Grabbed dinner last night at Audie's. We are close enough to Canada when Poutine was offered we opted for it as the starter. It arrived without the customary cheese curds, but the gravy was right. The cheese was cheesy, which is important. Overall, a good dish and one I would eat again. We opted to share the Canadian Perch platter with a baked potato. For $2.00 extra dollars (for a shared plate) we were each given our own potato. The fish was crispy, flavorful, and filling. The tartar sauce...chef's kiss. The right amount of tang, and it was homemade. Was tempting to just drink the rest of it. Staff were all friendly and the atmosphere was casual. If you happen to be in the area, stop in and visit. They have a wide variety of sandwiches and fish platters to choose from. read more

Audie is one of the few good restaurants in the area. Their restaurant split to two. One of them is regular dining hall. The other is the exotic dining hall. We got to regular dining hall. I got the New York strip. The local beef is something different in Michigan grass feed. Meat is softer in compare to Florida beef. I like the different experience of taste. We also got the whitefish sandwich. This is ok dish. Overall service is good. We like the food. read more

The food choices were plentiful. We had the yellow perch & shrimp. Both were delectable. The homemade bread complimented the delicious meal. The wine was perfect. Ordered a bison burger, onion rings, crab cakes, Parmesan encrusted Cajun whitefish, sweet potato fries, added a side Caesar salad and side romaine wedge salad. $70.21 They do charge 3% to use CC here. They wouldn't let me use my Amex card. So I can't use my card of choice and they still charged me 3%z The crab cakes are crispy and quite tasty. They aren't big, but enough for a starter. My husband didn't want the Caesar he ordered and so I ended up eating the Caesar and he ate the wedge salad. The blue cheese dressing and the Caesar dressing are both good. Both salads have tomatoes and carrots. The onion rings are so-so, not so warm. Not super crunchy. The sweet potato fries are thin, but good. The whitefish Parmesan encrusted is decent, just keep an eye out for small bones and some skin left on the filet. The Parmesan encrusted seasoning is good. I let the staff know about the bones in the fish. They told us the fish come pre-boned, but they missed it. No kidding. The bison burger was good. read more

Visiting the area we went to Audies restaurant. We were greeted warmly by the hostess. The menu had a good variety for breakfast as well as info on the Mackinaw bridge (for the Labor Day walk on the bridge). The food was delicious and moderately priced. Entrees were good. Ambiance was a little much for being a white table cloth setting. Service was excellent. In an area known for fresh fruit during the summer having canned fruit in a dessert was disappointing to say the least. Try better silverware too that is better than cafeteria grade. Use that in the other side of the restaurant and not in the nicer Chippewa Room. read more

Had the smelt special and the whitefish sandwich. They were both good, the white fish sandwich could have had a little more fish on it. The pickles and tarter had a really good taste and we enjoyed it. The service was okay, they had 2 servers on and they made sure everyone was taken care of. It was clean and decorated with nicely. Excellent restaurant! We came in with a large group and they quickly moved some tables together to accommodate us. Each couple needed separate checks and they had no trouble with this. Our waitress was excellent- never got flustered and got all of our orders right. They add a 20% gratuity on for large parties even when asking for separate checks but they made sure we saw it on our bill when they were delivered so we didn't tip twice. The food was outstanding. Favorites were the fish and chips, whitefish sandwich and wall eye. They do also have gluten free hamburger rolls if needed for an upcharge. All members of our party left very happy! read more

The restaurant is an absolute gem. The atmosphere of Audie's has an old-time feel with pictures of Mackinaw City and taxidermy on the walls. The customer service was excellent and the food was delicious. We started off with the Mozzarella Sticks and they were amazing!!! For dinner my husband ordered the Audie Burger, my son ordered the Double Bacon Cheeseburger, my daughter ordered the Chicken Parmesan, and I ordered the Lasagna. All of the food was made perfectly and was very filling. We did share the Devil's Temptation for dessert and wow that was rich and so good. While it wasnt horrible it wasnt great. It was a long wait to get our food (40-50 min). My son ordered chicken tenders and they were just like chicken from a Chinese restaurant from sweet sour chicken. Just longer. Heavy breaded and soggy. He isn't too picky normally but I tasted one and they were gross. A adult in our group saw the A special was maple chicken. The chicken was pink inside and wasn't cooked all the way. No one necessarily liked their food but the rest of us at least thought the rest was edible. The staff was outstanding. Which is why I didn't want to say anything. My son unfortunately told her he didn't like his food when she asked. I felt bad for her and said we knew it wasn't her fault. I felt the need to apologize because she was so great but the food was not great and over priced for what you got. A table by us did get a refund. We could hear that they were disappointed in their food too and kept telling their kids they would go get fast food after for them. This place has a lot of potential or maybe it was just a bad night for them. Either way we will try other places and not come here again. read more

I came into Audie's expecting a higher-end dining experience, but it quickly became clear that wasn't the case. Right in the middle of the dining area, the waitstaff were doing side work--folding silverware into napkins--while guests were eating. It really took away from the atmosphere. Our server, Edgar, seemed more preoccupied with other tables. Service was slow, and we watched two tables get seated after us, eat, and leave before we were even served. For food, I ordered the whitefish, while my son and daughter got the three cheese grilled cheese sandwiches. The sandwiches were cooked in Whirl (or something similar), leaving them greasy and heavy. The cheese blend--sharp cheddar, Swiss, and garlic Parmesan--made them dry and sharp instead of creamy and gooey like you'd expect from grilled cheese. My whitefish portion was only half a fillet. The bill came to $64 before tip for one whitefish and two grilled cheeses--pricey for such an underwhelming meal. Honestly, the food was "meh" at best. The restaurant seems to survive solely on the tourist crowd; if it relied on locals, I doubt it would last. One more oddity: there's a large, well-lit salad bar in the middle of the room that's completely empty. It's apparently been "closed for years," but it still sits there like a relic. Overall, overpriced and overrated. Definitely not the upscale experience I was expecting. read more

"Food allergy no go zone" is what my child called this restaurant after our horrible experience. They would not answer any questions about ingredients and food allergies. The waitress kept telling me just to "order something" but wouldn't answer questions, let me talk to anyone else, or take my allergy card to the kitchen. I have never walked out of a restaurant before but had no choice here. Very upsetting experience for a child with food allergies. We went on a Monday for an early lunch when it was a third full so to be the least inconvenient for the restaurant and were still treated this way. read more

We have always eaten here the food has been great. There were 9 of us and they expected a 20% tip prior to ordering. How do we know we are getting good service prior to ordering? We requested an exception but they refused. Wtf? So we paid for our drinks and left. Our waiter lost out because of the managers rudeness and stubbornness. We were visiting with friends in Mackinac City for a few days after time in Saugatuck and Traverse City. Dining is somewhat tenuous in the first area, but our morning meal at Audie's was the worst breakfast I've ever ordered in a restaurant. The taxidermy species mounted on the walls didn't help. The sausage links were fine, as was the bacon ordered by my friends. The eggs were overcooked--my scrambled ones were brown and rubbery--and my friend had a pair of poached eggs which covered a an unordered third that had been overdone as well. The hash browns were... not. And most likely were the leftover mashed and baked potatoes from the previous night... warmed over and then left out before the breakfast plating. And then when we mentioned the coldish dish to the server, she brought out five plates of the same, but obviously microwaved. Completely inedible. And offensively so. There are other local diners in town... nothing spectacular, but at least with consumable food. Which Audie's certainly wasn't. Enter and dine at your own risk. If I could give it zero stars I would. But gave it one for the service which was okay. read more

I posted a review about our anniversary celebration experience and the rebuttal from the owners was VERY lame. No mention of an apology for the 1/8" thin prime rib I paid $38 for with the underbaked bake potato and my wife's greasy coconut shrimp and lame French onion soup. I stopped here for a solo business late lunch knowing that they had some of the best Parmesan encrusted whitefish in the area and they did not disappoint. You have a choice of French fries or mashed potatoes with the entree (a baked potato is no longer offered) and a $ 1.99 up charge if you want coleslaw or a side salad. Complementary warm bread served with the entree. For dessert I had the homemade hot fudge cream puff that the waitress warned me was "huge". It can (and probably should) be shared with 2 other people. Low top seating. Lodge type atmosphere. Small restrooms. Friendly and prompt service. Up to 3% fee on charge cards (not debit cards). Stopped for breakfast with friends on our way home from Michigans Upper Peninsula. Easy access once you get off the Big Mac bridge. The service was good and prices were reasonable. This restaurant is in the style of 1001 diner restaurants in the north. You all know what I'm talking about! Has all kinds of wildlife themed pictures it has that glossy log cabin themed sections of the wall. However they have a very extensive menu that includes seafood pasta steaks hamburgers and assorted sandwiches. They also have a placemat that has the full assortment of cocktails that you can order and it's pretty complete. I had the wedge salad here which was made with a small Romain lettuce it was on chopped and generously slathered in blue cheese salad dressing. Was one of the better wedge salads that I've had. Spaghetti was good although not the best I've had. I feel like it had a slight cinnamon flavor to it. This restaurant is in a tourist area so because of the nature of tourist traps the food is a little over priced. *insert meme of admiral ackbar saying "it's a trap!" But the waitress was very kind and the service was right on point. It's located just to the right of the bridge so if you're headed into the UP it's the perfect place to stop if you want to be quick.
