Fun starts in the sand!…read more What an effing fun place to go dune buggy riding! They don't take reservations, but I highly recommend that you get there as early as possible. Park, head inside to buy your tickets, then write your name on the board outside near the waiting area. The guys will pull up in the buggy's, you'll climb on in, and away you go! 45/60 mins of twists, turns, and flying through the sand dunes along the beach. It doesn't get any better than this! Taking pictures is close to impossible, and you'll want to live in the moment. Wear clothes and shoes that you're comfy in. On rainy days, make sure you wear something that you don't mind getting slightly dirty. Did I mention how fun this is?? If YKYK. If you don't, this should be a must try. Just do it!

When they went over the waivers and what our day would include they were detail oriented and thorough to make sure we would stay safe and prepared for any terrain! I also mentioned that I was a returning customer and It was my birthday and the gentleman helping us told us he could offer us an extra hour on our ride! There are people near you in every direction. And it's Sept of 2021 and some Hicks were burning stuff despite the fire ban. It was so loud we couldn't sleep. Everyone was in such close proximity to each other that a yelling match broke out. We got there around 5PM and left at 9:30PM because of how sketchy it was there. Not to mention people kept walking through our camp site??? Like there was a collective lack of respect from everyone there. Hoping we can get a refund since we only stayed 4.5 hours.

There's also good beach access for ATVs, fishing, birding, and dog-walking (but watch for Snowy Plover Seasonal Beach Restrictions between March 15 - September 15). Stagecoach Trailhead provides access to several trails, including the accessible Lagoon trail and the longer Waxmyrtle trail, which meanders through the coastal shore pine forests and along the river to the beach. Trails here include barrier-free boardwalks, walks through coastal rhododendron and wax myrtle groves to the beach, and a loop through the spruce forest that makes a stop at remote campsites along Siltcoos Lake. There's a $5 day use fee, or you can use one of the many passes that work here. Camping costs $20 per night for a single unit with a 2-vehicle parking limit. It's open year-round, and probably not a bad deal considering there's potable water and flush toilets. Plus there don't seem to be lots of campers here so maybe it'll be extra peaceful for you.

On Friday morning we googled local ATV rental places and came upon Torex ATV Rentals. When we got there, we were given some information about renting machines and the cost but we weren't sure if we wanted to go out alone. Another business was in the same building, Siuslaw Eco Tours, and for $50 per person you could get a personal guided tour of the dunes for 40 minutes. We opted for the guided tour and we were not disappointed at all! Larson, was our very experienced driver in a Honda Talon 4-seater and he gave us a wonderful tour of the different trails heading into the dunes, the dunes themselves and we drove on the beach too. He gave us some history about the area too. We had so much fun! My wife and I both had smiles from ear-to-ear the whole time! The Talon had very comfy seats and the suspension was active and smoothed out the ride. My wife and I highly recommend Siuslaw Eco Tours if you want a fun guided tour of the dunes and definitely ask for Larson! If you just want to rent ATVs and go out on your own, hit up Torex ATV Rentals which share the same location. BTW, we had so much fun, we came back the very next day and Larson took us out again to the dunes! Great Times!

As always, the staff was friendly and helpful. Seriously, if you're thinking of trying this activity but apprehensive bc you've never done it before... just do it, you will have a great time. We opted for the 2.5 hours with 90 minutes free and it still went by so fast. The dunes are challenging and keeps you on your toes until you hit the coast which is gorgeous and a ton of fun to cruise on. A huge shout out to Dave who made the check in and out seamless and Jeremy who was on it when we got stuck after the back wheel clipped a tree on a narrower trail ( suggestion on going back to where we clipped the tree and cutting it down: evidence shows we where NOT the first person to hit that tree.....we will have to pay to have it repaired fingers crossed it won't be that much! Alex and Jeremy helped us out, were super accommodating and welcoming. Jeremy also talked to us about how the helmets are cleaned (steam cleaned before going into a sanitizing oven for 3 hours) which was important to know. We hesitated on top of a dune and ended up getting stuck but we gave Alex a call and he and Jeremy came up to help us right away. When feeling a little nervous about approaching a dune, Alex and Jeremy were incredibly helpful talking to us about it too. Jeremy then demonstrated what to do when driving up to the top of the dune before going down the other side which helped us feel more at ease. Alex and Jeremy are excellent and deserve much praise. The pricing is also better compared to Spinreel too. Alex definitely seems like an experienced leader there. He and Jeremy are a great team and are professional, kind and knowledgeable. These guys are great assets to the company. Hope they are valued and appreciated! Would definitely come back to rent again on a future trip.

Their pricing is hard to beat, we rode two rental ATVs for 45$ each for an hour- this included a ride to the dunes, gas and a helmet. The worker, a younger gentleman,was extremely kind and helpful, running back to the store quickly when our ATV was having troubles and sticking around to make sure we were comfortable on the machines. His professionalism and kindness (especially with me, as a beginner) was above and beyond. He was very clear with safety and tips/tricks, I wish I caught his name! This employee is remarkable and I give him heaps of praise! The dunes in this area ranged from flat lands to hills, great for families just getting into riding or experienced novices. Overall, my experience with this rental company was fantastic!
