We moved both our parents out of the facility due to our concerns for their safety and wellbeing. We raised concerns multiple times with several levels of leadership and did not see any significant change in care. We were assured that improvement was/is occurring but we did not see the fruit of these apparent efforts. We have concern for others seeking care. Be aware that a care facility can meet state assessment benchmarks but still provide substandard care on a day to day basis. We found this to be true here. The other negative reviews we read totally line up with our experience. Our loved ones deserve better.

I viewed every action as though it might be another act of neglect. It took nearly two weeks to feel safe. Through that time, every Aide, Nurse, Therapist, Cleaning Person, and Administrator made it clear they would watch over me, helping me recover my health. Kindness and empathy were the watchwords they showed me. I learned many of their names and histories. I'd been at Benedictine for about three months. In that time, I'd grown to see them as family. They cared for my wounded body and spirit. I was challenged to improve every day. I am grateful that Benedictine chooses to employ those who look at working with people in need as more than just a job. Over time, some had rough days, and I'd try to help them as much as they did me. I made a few friends there that I'll visit as my health improves. Her health and cognition dropped severely. This was all within 7 months. It is very difficult to see beyond the hype of marketing in this industry and find the truth. CareSuites was truly a Godsend. We are so grateful for the mission, standards, and consistent loving care that this Nonprofit lives up to. And CNAs. Not hired off the street, "trained on the job". An RN on duty 24/7. Proper staffing. Low turnover. Quality care. My mother changed to the MD and ARNP that come out every week to see clients by appointment. A real difference for the healthcare assessment on site. My mother passed in hospice here after 9 months. She and we were blessed.

**UPDATE - NOT REMOVAL**…read more If I could give NEGATIVE STARS, I would. I came here to recover after surgery. Healthy medical recovery may not be possible here. Within minutes of arriving, I wanted to leave. The place is a typical, dump-like nursing home that you see on "Dateline Investigates." The place is dirty and needs a lot of repairs. It seems like this place has been neglected for long time. It's 81 outside and the A/C is not working properly. My call light has wires exposed (See photo). If I would not have been in so much pain, I would have taken pictures of several other safety concerns. My intake was done on the other guy in the room that arrived earlier in the day. All his trauma and notes are being entered into my file. HIPPA, anyone? When I left the hospital, my pain was controlled at a 6/10. Due to their evening/overnight staff's lack of concern or respect, my pain kept increasing throughout the night. I had to plead for my medication AND THE FULL DOSE. When I asked for more ice packs, I got one disposable pack that was supposed to cover both my back and ribs. I would ask for more and get lectured out by the male staff who is wearing a zipped up winter jacket with the hood up. When the Social Worker came in, I let her know my thoughts and feelings about the situation. When I shared this post, they were shocked and started to try to make things right. Between my roommate keeping his TV and lights ON ALL NIGHT and the overnight staff YELLING at the guy in the room next to me to stop peeing in the hall and waling up and down the hall with no pants, I did not sleep at all! In the morning I called my surgeon and advised them of my situation, my pain was now at 10/10! I was told to call 911 and be brought back and admitted through the ER. It is sad that the only way I was able to get the care I needed was to call 911. What makes my heart sink even more, is that BOTH Paramedics told me how much they hate coming out to Villa locations. They shared that this is not the first time something like this has happened. THANK YOU Villas for setting my recovery back days to weeks! They asked me to remove this post. If they can make great strides and show me they can do better, then I will consider updating or removing this post. But, due to their negligence and abuse, I will keep this post up (and possible more) The moral of the story: The Villas at St. Paul is NOT a place to go to recover, it is a place you go TO DIE!
