I ate a very mediocre meal at one of the creperies in town called Au Lys D'Argent. The only reason I chose this place was because it was one of the only ones without an English menu and where I actually heard French people talking in the restaurant. It was probably one of the better choices. The menu at 10,90€ (about $15 USD) included a warm goat cheese salad on lukewarm bread swimming in sauce. I chose a galette complet with egg, ham and cheese in an overdone crepe, and a sweet sugar crepe that was so dry I only tasted the middle before giving up on it completely. After my meal, I would have gladly eaten somewhere off the island in the nearby Marais. read more

Au Lys d'Argent is a lovely quaint and inviting Creperie on Isle St Louis. I have been going there to have lunch for years. The gentleman who is the purveyor is quite nice and takes care of you. He has owned his restaurant for 25 years. Crepes, savory and sweet, Quiches and salads are what you can expect with a nice selection of teas and always nice wines. I love the ambiance and enjoy seeing the owner and having a genuine Parisian experience at Au Lys d'Argent and always go at least once on my trips to Paris. read more

Fresh, organic food ingredients presented beautifully and fulfilling enough to satisfy an avid traveler's hunger! Crêpe Recommendations: traditional ham, cheese, and egg crêpe; mushrooms and goat cheese crêpe; or Nutalla crêpe. I highly recommend this crêperie to any traveler or local diner. Tiny space, stuck door, miniscule basement bathroom, well-executed simple crepes, and thick rich hot chocolate. This place has what counts. We went with lemon sugar (my favorite) and a chestnut creme for an adventure. The lemon was outstanding --- fruity without being soggy, and with a slice of (broiled?) lemon as garnish. The chestnut creme is sweet, but not overpowering. Translucent like some of the other French chestnut cremes I've had, not opaque like the Swiss version. The house hot chocolate is rich and thick. The basement bathroom is hilariously small, with curved walls that indicate either lazy excavators or subterranean hazards. Put your shoulder into the door, both opening and closing. read more

So fabulous we ate here twice. Owned by a super friendly husband and wife team. Can't go wrong with sweet or savory.

This is the kind of place that contributes to the charm of Il Saint Louis. Tiny, crowded tables and miniscule WC. Absolutely loved it. I went were several times - love love love the caramel crepe - the crepe itself was perfectly prepared, nice and thin, and caramel was thick and buttery. They are not stingy with the fillings/toppings! The chocolate was dark, decadent and rich. The lemon was the perfect balance of sweet and tart - so refreshing. Honestly, we could have licked our plates clean. Will definitely go back next time we are in Paris. read more

As a vegetarian it can sometimes be difficult to find a place to eat. It was getting late and we needed to make a decision, so we tried this place as it was very close to the place we were staying. First we shared a homemade vegetable soup and vegetarian salad. The vegetable soup was hot, fresh, and delicious. Served with fresh bread and shredded Parmesan, it was perfect for a cold autumn night. The salad, also served with fresh bread, was light and flavorful, topped with raisins, tomatoes, potato slices, cream cheese (not like the American spread), and what tasted like some sort of vinaigrette. It had a great flavor and texture. Yummy! For the main portion of the meal, I had an eggplant crepe, made with eggplant (obviously), tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, olive oil, and rosemary. It was warm and savory and simply delicious. My boyfriend had the goat cheese, hazelnut, and honey crepe. He thought the flavors were interesting but good. The goat cheese was strong, but the hazelnuts gave the crepe a nice crunch and the honey added some sweetness to balance out the goat cheese. At the recommendation of our server, my boyfriend tried the new red wine they were offering and described it as his favorite glass of wine on our trip so far. Lastly, we tried a hot chocolate with whipped cream crepe for dessert. It was sooo good and I probably ate it a little too quickly. Worth it. As with many of the restaurants and cafes here, it was a charming and cozy place and we very much enjoyed our meal here! read more

Paris December 30th. It is grey, cold. Parisians are tense, not smiling and let's say it grumpy. I am French and I live in Seattle. I am so frustrated when I am back home and I see people behave like that. I had walked 3 hours looking at building because this is what I like to do and I was frozen. I entered in this restaurant and I had the warmest experience I had in 10 days. Why? Atmosphere of the restaurant: small, warm colors, charming decoration but mainly thanks to the owner who is the second person in 10 days smiling at me. She sat us on a corner table. I was close to the kitchen and I could see a lot. She handled customers in several languages, kept her smile, very good customer service and of course the food was excellent. I did not have crepes in a long time and her crepes were delicious I took a menu with entree and desert. We had cider as well. The bill was about 40 euros for 2. I thanked her on my way out to reconcile me with the idea of "Parisians are rude". I am going back in August with friends from Seattle. If the restaurant is open, she will see us again. read more
