    Pils, very good.
    Dave P.

The service was OK. The beer was very good. The food however was a fail. The dick was dry. The cabbage served with it was too sweet and the ball-like object was unidentifiable. Potato? Bread dumpling? We just don't know. The Wiener schnitzel was "meh", the potato salad was good. This has also been the most expensive meal we've had so far. All in all, if you want a good, cold Pils, this is the place. If you want to eat, I'd go somewhere else.

We found a great spot outside with a backdrop of the FrauenKirche church and enjoyed some Augustiner lager and Nuremburger sausage.

We came here for a later breakfast. It was much better than we thought it would be! I ordered the Farmer's Duck Caesar salad and the duck was crispy and delicious!!! My hubby got the Bavarian Snack Plate. A charming traditional German restaurant!

Ok, I gave Augustiner another try. The bier's okay -- nothing special. Munich has so many other bier halls but I wanted to give this one a try. We visited Friday evening and the place was absolutely packed. We were lucky to find a couple empty chairs at a community table and chatted with the others for a while. We didn't try their food so no comments about food here. The service was pretty attentive. The bier was okay (there's much better bier in Munich). The hall was way, way too hot to stay for long so we had our bier and left. Nope, we won't be going back here. Too many other better places to drink in Munich.

Roasted pork with dumpling and sauerkraut- and yup - Krispy pork pieces on the side!!

Had hoped it would be equivalent to Augustine keller... it was more of an overpriced, generic bier garten. The staff was friendly enough, i got fried pork and dumplings and wow - it was a-lot of food. Bier was the tasty. Nice long table to enjoy company and time with friends. We chose the upstairs as it was a smidge chilly on the first floor. Closer to Marienplatz than the other, so it's a reason to stop in and enjoy

This is likely to be a tourist place but it is still OK since you still get good Augustiner beers. Service is "German style" (not too welcoming and quite pissed if you want to pay by card but quite quick and efficient). I had the pork roast which was quite good and with a great dark beer sauce.

Good food, good beer. Quieter than other tourist traps nearby. Centrally located. Tasty roast pork. Pancake soup was surprisingly good.

Great service, good local food. With kids, you're send to the first floor. Which is great, because there you have loads of space.

The location is perfect during a tour in the city. As usual the service is rude but the food is good ( traditional German).

Located just behind Old Town on Frauenplatz, it's a little off the beaten track, but not too hard to find. This Bavarian gem has been around for over 125 years. The food was so good. Here you will find traditional German, Bavarian food. We stopped by for lunch and it was packed with mostly locals. We were seated a large table with 3 other couples who were all from the area. One person brought his dog who kept running under the table to sniff my leg. Minus the dog, this was a treat and everyone was so nice. We even toasted when the cold Augustiner beer arrived. Again, we were told to order the sausages so we did. I ordered the 6 and my husband ordered the 8 sausages with sauerkraut. These looked like what we call breakfast sausage, they're thin but pack a a ton of flavor and were delicious, especially with the fresh sauerkraut. The staff was friendly and helpful with an English version menu. The atmosphere was cool and very authentic. Exactly what we were looking for when in Munich.

We got the Glöckl Platter which was a mixed plate of sausages. I could not decide which sausage was my favorite because I liked all three. The sausages in Germany taste more pure and less processed than the ones from the United States...and of course they are better in Germany! The side order of roasted potatoes was also delicious, with a crispy bottom, kind of like a cross between hash browns and home fries. The portions were smaller than other beer gardens I have been to though (1 star off). I was not familiar with German beers, so just told the waitstaff the glass size (1/2 L or 1L) and one was selected for me. It was light with some hops -- great with sausages and for summertime. We sat outside at a table squeezed between many other tables, but did not mind the crowd. It was great for people-watching in a busy part of town on a relaxing summer evening.

I stopped by here by myself maybe around 6pm on a Monday and was seated at a table because the bar was full, but told I only had an hour since they were full for reservations. The servers are dressed in traditional German clothes which is a very cool touch. Everyone I spoke to also spoke English. I ordered the schnitzel and whichever beer they recommended with it. I am typically NOT a beer person, but of course I had to try one and whatever this was, was very good. The schnitzel was so crispy and also very delicious. Highly recommend this place!!

The pretzels that came with it were great and the cream cheese scoop went perfectly on the pretzel. One of the best meals in Munich, give it a try.

I would recommend Wirtshaus for a good, traditional German meal. Wirtshaus Zum Straubinger has a nice selection of drinks, including German beer. The menu is mostly traditional German food but does have some lighter options. I had a fantastic side salad with my meal - the Pork Knuckle, which I was really excited to try and wanted to order at least once on our trip. This was the only time I tried the dish, but it was delicious; the outside was crispy and the inside was meaty. I would highly recommend this, and the dumplings that came on the side were good too. My other two dining companions ordered duck, which was also excellent. Wirtshaus was a pleasant dinner in a cozy atmosphere and traditional German food. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation through Open Table.
