Small bbq sandwich and tater rounds
Teri S.

4 stars because it's dated. Could use small update. The only bbq we could find today and we are glad we did. It's good food! I had tater rounds and a small bbq sandwich. Good stuff.

Bad macaroni

Service was terrible . They were so unprofessional, yelling nonstop and vaping out in the open. Seemed very unsanitary to the point where I questioned if my food was edible. My macaroni was very watery and tastes disgusting.

BBQ SANDWICH AND FRIES
Kelly H.

It was our first time trying an Aunt Bea's BBQ restaurant. My kids ordered hot dogs and fries, my husband and I ordered BBQ sandwiches and fries. Taste wise, we weren't impressed. Value wise, the price was decent. We went in thinking it would be really good because there were a fair amount of people dining and eating there. I noticed after sitting though, that most were eating breakfast (which looked really good, I might add) although it was after 11 am. If you are looking for breakfast, you may want to give it a try- otherwise, I'd pass.

Small food portions. High priced. Taking advantage of folks in Galax. Service is ok. Atmosphere is fine. Food was stale.

Dairy Bar - Hot Dog with chili, mustard, and slaw

Was staying in Galax overnight and wanted to grab a hot dog while I was here. Options were somewhat…read morelimited but I was happy to find the Dairy Bar. I pulled in and wasn't exactly sure what my next course of action. Large menu boards outside and people eating in their cars suggested a drive-in but I had kind of wanted to eat inside. Now I wasn't sure if there was an inside. A server came to my car window and asked what I wanted so I committed to dining in the vehicle. The server was friendly, took my order, and headed back inside. From my car, I could watch the Christmas light display on the ball fields below the restaurant. The server returned with my order and I decided to return to my hotel to eat. At least, that was the plan, but my small peanut butter milkshake was gone by the time I parked at the hotel. Very creamy (soft serve I think) with a touch of milk to make it drinkable. Went down quickly - tasty! I also got a hot dog, corn dog, and tater tots. The hot dog was good. A classic mustard, chili, slaw. Cold by the time I got to the hotel but that's not Dairy Bar's fault. The corn dog was good too. Fresh from the fryer though the mustard I had asked for got left out. Tots were crunchy and hot. With I had gotten more than a couple ketchup packets but I could have asked. All in all, I'd recommend Dairy Bar and I'd return to try their other items and get a larger milkshake next time!

Also the overlook of mountains are great. They have outside seating or drive up orders. They bring it to your car. Milkshakes are delicious also.

They also have tables for sitting and the owner said eventually they will open back up the icecream shop. It didn't do well with Covid. The owner was very nice and answered any questions we might have had about the cars. Definitely worth paying a visit for the adults and families of all ages.

I love this car museum. Maybe more like an old garage or a warehouse than a modern museum with…read morehighly polished displays. But Old Cranks has lots of character and well worth the admission fee ($4 per person) and the time to walk about. They have all kinds of cars, mostly American ones. The periods covered range from the early 1900s through the 1970s. Some really nice classic cars like a Stingray, a little red Corvette (now thinking of the Prince song), a WW2 era Willys GP (Jeep), a Stanley Steamer, and an electric car from a century ago. Nice! Most of the care on display have informative placards that tell about the car, including its price back then. Lest we dream about how cheap the cars were, the placards tell what was the average income for people in that time, what various household goods cost. An automotive history reality check :-) The museum places period props by the cars to give a feel of the times. Elsewhere in the museum, they have other old items on display. Also some of displays have a nice quirky sense of humour.
