I'm not the usual type to get into a sport like this and I had an absolute blast. The staff was accommodating and so helpful from the beginning to end. We opted for the 2.5 hours with 90 minutes free and it still went by so fast. The dunes are challenging and keeps you on your toes until you hit the coast which is gorgeous and a ton of fun to cruise on. A huge shout out to Dave who made the check in and out seamless and Jeremy who was on it when we got stuck after the back wheel clipped a tree on a narrower trail ( suggestion on going back to where we clipped the tree and cutting it down: evidence shows we where NOT the first person to hit that tree.....we will have to pay to have it repaired fingers crossed it won't be that much! Will keep you posted on cost; just in case someone has a similar situation: with a bent axle.) THAnk you: thank you: thank you for such a wonderful time and great memories!! Highly recommend going with these guys for your rental needs. We had a previous reservation with Spinreel up the road but they had terrible customer service and we decided to stop by to see if this spot on the way back had any availability. Alex and Jeremy helped us out, were super accommodating and welcoming. Jeremy also talked to us about how the helmets are cleaned (steam cleaned before going into a sanitizing oven for 3 hours) which was important to know. We hesitated on top of a dune and ended up getting stuck but we gave Alex a call and he and Jeremy came up to help us right away. When feeling a little nervous about approaching a dune, Alex and Jeremy were incredibly helpful talking to us about it too. Jeremy then demonstrated what to do when driving up to the top of the dune before going down the other side which helped us feel more at ease. Alex and Jeremy are excellent and deserve much praise. The pricing is also better compared to Spinreel too. Alex definitely seems like an experienced leader there. He and Jeremy are a great team and are professional, kind and knowledgeable. Short Version: They were very helpful and went to great lengths to help us enjoy our trip. Long Version: These guys went above & beyond in their kindness and generosity. When we showed up, my debit card had issues placing the 1500$ security deposit because my bank was rejecting the transaction due to fraud concern. When we had no service to call my bank, Dave lended us his cell phone. When our bank wouldn't answer the phone and we decided to go get cash from a banking location, Dave was very patient and understanding despite us now being past our reservation time. When we returned, they helped us gear up and explained the routes. We paid for two hours and they offered to double our time to four hours for free! First we went to the beach and played on the little dunes and then moved inland to the larger dunes. We were told (or we thought we heard) them say "The further you go into the dunes, the deeper the sand gets". So we stayed close to the dune entrance. But I guess what they meant to say (or what we missed) was that the further East you go (closer to the highway) the deeper the sand gets. So when we were trying to find a safe, low grade, route back to the facility, we ended up getting stuck in a hill and sliding sideways. We called their number for help, texted them our location on the map, and they sent help to us. But we were REALLY stuck in a bad position and they couldn't get the UTV out so they gave us a ride back and said they would get it out later. I was very distraught and certain I was going to lose my whole $1500 deposit but they just said "Don't worry about it. If you don't get stuck than you just weren't pushing it hard enough. Now go and enjoy the rest of your vacation and have a safe drive home!" They returned our full deposit and sent us on our way. They really did not have to do that and be so helpful and accommodating the whole day. I recommend them highly, just know that the UTV we had couldn't build up much speed or momentum for going up hills, couldn't climb too steep of a hill, and has a higher center of gravity than an actual sand buggy would. I would make sure to get the sand buggy next time but none were available when I made the reservation. read more

Everyone here was so helpful, friendly and courteous and helped us all have an incredibly fun (and SAFE) first ever dune buggy/UTV experience for my oldest son's 13th birthday. Jeremy and Matt helped us get all set up in the buggy and were terrific when we came back and asked to switch to the UTV halfway through our time! an hour agoNEW If I could give them negative stars I absolutely would. We rented a 4 seat machine. They didn't have any and gave us 2 two seater can ams. Within 20 minutes one machine goes into limp mode. We return it and they give us another, that machine didn't even make it to the sand outside their property before engine light comes on. Bring it back and they immediately blamed us for a zip tie that was holding the headlight in. The machine was out of coolant so they begin to service it on our hourly rental. Meanwhile their Mechanic opens a coolant reservoir on a machine next to us and explodes boiling hot coolant all over our group. The manager was insulting and obtrusive. Ludicrous that these people think they can talk down to customers that simply want a refund for machines that don't function. Next they keep the deposit from pre existing damages to a machine not even identified in the rental agreement! Please go somewhere else!!! read more

Had a great time on the dunes. Our first time ever so it was a little scary at first. At the rental headquarters Jeremy helped us. He was great to work with and was very thorough with his explanations of everything. Actually everyone we had contact with there was excellent. We rented the 2 seater CanAm. It had plenty of power to climb the dunes and went fast enough for these two 57 year Olds. Out on the dunes get your bearings because after a short distance everything looks the same and it would be easy to get lost out there. read more

We put on a children's event and wanted to share the dune experience with kids who wouldn't normally have access to them. From the first phone call to the Sunbuggy headquarters in Las Vegas with Kristina, to the first meeting with the manager David, at the Houser location, our experience could not have been better. David has an awesome crew of workers including Angie, Matt, Steve and everyone else we came across during the day. They were awesome and treated the kids exceptionally! They all helped us with the safety training and anything else we needed! We are a family of 4 riding for the first time and wanted our older son to be able to drive the buggy so we rented the 4 seat Explorer XPZ Dune Buggy. This vehicle would have been fun if only riding in flat sand. it did not do well on any type of inclines. we kept getting stuck. Dave was very patient and helpful as he assisted us in getting unstuck. However after being rescued we quickly got stuck again. I would recommend a different vehicle. He was very accommodating and did offer us a different vehicle but we did not come prepared for the weather and we were to cold to want to stay longer. (we are from Ca). Very good help. All the employees were extremely happy and engaging with the children. They made everything work out great. Unfortunately 20 minutes before we were to head back and return our utv, the belt broke on a downhill ride and we called Steve who came to our rescue. They supplied us with a second utv and assured us that our deposits would not be affected by the mishap. Mr. Steve was a very respectful and took the upmost pride in his employment. Acted somewhat of an owner. The gentleman "Matt" who sent us on our way in the morning was very informative. We were originally helped by a young man, I cannot remember his name for the life of me. But he looked to be somewhat of the mechanic also. He steered us to get our best bang for the buck and man was it worth it. If you would like to ride more then 1 hour I strongly recommend looking into the early bird special. All in all, it was great for the kids, my wife and myself. read more

Great time at Sunbuggy yesterday! The guys were great, worked hard to make sure we were safely prepared. The road to the beach was impassable due to water so we had to stick to the dunes, and had some trouble due to our inexperience: Got stuck going up too steep of dunes and had to reverse down a few times, but that made it more challenging! Family of 4, 2 hours in 2 buggies, perfect. Only complaint is it is hard to find even though right on 101, so know where you are going. read more

My three friends and I rented with them and had the best experience. My buggy got stuck pretty early in, and Steve and Angie were out there right away to rescue me. They asked if I wanted an ATV instead of a buggy, and offered to tow me out, get me a new vehicle, and send me back in. I told them I was a little paranoid about driving an ATV out there, so Steve asked if I wanted him to drive me around in the buggy. I said yes, and he hopped right in and gave my group the best unofficial tour. We learned so much just watching him drive, and I had way more fun from the passenger seat than I ever would have if I drove myself (not to mention he stopped to rescue our vehicles two more times in the process haha). Had a blast riding the dunes in our Can-Am Maverick. We booked early in the day and booked 2 hours so we got an extra 1.5 hours free which was a great deal. The dunes are expansive so it was nice to have the extra time to explore and get comfortable with the rig. All in all a great experience. We would book again. read more

We stopped at Sun Buggy 9-15 during a road trip to Sequim Wa. It was just starting to sprinkle a little, but decided to go ahead. After getting the safety Meeting and Video about safety out of the way, we were fitted for helmets and googles. There are several nice looking buggies in the garage and outside but the rental they put us in was a beater. When you get in and put the seat belts on they tell you that you cant use the reverse gear ! What ? this rental is forward only ! Ok, we have paid and are strapped in so lets go. You have to push down very hard on the gas to make this one go. Steering is all over the place. We follow the trail to the beach, but its flat and not much fun. Heading back to the dune section, we head for the side of the first big dune where all the tire tracks are. I floored it and barley made the top. After riding around the sides of the dunes because this buggy wont climb anything, we head back and turn it in on time. They charge you and hour for every 15 minutes that you are late. I would rent a razor from one of the other outfits in the area. Would not recommend to a friend. read more

Went out there with the family en route the Redwoods from Washington. Service was great. The two gentlemen helping us were very patient with our questions and getting us out the parking lot as my husband thought he knew what he was doing but not really. Great times! I researched the many options to rent ATVs along the coast, and based on all the reviews and information I gathered decided to go with Sunbuggy. My girlfriend and I were visiting Oregon from California and had never ridden ATVs before. We had a blast! Syd was super cool and helpful in getting us set up, choosing which type would be good for us based on the sand conditions and our (lack of) experience, and showing us how to shift and operate the quads. They provide you with helmets, goggles, and a quick safety/instructional video before you embark on your adventure. It's about a mile of sand dune riding to get to the coast, the sand is soft and you most likely will get stuck at least once. Luckily there are handles on the front and back end which make it easier to drag the quad out of the sand (the back end is lighter and easier to lift) so you should be riding again in no time. Once you get to the beach it's amazing! Miles of wide open packed sand that you can seriously haul ass on (4th gear is a rush!) and if you go on a weekday you pretty much have the beach to yourself. One of the coolest things I've ever done in my life. Highly recommend! read more
