July 10, 2026 Was interested in purchasing a new Q5 Audi. Walked into the showroom, proceeded to look at the Q5 in the showroom. Spent 10 minutes in the showroom and during this time, not a single person acknowledged us. No eye contact, no "Hi" "Somebody will be with you shortly. Would you like any thing to drink?" Nothing. My sales rep Dustin was actually really nice. But his supervisor George is the exact opposite. The way he speaks to clients is extremely condescending. He costed Dustin a sale and I feel bad. But I'd never spend/buy from someone who speaks to customers like that. Not only is George an issue, as I was leaving I see one of the Audi employees treat a full blown red light as a stop sign. He stopped, looked both ways, and ran the red light to cross the street to fill up one of their cars. It was actually fascinating to see someone who is that impatient or that above the law in broad day light. Also, the car I wanted to test drive malfunctioned before I got out of the lot. "WARNING DRIVER SYSTEM ERROR" blaring after I drove an hour to test out the car and was told it's ready to go. Incredible experience. read more

Purchased my Audi Allroad in 2021and today had a tire blowout on the interstate only to find out i could not change the tire because the tire change tools are missing from the car. Had to call for help. Truck could not change tire, needed tool to take bolts off. Had to tow to tire store. What a headache and the sad part the dealership couldn't care less. read more

Bottom Line Up Front: Do not purchase a vehicle from Lithia or any of its subsidiaries. This company is predatory, unhelpful, and will leave you stranded without a care in the world. I bought a vehicle from Audi of Des Moines in May 2025, and what should have been an exciting purchase turned into a nightmare. If you're considering doing business with Lithia or one of its brands, please read my experience first--especially if you're a young woman who struggles with confrontation. Buying a car should never require conflict or defensiveness. ________________________________________ Part 1: Timing Component * 45 days after purchase, my vehicle completely stopped working. * I called Lithia for support. Their response? None. (I hadn't purchased the warranty--lesson learned--but the car was priced at $20,000 with 80,000 miles. Reasonably, I expected it to last more than 6 weeks.) * I had my car towed to Beckley Automotive (HIGHLY recommend), where I was quoted $8,000+ for repairs. * I called Lithia back, desperate for help, as the repair cost was nearly 50% of the purchase price. * I was directed to a manager (kind man, but ultimately powerless under a predatory company). Lithia offered to "diagnose" the car for free--work Beckley had already done. They refused to cover towing or any repairs. * I asked for a loaner vehicle since I'd already been without a car for a week. I have two children who rely on me for school and sports transportation. Their answer? "We don't provide rentals." After pressing further, the truth came out: they simply weren't willing to provide one. * The manager told me someone "higher up" would contact me. That call never came. * In the end, I had no choice but to pay nearly $9,000 with tax to repair the timing component. I was left without a car for over a month, while my family struggled to manage basic transportation needs. Lithia's indifference was devastating. If they can so easily disregard one customer's hardship, I can't imagine the harm they've caused to others. ________________________________________ Part 2: Brakes * Before purchasing, I told the salesman, Amir, that I was concerned about the rear passenger brake. * His response: "All of our vehicles have been safety tested." Translation: It's closing time and I don't care. I can't help but wonder--was it because I'm a young woman, or simply because he wanted to leave? Either way, I wasn't taken seriously. * My experience with Amir was so dismissive that I recorded the remainder of my interaction with him (unfortunately after the brake concern). * 2,000 miles later--after already losing the entire month of July into August without a car--my brakes are rusted and squeal so loudly it's embarrassing. I'm shocked the sound doesn't carry all the way to the Lithia executive's mansion. * I haven't even sought a repair quote yet. Frankly, I'm so disgusted with Lithia's lack of service and accountability that I don't know where to begin. ________________________________________ Side Notes * The only truly kind person I encountered at Audi of Des Moines was a trainee in the back office. He helped me understand the paperwork as best as he could, while the actual paperwork handler rushed me through and was difficult to understand due to a language barrier. So we went in to buy a used car. It was listed at 16,900. Great nothing wrong with it. But we noticed there was a sticker that has listed add ons of undercoating, sealant, fabric protection, and anti theft for $2100. This was not listed on the price of the car. Salesman said not to worry, we would figure something out on the price He said that the car was purchased from another dealer after the 3 year lease was up. So I asked what did they purchase the car for. Basically what did they owe on the car and what would be a fair profit for them to make? Salesman talked to his manager and came back with a sheet listing the cost of the car. It was bought for 15,500. And after the add ons and transportation and inspections they have $20,500 invested in the car I was like, wait what? So you are selling the car at 16,900...for a loss of $3600? Without skipping a beat, he says yeah, we do that sometimes. He says we make up for it in providing the servicing on the car. Lol. So 3 things. 1- he is flat out lying. No one does business like that and stays in business. 2 - I would never get an oil change or service done there if that were actually true. 3 - thats still a lot of oil changes to make up that loss read more

BE VERY CAREFUL BUYING A USED CAR FROM HERE. Purchased a used car with 87k miles in January of 2023. Never felt like it ran right specifically shifting gears & by December of 2023 I was told it needed a new timing chain and possibly a new engine. The mechanic said the engine appeared to have almost no maintenance for the lifetime of the car ("looks like its had about 3 oil changes in it's lifetime" and the timing chain was shot. Feels like this is something a minor inspection of the car would have picked up on. I bought as is assuming they would have done their diligence, so be sure to either get some warranty or have a mechanic review it before purchasing. read more

Lithia Audi of Des Moines sold me a 2018 Acura TLX on 8/17/21, that was still under original warranty and came with limited dealer warranty. Discovered after sale had corrosion and covered in mold. Black mold was obvious along all doors. A mold test kit was done and determined it was mold. Black mold along entire sunroof, along trunk lid, along all doors, and underneath all weather-stripping. Mold behind rocker panels. Corrosion underneath car, behind rocker panels. White chunks of mold behind weather-stripping, green mold along all weather-stripping. Suggests car was in flood. Have invoice from shop that did mold removal. Car was purchased from auction in Florida. Had to pay $400 to have mold removed along doors & sunroof, could not remove mold underneath weather stripping, as would destroy weather-stripping and/or paint. Lithia bought car back from me after I demanded it, took 2.5 weeks to respond - with sales mgr George Meza ignoring me. Only responded after I involved my lawyer. General Manger Brent Schettler said he intends to sell car again, and personally drove out to KC to retrieve car and try sweep under rug. Tried to force me to sign 2 documents that car was not in flood before would buy the car back. Also tried to force me to register and pay taxes on car in KS. Repeatedly said only buying car because I was unhappy about it, and not because it was a flood car. Car also had burnt wax on 3 areas of car, where wax was buffed into paint to cover up missing paint. D- rating on BBB. Buyer beware!!! read more

They low balled my trades and made up several excuses for the values that made zero sense (ie: "we contacted local dealerships and this is what they will give us for your 2023 Camaro and 2021 Escalade.") Audi Des Moines sold me a car with 93k miles and the engine light went on on my way home from purchasing it. I brought it back in and they said I would have to pay $600 for repair. After a couple minutes of argument, they tried bribing me into leaving a 5 star review in exchange for them fixing it for free. They "fixed" my car and the engine light went back on 2 days later and needed a new timing chain for $3,000; which they obviously knew when they sold it to me. The salesman AJ was extremely demeaning and asked me if my dad was going to be paying for my car on the way out in a snarky way. Don't trust the sales team at Des Moines Audi....I had been dealing with George Meza for about 5 weeks with plans to order an RS6 Avant. When the day came where I could finally place the special order, I made the hour drive to the dealership. The agreement that we had was that I would pay full MSRP for the car to get one of the two desirable spots that were allotted the dealership. I did ask them to value my current vehicle for a trade...which they offered bottom KBB trade value on a car that I had agreed to pay full price for. Pretty unfair but hey...they are car salesmen, what would I expect? I politely declined their sad offer. After we filled out the paperwork for my options, George went and met with the sales manager and they conferred for a while...on what I'm not sure since I had agreed to pay full price. When he returned with the numbers I assured him that his math was wrong...only to find out they they had added a $10,000 dealer markup! In the previous weeks this was never mentioned...actually in an earlier phone call, George told me that I was lucky not to get charged a premium because if the rarity of the car. It was hilarious how he looked so shocked when I told him there was no way I was going to pay a $10k mark up....get a grip man. I had bought the car from them , with all of the packages! I went to get my second oil change and my break light bulb light came . It had been on for a month my husband put brand new bulb on both side and it come back on week later. I figured they would check it . Because they lights on. They tried to act like it wasn't on. Then told me I should go to a Honda dealership instead. I told them that bought my car and got my warranty through them. They said that it would be better if I went some where else to get looked at. My wife purchased a 2013 Malibu 1LT back in July. There is not much positive about the transaction. 1. During price negotiation we said that we needed the extended warranty factored into the monthly payment. Marco The sales person and sales manager ignored that request. 2. We got to finance and Alexandr did not even want to sell us an extended warranty. He finally did but then told us that we had to come back there for service. 3. He also asked if we wanted the specialty plate we said no, the regular Iowa Plate is fine 46 days later we get the black plate in the mail yes it cost extra. 4. After 2 days the check engine light comes on so we take it to Lithia. And they tell her there is nothing they can do except reset the code P2097 5. We then took it to a local GM dealership and they told us that the extended warranty is good at any ASE certified dealership. They replaced the injectors the high pressure line, and the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor after the light came on two more times with the same code P2097 6. The same code P2097 came up again today 9/4 And we'll take it back in to service again this week. ** If you look at the low scores in google review. you'll see this is a common thread with Lithia's Used cars and customer treatment** It's not just us. The salesperson I was working with (Timothy AKA TJ) was hostile and blatantly disrespectful. I spent $140 to take the car in for an inspection and the mechanics said there was evidence of mice in the engine bay. When I asked Timothy about this he laughed derisively in my face and called me a liar. My friend that witnessed the whole thing said I was visibly shaking because I was so upset I emailed Lithia customer service and summarized a number of issues with the dealership. I got four calls during work from their general manager, Brent. He offered to pay for the inspection fee and have a talk with the salesperson. He took down my personal information and promised that the check would be sent out, but nothing ever came I'm not happy that I was called during work since I specifically told Timothy that my phone number was only to be used during the test drive in case of an emergency. Still, Audi of Des Moines called me with a lengthy survey the day of my first visit, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised. The dealership will lie about how they use your personal information The vehicle I looked at smelled awful. It had this unpleasant animal scent. Timothy claimed it was the smell from being freshly detailed, Todd said that he hadn't noticed any smell, and Jeremy (Timothy's manager) said all Lexus sedans get that smell. They convinced me to come back later in case it was the detailing, but it was still there. They said they would have it deodorized After it had been deodorized, it had a strong fragrance that masked any other scents in the vehicle. I couldn't tell if the issue had been resolved, so they suggested I drive it to my mechanic for an inspection after the fragrance had some time to disperse. On the way to the mechanic, the fragrance was still overpowering other smells, but I could vaguely detect something unpleasant. I was hoping the mechanics could find out the source The mechanics said that there was evidence of mice and that the HEPA filter was filthy with significant build-up around it. My friend that was giving me a ride sat down in the Lexus and immediately complained about a "heavy musk". Deodorizing the car had not removed the source of the smell and it was gradually coming back The mechanics also showed me that the bumper was cracked all the way through and was hanging on by about an inch of plastic. I had already been aware of the long deep scratch on the driver's side of the vehicle, but they pointed out that there was also a rectangular chunk missing from the edge of the back door where someone could cut their hand while handling it. The hood had chips of paint missing where the metal underneath had started rust I asked them about why the car had skidded into another (thankfully empty) lane during a completely normal turn when I first test drove it. I had thought it was due to the long strip of plastic on the tire that hadn't been removed before the test drive, but the mechanics mentioned that the dealership had put extremely cheap off-brand tires onto the luxury sedan, so that might have been a contributing factor. They said I was lucky that the weather was good (we were randomly getting snow, rain, and sleet at the time) because the windshield wipers would have left me driving blind The mechanics said there were over $2,500 of mechanical repairs to do, which didn't include cosmetic items like scratches, rust, or the bumper. It also didn't include any future repairs I was likely to need (the bottom was horribly corroded and the exhaust system was probably going to need to be replaced soon). The price the dealership wanted me to pay was well above the actual worth of the car, but I was going to give Timothy a chance to address my concerns. Unfortunately, he was aggressive and insulting, so it all turned out to be a waste of my time, money, and effort *I also want to mention that the listing had the number of miles on the vehicle off by about 10,000 miles, but all three people I asked about this ignored my question and no one fixed the listing read more

While I thought the sales process here when I purchased my new car was great and then I also enjoyed the service I received from the service department, I completely soured on Audi when their finance manager refused to help me get a refund on the GAP insurance he sold me and oil changes for life which we were told were also refunded for the portion not used but paid for in the original loan. At first when we filled out the paperwork to be refunded he was very misinformed when he told us the refund would come from the bank. The bank later told us since they were dealer programs we purchased, the refund should come from them. We told Audi this and even emailed the finance AND the general manager with no response. So we had the bank call the finance manager Alex and tell him the same. He told the bank he would "file the paperwork" (which we had already done 3 months prior)... and get us our refund. It has been 4 months and no refund and no response to emails. Moral of the story really good at taking money... not so good at giving it back. And don't buy their dealer programs offered through the finance department. read more

Good afternoon. I would just like to share my experience at your dealership. My sister and I drove 5 hours to your facility with the intention to buy today. TJ was very agreeable over the phone, perhaps to get me into the store. However, when I attempted to negotiate my trade in value, he proceeded to insist that my numbers were unfounded. He claimed that his friend that owns the Lincoln dealership down the road told him that my vehicle is worth no more than $3500 and offered me $4000, then $4500 for it (despite that I know that I should be able to get $5500, easily). When I said that I was going to walk, he attempted to smear competitiors that I was also considering to try and save the sale. It felt very much like he either just had no idea how to find real, valid trade in values or he just perceived me as a female that didn't know what she was talking about. He certainly didn't seem to consider that my sister and I are successful, financially responsible business owners who are the younger siblings of several veteran automotive sales people, and are therefore highly informed on how to determine the value of my trade in, which made it very apparent that his numbers were completely baseless and borderline ridiculous. Although your dealership has lost this sale over a mere thousand dollars or so and have lost me and my family as future customers, perhaps this can be an educational opportunity for your employee. I recommend reviewing with your employee what are and are not appropriate sales tactics, that male chauvanism generally not well received, and that legitimate research from appropriate sources is still important, because your customer may actually know what they're talking about, even if they have ovaries. read more

So searching far and wide for the exact combination of Audi packages and extras leveraging technology (internet) is the next step. I found the exact setup in several locations across the US. Mercy was the first person to contact me about the vehicle inquiry. The dealer website did not have any pictures yet since the vehicle just arrived. Mercy took several pictures to verify the options I wanted and sent them in a timely manner. Their pricing was the best of the other 3 or 4 dealers I was talking to, AND they cut the price of shipping in half. I worked with Anando on the finance side who was knowledgeable, quick, and well mannered. Anando and Mercy kept me informed and updated along the entire way. Even sending me picture of loading my new car onto the transport truck. It's the little things that make them stand out. The first negative was the price emailed to me was $300 MORE than that which was listed on every site which I viewed the vehicle. I have since replied twice the first with an ACTUAL offer to purchase and a subsequent follow up the next day both of which were met with no response. Make sure you have the car you are looking at checked over thoroughly by someone you trust. Audi will not do a good job looking out for their customers. I bought a used car and had a lot of issues. The sales team did not do a good job getting the right price for either my car or the car I purchased. Had to feel like I was trying to rip them off. Took my recently purchased used Audi in for an oil change and check engine light diagnosis. Did not try shuttle service but was offered. Oil change was completed as expected. Received an update over the phone on the engine issue and rough quote of $1,300. Tried to follow up over email but received no response. Finally called and spoke to a different person who added two new major repairs for a quote of over $4,000! The cost of one repair even changed during the call. This was my first and last experience with Audi of Des Moines and I would highly encourage others to go somewhere else for their service needs. read more

Just bought an A6 from Audi of Des Moines. I was very, very pleased with the experience. I was very particular in what I wanted, and the team there was willing to find me the exact car that I wanted. They even had one of their associates sit with me after I bought the car to walk me through all of the features and technology again since I didn't quite pick it all up the first time. There was no pressure, no "I'll have to go talk to my manager," and I never felt like I was being taking advantage of. The paperwork was a piece of cake too. I purchased my used audi A4 at the end of Feb. Since it was used I was not offered a warranty, which was told the cars go through a STRICT inspection. I understand maintence and I understand purchasing used cars. However I was told I was not buying some used car from a low end dealership, but from Audi "We have 100k, cars here" this past month beginning of June 2017 I am having to replace my timing chain, and have camshaft work done costing over 2k with a car purchased about 2 moths ago. I emailed not only Audi, but the general manager of Audi Des Moines. I know they wont help because they think its on me as a new owner, but purchasing a USED Audi from Audi Des moines I would think twice or take the car to a import mechanic to look at the car. Nothing worse then purchasing a used car you really wanted from a so called rep dealer to be out thousands a few months not years down the road. read more

IF there was a 0 as in ZERO stars it would be done!! I took my '09 Q5 in for an oil change. They seen that my valve stems were metal so said I should change them. They ended up busted ALL 4 TPMS and ended up charging me for them when their own service people broke them off. All I wanted was an oil change. The invoice was over $400 and all I wanted was an oil change. I will NEVER even look at this dealership more or less think about taking my vehicle there. Totally useless and out for your money.
