The owners are so kind, and the made from scratch gourmet breakfasts + coffee (actually roasted in the dining room) were an amazing way to start the day. From the moment we arrived, we were shown nothing but kindness and hospitality from the operators Tara and Mike. The welcoming environment of this place extends into every nook and cranny. Guests can access free microwave popcorn, sodas, ice, and coffee, and can access the main lodge at anytime and sit on the couches or read in the library area. There is wifi accessible and our room came with a tv that included access to a variety of apps, including Netflix. We were fortunate enough to bunk in a family suite and it is perfectly suited for a group of people that are looking for a home-away-from-home feel. With two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and open-concept kitchen and living area, it really felt like we had our own apartment here. The kitchen and bathrooms are thoughtfully stocked with travel-sized toiletries and condiments, and there are plenty of dishes and cookware to utilize. There would be no need to worry about cooking in the morning, however, because breakfast is prepared and delicious! Every morning was plenty to fill me up for hours, and the variety and quality of food was really exceptional. It is served at a communal table, so everyone at the lodge eats together. This turned out to be the most pleasant surprise, as we began establishing friendships and connections with other people. Between the friendly staff, the beautiful location, and the impressive breakfast, Hisega Lodge went far and above my expectations. I intend to recommend this place to anyone who is looking to stay in the Rapid City area.

Our room was cozy and well appointed, and the BnB living room was also homey and inviting. Mackenzie made breakfast for us our last two mornings there, which were delicious. The coffee was spot on as well. This place is on the outskirts of town and tucked away in the woods. During our stay we saw a number of deer, rabbits, and wild turkeys roaming around. At night, the sky was brilliant with stars. This place also has animals on the property! There's a retired show bull who loves getting head scritches and licking people's hands, and two goats who go crazy for attention when they see people. Of course, all three love getting fed treats as well. My favorite animal was Dr. Kitty, a small gray cat who has run of the property. Whether I saw Dr. Kitty outside or inside, she always ran up to me for love and attention. My favorite memory of this trip was sitting in the leather armchair in the living room with Dr. Kitty putting away in my lap. This B&B has multiple room styles; there are some that are part of the main house, as well as standalone structures if you prefer your privacy. There is a play area if you travel with small kids as well! In all honesty, this B&B is such a charming find in Custer, and I couldn't have imagined staying anywhere else during our visit.

She greeted us immediately when we arrived at her beautiful lodge and gave us the tour. We arrived in the evening, so we got settled in and then got to hang out with other individuals who were staying here at the lodge. It was great! At around 8pm, Marilyn informed us that she always has a home made desert that she serves in the evening, which was just perfect. Wine, dessert, great accommodations in the middle of a beautiful, serene, quite and peaceful location; what more can you ask for. In the morning, she makes a excellent breakfast which includes, coffee, juice, pastries, eggs, etc. The perfect food you need for your fun adventures that this area provides. My wife and I would strongly recommend staying at this place if you are to see all the wonderful things that this area provides. The best thing is that you are away from all of the other tourists at night and you just relax, open a bottle of wine and just enjoy the beautiful surroundings in the evening. You even have a distant view of Mt. Rushmore lit up at night, which just adds to the ambiance.

It's a cute house with a very nice front porch. There is parking in back but spaces are tight if the inn is full and when all the cars are big SUVS. We got there rather early as our plans that day were disrupted by the torrential rain but the hostess was there and we were able to get settled in our room right away. We had the writing room which has a shared bathroom down the hall with one other room (the least pricy room). It's is very bright with three big windows, lots of natural light. There is a small fridge which is convenient. Bed a bit soft but for one night it wasn't a big problem. The bathroom is a good size with a retro free standing tub and the shower is hot and strong. From the inn to Main Street is an easy 5-10 minute stroll. Plenty of dining options as the town is quite interesting even though it's all geared towards tourists. Hostess will give you good recommendations if needed. Breakfast was a hearty chunk of Christmas casserole - the best I've ever had chock full of tasty ingredients. Would return to this inn next time just so we can have the same breakfast again!

It is a great location that is close to their little downtown and near the river. When you arrive you'll note that the B&B is actually two buildings. A large Victorian house and a small cottage with attached gazebo. She has many, many rooms! The cottage is a two bedroom with a kitchenette and I believe they call it the Honeymoon cottage. They also have a multi-bed suite in the attic area and in the basement. These would be perfect for families or couples traveling together. Linda a Bert share the main floor along with the main living room and dining room. Lastly there is the second floor, which has individual bedrooms. This is where we stayed. This was a B&B before Linda and Bert bought it so much of the furniture and decor was there... however it is apparent in each of the rooms the many antiques Linda herself has collected over the years. The best part of staying here though were Linda and Bert. I know I had a previous relationship but I saw them interacting with the other guests. Bert was helping out the large group of women (medical transcriptionists on a work retreat) and they both welcomed a couple from Finland while we were there. That night we were told not to eat dessert out because they had homemade apple pie for everyone. The crust was even made by Linda's mom from scratch! It was the perfect end to the evening (we had dinner at Shoot the Bull... see that review)! The next morning was breakfast. With the place being so full they had breakfast in shifts, which was fine. It was nice to mingle with the other guests and have discussions. Linda's niece was also over to help and along with Bert made sure you constantly had something fabulous in front of you. There was a fruit, yogurt, granola parfait, breakfast au gratin potatoes, a breakfast quiche among other things. In the end it was a great time. So good in fact, that my wife and I were very disappointed when we got over to the family reunion and were staying in a below average Days Inn. After seeing how they handled the group of coworkers (which were between 15-20) it was apparent that they could handle a group. Both my wife and I thought about how great it would have been if the reunion had been at Yesterday's Inn. In talking with Linda there were discussions about her hosting events over the holidays so you might inquire about that. They are still learning and figuring out the B&B business but they really love to entertain and have all the different people buzzing about their place. They have many stories about the different guests they have received over the past couple of years. I highly encourage you to plan to stop there for a stay and enjoy Spearfish.

Sadly, Yesterdays Inn in closed and has been for years but I wanted to thank Linda and Bert for their wonderful hospitality and their care while we were there.
