I love the days I walk in and see the staff hard at work in the back with the air smelling so sweet! Every holiday their displays are new. Everything in this store is like an orgasm dipped in chocolate! The only thing this place doesn't have is everlasting gobstoppers and fizzy lifting drinks! People rave about the fudge, which is pretty good, but there is so much more. The "CD's" are wonderful creations that resemble what most people call turtles, and you can get them with various nuts or if you're nuts enough...get them without. The Peanut Butter Cups are slightly smaller than the size of your head and stuffed with about a pound of peanut butter. These babies are available in milk, dark, or white chocolate. Any chocolate creation you can think of, they have it, and they do it better than most! Don't like chocolate? OK, first you need to be put in a headlock and given an atomic wedgie by a professional wrestler, then after months of recovery check out these amazing alternatives just for you (weirdo). They have gigantic Caramel Apples that are the size of...well, gigantic caramel apples. Granny smith, red delicious, nuts, no nuts, I have to get at least two so the decision is easier. Cheese Popcorn, that's right I said a fudge shop has fantastic cheese popcorn. It's a little pricey, but for rich, cheesy popcorn that you don't even have to chew, it's worth it. In fact if it isn't the best you've ever had, I will come to your house and mow your lawn. I need a shopping cart when I stop here, because I can't shovel chocolate into my face fast enough. Seriously, I make Augustus Gloop look like Calista Flockhart! Stop in and see what you're missing. If you want to make something fabulous just cover it in chocolate. I consider myself walking proof of this :) Aunt Diana has taken this idea and ran with it. You can probably get anything your little heart desires covered in chocolate from this place. Chocolate covered apples, oreos, nuts, pretzels, marshmallows and the list goes on. The white chocolate oreo bark and milk chocolate covered oreos are just a few of the treats I purchased for myself (and possibly to share). So good! I'm practicing self control and I have committed to not eating the entire bag of treats but I imagine everything in it will be just as good as the items consumed so far. Way better than anything you will get in the 2 for $1 bin but priced by the pound so be careful because things add up. They also have some old school candy finds like pixie sticks, lipstick candy and candy cigarettes. Staff isn't as outgoing as you might think for a shop filled with candy but i'll let that slide since they have provided me with such great treats. read more

This is an amazing little shop that sells a lot more goodies than just old fashioned fudge. Whenever I'm home in Riverside and craving some chocolate, the absolute best place to go is always Aunt Diana's. It's been around for as long as I can remember and I have many fond mouth-watering chocolate memories associated it. Most recently, I went to Aunt Diana's yesterday to look for Easter candy with my mom and we definitely went to the right place. The place was totally decked out in pastel colors and chocolate bunnies of all shapes, sizes, and flavors. Anything Easter-related you can imagine, it is here in its chocolate goodness. There was even edible Easter basket confetti! In addition to the seasonal Easter candy, there were still plenty of the usual chocolate options, including chocolate-covered cookies, chocolate-covered fruit, chocolate-covered marshmallows, and chocolate-covered everything! The workers aren't particularly friendly (I don't think I've ever seen a more stoic face from someone selling me CANDY), but I really don't mind. I'm there for the chocolate, not a friendly face. The chocolate is good enough for me not to be bothered. We ended up getting three peanut butter-filled milk chocolate bunnies and three coconut chocolate bird nests (with jelly bean eggs and a little chick made of hard sugar). I've been craving Aunt Diana's since going there yesterday, so I might sneak back to get some of that chocolate because I don't want to wait until Easter. Fun fact: I bought candy for my first "boyfriend" when I was in 7th grade from Aunt Diana's. I left it in his locker because I was too embarrassed to give it to him in person. read more

Returned to Aunt Diana's today for the first time in too long. Happy to be bringing a friend for her first visit after getting her excited about going. What a disappointment. It would have been embarrassing too except that my friend was delighted with what she got. Loved the melt-in-your-mouth English Toffee, a good-sized bag (not skimpy movie-theater box) of chocolate-covered raisins), and the opportunity to buy and try just a couple of chocolate-covered apricots -- her favorite fruit not usually found dipped in chocolate. I was the disappointed one, in part because of my happier earlier experiences. To begin with the good news, the caramel is still wonderful, both on its own (large caramel squares) and in the various caramel- chocolate-nut clusters). Unfortunately, not sure about the cheese corn, one of the main reasons for my return. The cheese flavor is still first rate, but the corn itself is scratchy with hulls. Couldn't eat it, just sucked on it for the cheese flavor and threw away the popcorn itself. Found myself wondering if the popcorn is really made in the store or is a resale item. But there was one definite and big disappointment -- the fudge. That was the other big reason for my return, and what I got was hard and dry blocks in both of the flavors I bought. Today, the store could have been renamed Aunt Diana's OLD fudge. I'll probably go back for some of the store's items that have held up -- especially holiday items, for all holidays. The store is charming when filled with these products. But the fudge . . . ? I don't think so. One last word on the store's charm, or lack of it. The staff today was unwelcoming and inattentive. I don't remember that as part of my earlier experiences, but it certainly was true today for my friend and me, and I noticed that another reviewer mentioned this issue. read more

Amazing chocolate! I'm a chocolate fanatic and this little Fudge shop is ideal! It's a bit pricey but I just had to get a little bit of everything. The chocolates are delicious and there's so many to choose from. The plus is that it's near home, I would've rated it a five except that the customer service wasn't splendid! It took a few minutes to get greeted, I didn't get a "Thank you" or "Come again" or even a welcoming smile. (I honestly expected a happier environment being that it's such a cute setting, common it's chocolate!!!) But the good thing is I still got my chocolate and my family loved it! Aunt Diana's is fully deserving of my five-star rating as it has by far the best homemade chocolate in the west suburban area. I've been here many times over the years, especially because I used to go to school walking distance away from here. This is the chocolate I crave and think about from time to time, especially now that I live farther away in the city. I haven't yet found anywhere in Chicago that compares to this excellent, creamy, rich chocolate. Aunt Diana's does an excellent job of carrying seasonally appropriate chocolate. They always have Christmas-, Halloween-, Easter, and Valentine's Day-themed chocolate and other assorted candies. Whenever someone has gifted me chocolate from here, I've been especially excited. Prices are pretty reasonable. They have some incredible chocolate-covered nuts and also peanut butter-filled chocolate. There's plenty of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and white chocolate to keep you content. In the summer, I used to enjoy getting the soft served ice cream here, too. Nothing mind-blowingly good, but it satisfied a sweet tooth, was cheap, and came in large servings. Now that I'm writing this review, I'm probably going to have to head back soon! read more

I'm a bit of a chocolate nazi. I hate that a lot of chocolate sold leaves a nasty aftertaste. Not t his. Around the holidays, someone sends my work a box full of Aunt Diana's goodies. I never even paid attention to the label until today. Low and behold the place is in Riverside and not too far from my house. Let me tell you, the fudge is so incredibly good! There are so many different things crammed into the box that I can even imagine how much more is sold at the store. I'm a little scared to go mainly because I'm afraid for my stomach and my wallet. I've never actually been to the store, but I can guarantee you that it won't be too long until I make a visit. read more

Tried the Chicago mix popcorn (cheese and caramel) and it is better than Garrett's Popcorn! (Well, at least the cheese is better than Garrett's cheese, the caramel corn was good, but not as good at Garretts). Still, for the price, it's way better than Garretts. I couldn't stop eating it! I also tried the frozen chocolate covered banana. It was giant! And so good. The shop is clean and organized. It is so festive for each holiday. Such a great place to visit! The ladies behind the counter ARE very unfriendly and don't know how to make small chit-chat, but the selection of candy is pretty great and it's all made fresh from what I can tell. I worked for this establishment back in '99 when they were at the taste of chicago. I didnt know of them then just a friend helping a friend out with a job. But oh boy...When I started I couldnt keep my hands off the chocolate covered strawberries!!!!They are to die for. I ate them everyday at the taste of chicago. Kathy, the owner, is such a humble and nice lady. Her chocolate is the BOMB!! After her stint at the taste ended, I found her store in riverside. I live more west. I try to get there everypay period. Once every two weeks. This store puts other candy to 'SHAME'...I mean really. Its a nice little store FULL of candy. I wish she had a store closer.... Its right pass north riverside mall , straight on harlem , with a right turn on E Burlington. You will never go to Fannie May again after eating the chocolate delights at this wonderful shop. The turtles are beyond words. I can hardly stop eating them when I have them in my house.....which is often. The toffee is the best....buttery, covered with chocolate and nuts. Delicious. Did I mention the popcorn? So good. There are so many wonderful items. I even bought a filled chocolate cornucopia for my Thanksgiving centerpiece. My guests nibbled on it all evening. They also have soft serve ice cream, which is great in the warm weather. Of course the fudge is the best I've found. Many varieties. I love going in there. The staff is so friendly! Chocolate decorated houses at Christmas where the roof comes off and kids find plenty of wonderful surprises. I could go on and on. I'll just say I'm so glad I know about Aunt Diana's. This small town chocolatier is the best in the Chicagoland area to my thinking. Patty Miglore knows how to blend her homeshop chocolate with delightful ingredients. The fudge is heavenly, the chocolate cherries are incomparable and the nut turtles are ambrosia. In season, the caramel apples shouldn't be missed. Down the street, a few doors down, the Chew Chew Café provides a fine upscale meal, and next door, Grumpy's provides rich Petersens ice cream and its own sublime fresh-roasted coffees. read more

With praise like that it should be 5 stars right? Well no the unfriendliness of the ladies that work there knocks it down three stars. Have you ever DREADED going to a candy store? I do because they make the experience so unpleasant. I only go there if I need a nice unique gift and have exhausted all other options. I have gone there and been the only person in the shop, as soon as you walk in they will bark - "What do you want?" Not Hello or How can I help you. Then if you don't know and want to look around (because really there is something to see in every square inch of the place and it changes every season) they sort of sigh or roll their eyes.
