to inspect the work, and they didn't hesitate to address anything I pointed out and, in fact, were pretty much ahead of me on anything I would have asked them to take care of. I own an older home, and it needed to get all new ducts and insulation. Also, I was having a rat issue as well. I received four quotes from different companies and decided to go with Attic Heroes due to recommendations from a few neighbors. It wasn't the cheapest from all four quotes, but the service was outstanding. Fidel, Tony, and crew went out of their way to clean, disinfect, and rodent proof of the attic. The addition of insulation and ducts was done correctly, and after checking the attic, I did not find any missing areas that did not have insulation. Once they were done, two rat traps were left in the attic in case any rats were able to get through. Unfortunately, the next day I checked, two rats got through and met the traps. I contacted Attic Heroes and spoke to Fidel. The same day, he showed up and inspected my home again. I never mentioned to them about my home having a crawl space. My fault, I should have mentioned it. Fidel scheduled to come by the next day. The following day Fidel and Tony came by and cleaned, disinfected, and rodent proofed the crawl space areas. It's been a few months, and so far, so good. I can feel the difference in how the home stays warmer and how the new ducts work perfectly when the heater is on.
