Food is hit and miss. Sometimes it's perfect and sometimes it's not. Seasoning is inconsistent. We had dishes on a previous night the were all so salty they were nearly inedible. The burger was made fresh in the past but last visit it looked like a frozen patty thrown on the grill. I really want to like this place and hope they get it together in the kitchen. On the road, looking for a decent meal, stumbled into the restaurant on a packed Friday night and managed to find a perch at the bar. I was initially intimidated--when I tell you the place was hopping I mean the energy was off the chain. But the girls at the bar were friendly so I settled in and what unfolded was the best meal I've eaten this year--maybe the best meal I'll eat all year. Perfectly cooked halibut, meltingly tender, in a spicy tomato broth with shrimp, mussels, calamari, orzo. Every bite was pure pleasure. Thank goodness I saved room for dessert, because the white chocolate bread pudding with bananas foster sauce almost made me lose my mind. It can be uncomfortable traveling alone, but the girls working the bar were beyond sweet, never acted as if a woman traveling solo was less worthy of their attention than any other diner. One of our favorite restaurants anywhere. We loved every bite tonight. I had the grilled salmon with rice pilaf and broccoli (subbed for the fried Brussel sprouts). I visited Aubri Lane's for the first time while I was in Milledgeville last week and I can not believe that I have waited so long to try this gem of a find. It truly is one of Milledgeville finest treasures when it comes to dining. When I arrived at Aubri Lane's I was met at the front door by the owner, Jason Medders, who I've known for years. He greeted me and walked me into the bar area where I grabbed a drink and we chatted a while. Jason is great at making all of his customers feel at home by making sure he visits each and every table, and he is even back in the kitchen helping prepare the meals. For dinner that night I begin with a cup of She Crab Soup that was wonderfully creamy; garnished with fresh lump crab and sherry. Then for my main course I had the 8 oz Filet Mignon that I can not even begin to tell you how great it was; so tender that you could cut it with a fork. It was topped with the best Cabernet demi glaze and served with chive mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. All delicious enough to make sure you returned a clean plate when you finished eating. The restaurant is beautiful and simply elegant, located in the old Milledgeville Bank that was around in the 1800's. The ceiling is made of hammered tin and the old vault serves as the restaurants wine cellar, and both of which are original and on the National Registry List. A marvelous staircase leads from the downstairs dining room to additional dining available upstairs. This place is truly special and rich with history that creates a charming dining experience for all. I'm so happy to see my hometown of Milledgeville acquire such a great restaurant and wish Jason the most success! read more

Who knew this small town would have a premier restaurant, with friendly service, a bartender that makes a perfect manhattan, great house wine, and a chef that knows how to serve delicious, first rate meals, all served in a lovely setting? My pimento cheese appetizer was rich and tasty, and my tilapia was perfectly prepared, moist and flavorful, and served on a wonderful mushroom risotto. Ordered the $28 filet, cooked MEDIUM. The steak brought out was butterflied and well done. The waitress asked if I wanted juice or gravy for the steak. At $28, no thank you, I want a replacement please. Then a guy came out and again, asked did I want juice for my steak. At this point...I said no...don't worry about it. I don't even want the replacement steak. Sooo.....here comes the owner of the place. He asked if there was a problem? Repeats the same questions. I again say I don't want anything. Moments later, the owner comes out AGAIN with a steak to tell me that he cut into MY steak and it was cooked perfectly! The steak he showed me was indeed pink throughout. HOWEVER, what he didn't realize...the original steak was butterflied. He had the nerve to bring out a completely different steak to say it wasn't over cooked. The nerve to argue with me and flat out lie about it! Not to mention, never once did the waitress apologize, nor the first guy that came out, nor the manager. Customer NO service! Not a great way to run a business. I will NEVER go back to this place. I will make sure to let anyone in this area know my experience as well. Little do they know, I'm down here from out of town, helping bring jobs to the area. I will not recommend this place! UPDATE: As you can see by the owners comments below, still arguing.
