Our fan was installed in 2010 and recently the belt broke. They still had our records, and got out reason quickly in this heat to fix it. That's the only problem we've had with it in 16 years. The repair guy was here about 20 min and had it fixed. If you're not using an attic fan in this climate, you're nuts. They work great and greatly reduce the need for air conditioning. I knew nothing about big attic fans when we moved to Colorado (and not from California) but our neighbor next door Dean and Brittany were raving about theirs so I thought I'd check it out. Had a whole house attic fan installed eight years ago... it's done wonders for my electric bill in the summer cutting it, by my estimate, at least 2/3... there are many summer days when the air-conditioner in the house doesn't go on at all... Typically on the warmest days, the air-conditioner won't go on until later in the afternoon. It's been working perfectly and has not required any servicing to this point... And I understand it may be many years before that is the case... Using this fan properly requires opening windows at night when the temperature is lower outside than it is inside the house. And closing the windows and shutting off the fan in the morning before it warms up outside ... I talked to energy savings consultants, not one of them bought up a whole house attic fan. I just spoke to the " customer service" person at AtticFan.com and requested a quote.. A first he was very polite and offered to give me a fast , easy quote with just a few questions answered. I agreed and during the process I was quoted 2,000 dollars for the 30" fan based on my Home SF. Ok, I wondered.. the fan on the website is listed at 1,800 dollars so I had to interrupt and ask about the discrepancy. "Our prices went up earlier this year", he said which I could completely agree with considering the price of everything these days. I then asked " Well, you might think that you should update your website? It is a bit misleading and I'm sure it would be pretty easy to change it" Instantly I get this reply "Maybe our company isn't right for you, and you should take your 'F'in' business elsewhere"... We used Atticfan.com to install our attic fan in July 2012 and the fan has been working amazing for 10 years! It has been the best improvement we ever made to our house and saved us a ton of money in air conditioning. We barely use AC ever since we had the fan installed 10 years ago. The belt just broke and I called attic fan.com to ask if they did repairs. Seymour let me know it's an easy repair to do ourself if we are somewhat handy. All we have to do is take the old fan belt to Ace Hardware to get the same size. Seymour said if we have any trouble installing it, just give him a call and he will walk us through the install process. My attic fan went out and the team at AtticFan.com helped me out a lot. On my first call, they helped me diagnose the problem to see if I could DIY fix for cheaper but when it turned out that wouldn't work, they came out and replaced my attic fan. Unfortunately, one of the wires in the new switch they added messed up the connection to my bathroom lights, but they came out the next day to inspect. When that didn't work, they allowed me to call an electrician and refunded me the cost of the electrician. Don't Let These Clowns In Your Home. Seymour is a complete joke. I am better off just opening my windows at night. I understand how whole house attics work having two in previous homes. Interestingly, owner could not comprehend my cc number. He left a voicemail saying that it did not work. I returned his call, telling him to call me back and I would give it to him. Nothing. Then the next day, I had a note pasted to my front door, telling me to call him. Finally, Enrique called and can you believe it? It was the correct number after all. Wow! I told Enrique that I was unhappy with the install and to have Seymour call me about it. Crickets Bottom line, Whole House Fan is incredibly noisy and does not cool the home to minimal expectations. Also, slats have 0 insultation, so should work great in January. Bush league at best! read more

Just a word of warning to everyone. These guys put in an attic fan for me back in 1999. I am trying to sell my house and it turns out, they cut a truss to install the fan without telling me or asking permission so please make sure you ask them if any things in the attic needs to be cut. This is costing me now that I am trying to sell my house because it is a structural integrity issue and you have to pay engineers, etc. to fix it. Just ask before you approve the work. read more

I do not recommend them: - Contractors do the work - not the owner. (an issue if work was not done properly) - Contractors are difficult to communicate with. - Web beams in attic need to be cut (not explained in advance!) - Floor beams need to be cut and new framing installed. (not explained in advance) - Contradiction between contractors and owner on additional venting. - Contrary to their site, fans should not be run in hot weather - only cool AM and PM hours. - Web and floor beam cutting could lead to code violation. (only explained to me after persistent questions) Overall, a very unprofessional outfit, beat up dirty contractor trucks with testy installers who dislike questions. With work of this magnitude, a manager or owner should inspect the home, clearly explain all options including placement of fan, attic vents etc and explain all the cutting requirements and possible code violations and how to deal with it. Seymour and his crew did a great job. I was considering installing an attic fan myself and then spoke to Seymour. He was glad to sell me just the fan but also informed me how many times they are called after DIY to fix it. He explained the whole process, gave me an estimate over the phone and Michael come out two days later. The estimate was accurate, installation took about 4 hours. Michael was professional and courteous, explained the difference in fan sizes and after reviewing the attic space suggested the best spot in the house. Out great room and bedroom on the upper level easily are 10 to 15 degrees warmer on hot days. Usually AC is required to get it cool. Since I have an older house with lathe and plaster it was a trickier install. The work was done efficiently and professionally and it came out great. It's amazing how well and quickly my house cools down and with very little added monthly expense. It's wonderful to feel the natural cool breeze refresh the house. Booked with Seymour on the phone after a long conversation about my options for an attic fan. He told me Enrique would be here from 8-9am today. I was a little annoyed that he gave me a time frame in lieu of just an actual start time. Enrique did show up at 8am promptly. He came in and I asked him to take his shoes off because 1) its a rule in my house and 2) I just put new carpet in. He replied "I cannot do that Sir because I will be getting in and out of the attic" - I said OK, if you can't respect the rules of my house, then you can leave. So he did. Why these people don't have the slip on booties that go over their boots, I don't know. Scheduled an appointment for the next day. We love our attic fan! Atticfan.com installed in our new house 19+ years ago. We couldn't live without the attic fan; we turn it on in the morning to pull the cool air into the house and find that the a/c doesn't come on until mid-afternoon, even on the hottest of hot days. We then turn it on in the evenings to pull more cool air into the house. Our a/c runs at most 4 hours per day with the thermostat set at 73. We have found the attic fan to be incredibly cost effective. Couldn't live without it!! read more
